Gary Suraci, the principal of Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Center in Port Ewen, N.Y., is undergoing a sex change. Now, instead of being Gary Suraci he will be Genna Suraci. Gary Suraci was known well, in the last 11 years on the job, he's won awards for his work and so on, but now that he's a woman it seems these contributions don't matter much anymore.

So the kids leave school saying goodbye to Gary, and when the come back from summer vacation they say hi to Genna. And it's causing noise, on whether or not this should be allowed. Now his/her job is protected due to law, but it's still pissing people off saying it's unacceptable.

And if this is acceptable, what's not? If this is too bizarre, what is acceptable? Just from listening to what some people have said I'm confused, it seems people are less concerned by the younger members of society - their education and how much Gar-err... Genna Suraci has done for them - as opposed to ethics, and morals. Would you let your kids go to school with Gary Suraci? Or rather Genna Suraci?

I don't see a reason why not, but share away your thoughts.

If someone is really unhappy with what they are (i.e. a man or a woman) and they have the power to change it, why not? If it makes them happier, then it should be fine! i'm completely open-minded regarding closed-minded opinions. it doesn't mean i don't think the people who have them are complete idiots though. nobody who opposes GAYS or GAY MARRIAGE can back their opposition up with anything other than "ew hes stickin a d*ck in his butt", "god doesnt want it like that!!", or "its tradition", one of which is childish, one of which is utterly stupid, and one of which fails to take into account that stoning unfaithful family members is tradition too.

Oh, so now you can tell someone how they can be happy? Like you know better than the person themselves? What a great way to control the masses! It's like you can tell a kid: oh, you can't be happy going down the slide because that's immoral! You can be happy on the swing instead. Instead of, of course, letting the child choose. Let people live their own lives and stop trying to control them. If they are happy as a different gender than what they were born as, then that's happiness to them. But this isn't about Gay and Straight, this is about a guy who got a sex change and the impact it will have on the students of the high school where he is a principal.
