Your favorite band/artist?

I am wondering, what is your favorite band or artist, regardless of genre? And why do you like them so much? How about telling us your favorite song by them?

I am a metal-head, and my favorite bands are Between the Buried and Me, Metallica, and Pantera.

Why do I like them so much, you may be asking?
They're not like all the newer thrash/scream-o crap on the radio. I hate most of the music they play on the rock radio stations now. I usually like older metal, but BTBAM is awesome even though they're newer.

My favorite song by BTBAM is probably Medicine Wheel, Pantera = Cemetary Gates, and Metallica, probably either One or The Unforgiven.

@washcloth: I rather like their vocalists. They don't actually have one person devoted specifically to singing, both of the guitarists sing, if you've noticed. You should listen to their cover of Cemetery Gates, the lead singer there sounds really good.

Well other then those , I mainly listen to : blessthefall, Vanna , Paramore , Dance Gavin Dance , Grreley estates , Mozart seasons , Upon beauty rests , suicide silence ,As blood runs black, , Bring me the horizon (old) , saosin ..

so I could say mainly screamo/posthardcore and deathcore.

90's Alternative/Grunge - Bush, Temple Of The Dog, Soundgardern, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Candlebox, Nickelback, A Perfect Circle, Stone Temple Pilots, Staind.

70's-80's/ Miscellaneous - Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Tom Petty, Ozzy, Heart, Journey, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith.

That pretty much sums it up. These are all bands I listen to on at least a weekly basis.

I like a few of the bands you mentioned, the only ones I really don't like are:
Slipknot(Their drummer owns, but their guitarist and vocalist suck)and Nickelback(What is their appeal, really? They always sing about either sappy junk, or gross idiotic bullcrap). I mean, that's just my opinion, but it's the opinion on a lover of music.

Plus another 3 adds to my list: Beethoven, Def Leopard, and Led Zeppelin. I've liked them all for a while, but forgot to add them.

slipknots music is so horrible now. they were never really too great, but at least they had some stylistic sounds back on their selftitled. there were a few cool songs on there, but they've gotten really generic. when they try to be heavy now, its just lame. the title track off the new album (all hope is lost, i belive) has got to have the thinnest blast beats i've ever heard, and it's like the rest of the band didn't know what to do over the drums. i lol'd and i turned it off. i don't even know why i wanted to give it a listen seeing as i've never really liked them. @_@

they just need to learn not to do covers of GOOD songs cause they butcher them I.E Zero by the smashing pumpkins and Heart Shape Box by Nirvana. Anyways my fav bands are Rise Against! Possibly the greatest band of the 21st century... then the smashing pumpkins... but sadly they are dead now... jimmy left T.T I pretty much only listin to rock... hate all metal music with a passion

Between The Buried And Me is sick I must say, mainly because of their technicality and their ability to switch the style of music mid-song while still making it flow beautifully. You know all those dudes probably do is sit in their studio, smoke pot, and play instruments. Musical geniuses in my personal opinion. But honestly, their LEAD vocalist is nothing special to me. He has no variety or range at all, but I guess it does work for their style.

I like all types of music. From death metal to classical and orchestra. I don't much care for labels and genres, if I hear a song and I like it, then that's that, regardless of the genre.

Here are some of my favorite bands just as of late and a short reason as to why:

Whitechapel (They bring t3h heaviez!!1!)
Born of Osiris (Awesomely technical time signatures)
Conducting From The Grave (Technical and melodic, gotta love that)
Knights of the Abyss (Being a death metal vocalist myself, their vocals are very inspiring to me)
Killswitch Engage (Come on, who doesn't like KSE?)
MC Chris (Any nerd that doesn't know who MC Chris is should be ashamed of themselves)
System of a Down (Will probably always be one of my favorite bands, but more so, Serj Tankian. I'm so glad he broke away from System because he's so effing talented it's almost disgusting, and now it's truly shining with his self titled album and all the other stuff he's been doing)

I need to stop or I'll keep going on and on. I can't really pick an all time favorite band and/or song. There's just too damn many! :biggrin:

I thought their cover of Korn's Thoughtless on their live album, Anywhere but Home, was pretty good.
