well, you probably noticed already, but if your already aiming for things that has been a tried and true formula for bad results, it just frustrates people, like I said, some place like new grounds and they might take this in better, even if it's complete nonsense, it has hentai :P

at least I hope half the people here try to take game development seriously, it's on a amateur level sure, but the same skills apply and like I already said, from just that one post, your already proving how impossible this would never world out. There ARE those really stupid games that noobs make that people just laugh at, some flame, or just tell them at least they're working, and try to help, but they don't get that much attention.

This is just different becuase 1 your fighting alot which just annoys people more since you DOn't listen, and 2 people are apparently always interested in porn, can't blame em :\

I listen just fine. It seems like other people who are the ones who dont. Very first post, I said Im not taking this project seriously. So when you say "dont expect people to take you seriously" its like...redundant and stuff. Im just not interested enough in RPGmaker to attempt writing a serious story, hence the hentai.

I don't want to take sides like this is some black and white conversation here.  I could honestly care less if I ever saw hentai again.  I'm not single, meaning that this game isn't something I need, nor want really.  But you've got to listen to the critics man.  Take it all in.  Listen to every argument they've got.  Even if this isn't a serious project, you've got to comprehend their ideas and suggestions. 

Then you know what? 

Fuck 'em.  Do what you want.  There's a reason you can buy a license for this program you're using.  Because it's your own creativity, boredom, artistic release, or even your sex drive that helps people get through the day.  You don't plan on making money off this thing, so just have fun with it.  Do what interests you.  No gay sex.  No options for gay sex.  Just make the damn game and let these people choose if they play or not.

You're looking for suggestions.  Fine.  If you don't want to use them, then don't.  Simple as that.  End of story.

If youre making a hentai game then i expect some "EYECANDY" but this could get boring gradually based from my experience... unless you got a good game story and something unique you can dish out to your game. I notice you are using existing images that comes from other popular games or anime show (theres nothing wrong -_- with that) good luck with your project.

It's for the fact that you DID post here that people WILL hold you to a certain standard. The problem is that not alot of people want to be bothered to look at your stuff if your not going to take it seriously but then half the people are just "hentai!" so they want to look but get disappointed becuase this is a completely pointless topic.

Ok i'm not familiar with this "game", if you may. It's just feedback out of your comments or about the hentai images which you didn't even made them and probably have copyright.
I'm not here to flame/troll/shitpost or how ever you want to call it, I'm here you make you remember you're getting feedback out of NOTHING. Games like A Grim Romance isn't getting this much feedback and it's 13432874233903 2 times better.
In my opinion( and I think other people will agree);
START WORKING ON A STORY FOR THIS PSEUDO PORN GAME. I don't know, work on maps, make the characters/hookers, but DO SOMETHING. Don't stay all day watching this thread growing, open the RMXP and work on something.
We care about you making your "game". We don't give a fuck if you didn't like yeahgo4chan1010 comment. I'm not encouraging this kind of behavior, I'm just advising you to WORK on your "GAME" and not in this "THREAD".

Im stuck. Do you guys think music is important in a game like this? I have three choices ATM. Use the regular RPGmaker midis, use tracks from Final Fantasy X-2, or use tracks from an anime show which most people have probably never even heard before?

If you were going to use other people's music, I would stay well away from Final Fantasy.

Music is important in a game like this, IMO, as it really adds atmosphere and mood. Plus I guess er... rhythm?

if you're going to use ripped music, it's important that it be obscure. it's going to kind of ruin the intended atmosphere if the player can instantly recognize the piece's origin and think of that scene in context with the original game. anything from the final fantasy franchise is definitely out (in fact that applies for most square games,) and anyone who's played around with the prorgam itself has already heard enough of the RTP music to get kind of sick of it. if you can take stuff from that obscure show and make it fit properly (looping and all that) then I'd say that's the wisest course of action.

Yeah, I get what you guys are saying. Its final fantasy X-2 though, which is not your average FF game. Only reason I thought to use it was because the music is quite similar to the tracks from that obscure anime show, which is what I planned on using from the start. Theres certain elements of those tracks that get on my nerves a bit. Anyway, does guitar based techno music sound like it would fit in a game set in a modern city/suburban environment? (never mind the hentai for a moment)

Uh, just because X-2 has the whole "girl power" and Charlie's Angels thing going on, doesn't mean it's NOT your average FF game.  At any rate, I'd steer clear from FF music.  Even if it is from an FF that most everyone hated, it'll be recognizable.

Anyway, I have some nitpicks about your maps.  The train station is good and the slums are good (I'd really like to know where you got those tilesets, to be honest).  The exterior of the school is okay, but the interior is terrible.  School classrooms do not have that much empty space in them.  The grocer is okay (I'd personally add two more registers between the three that you have there)  Same with the diner; you have room for A LOT more tables and booths... and then there's the church.  I'm sorry, but you went from tilesets that were "RTP but different" to just RTP, and it's GLARINGLY obvious.  If anything, I would at least try to manipulate the colors of the default tileset so they match, but you might need another church all together.  The inside of said church is also barren; the benches should extend up to the display in front (or at least end a small distance away from it).  Also, the two corridors on either side seem to serve no purpose other than just being there; making them different rooms or doing away with them entirely would look much better.

The last one, I'm not even going to get into.  It's a mix of original and RTP, and it just looks terrible (not to mention barren, again).

Thanks for the input about my maps. I was beginning to think nobody noticed.

Where did I get the tilesets? Probably creation asylum, but I am not sure. I downloaded hundreds of things a few months back, tilesets, characters, etc...I combined bits of several tilesets to make an uber-huge set for the downtown/slums areas.

Some of those maps are not totally complete yet, like the subway for instance. I need to add trashcans and stuff to the tileset so I can make it a bit more intresting. As for there being too much empty space in some of them...well I kinda like that. Maybe its just personal taste but I want some room to actually walk around in. Some of the better maps I've seen posted on this forum are absolutley jam-packed full of stuff! I just dont see the point really. Besides, I wouldnt know what to put in there anyway...

Yeah, the church kinda sucks...I do plan on having two doors leading off from the corridors though, thats why I put them there.

Sorry you dont like the apartment. I thought I did an okay job on that. Its supposed to look a bit dirty and ugly, its in the poor area of town.

I'll try to shrink down the size of some of my maps, which to me seems the better way to make them seem less barren, rather than placing a bunch of junk all over.

I think yeah, if you just make them maps a bit more compact you could be onto something good here. The graphics are not RTP which is a huge bonus (although you still have a few RTP maps there which I'd advise against), and if your music isn't RTP either then you've got a big bonus against most other games. (Whether it should or not the RTP turns a lot of people off games).

Also I think that windowskin would suit the theme; but I personally would have that windowskin for the female characters and then change to a different one for when the protagonist is talking (assuming you're sticking to male on female only).

Yeah, I shrunk down a few of the maps...I guess its an improvement. Doesnt really make a lot of difference to me. I just went ahead and recolored the windowskin to red, because changing it constantly would be annoying and I promised myself not to make this project too difficult.
