world of warcraft

I've played WoW since it's European release back in '05 and I find the game horribly horribly boring to play... alone. You throw a few friends into it and the game becomes a great deal of fun. I play the game for the communication aspect more than anything, my only regret is that both my high level characters (70 Warlock and 66 Warrior) aren't on role play servers but normal PvP realms.

There are so many restrictions on RP Servers that it is easier just to RP with friends on a real server. Although you may get made fun of.

I used to play on Moonglade (European RP Server) and had loads of fun. I managed to get myself to level 52 then quit, I just got bored. The reason for this is the fact that my guild was falling apart and many good friends had quit and/or ceased communications.

These MMO's aren't really for Solo play, otherwise what would be the point?

You have to have a good community and friends if you want to enjoy the experience to the full. I am actually going to return to WoW as soon as I can afford it, as some friends have restarted playing it. :)

I was addicted, then I broke away from my 42 twink Mage and started playing Gears of War. I stopped because of the damn price for playing it; $42ASD every two months! Thats why I started my own private server so I could just do the stuff everyone else does, but just as a server admin!

Yours, Sam.

Oh I do RP on the server I play on, with one or two different friends, but I'd like to be able to roleplay with random people, too.

World of Warcrack is an epidemic. I have seen, with my own eyes, an straight A student who played Diablo from time to time change to an flat F student, who played Warcrack nearly every hour of the day. I've seen at least 2 breakups because of the guy stood the girl up cause he was getting lvl 70, and I've even seen a teacher get fired cause he played it at work.

It destroys people, and I really don't see the point. For an imaginary character with imaginary stats in an imaginary world. I've really never seen any other MMO do this to people before. It's a damn shame too.

Indeed, this game does rock and I have a lvl 70 priest, 40 rogue, and 2 lvl 34 hunters. However, levelling after you get one character to 70 gets depressing, as you know what you're in for. Level 70 SUCKS. Especially as a priest, because you can't get into any good guilds for raiding without good armor. So what does that mean? Yep, doing instances (dungeons) 24 hours a day for months at a time until you get enough money for enchantments, repuation for gear (armor and weapons), and have a solid profession to help out your guild with potions or whatever. Indeed, you can pvp...but lets be honest, the stuff you get from pvp is terrible, and certainly does not follow up with stuff you can get from 1-man quests. So, to end this incredibly long rant: play WoW, but as soon as you get to level 70...trust me, you will become bored with it and feel as if you had wasted your life :(

Arena Gear is currently on par with Raiding Tier 5 gear, as of Season 2. Season 1 gear was on par with Raiding Tier 4 gear.

That's not even the Weapons, which are godly.

Nearly every kid in my school plays WoW, and we only have about about 300 kids, so that's a pretty accurate amount. I also know a lot of people outside my school that play it, and most of them are the type who play it hours on end. I'm telling you, it destroys people.

EverQuest was the scapegoat at one time too.

I can say the same thing about Christianity. All those damn Christians, they're all insane.

McDonalds makes people so fat they asplode.

It's not like it's their fault they keep eating even when they've had enough. Even if 'enough' is literally only half a big mac by a normal meal's standards.

Also from my experience, WoW is like the most boring MMO in existence, but I was soloing the entire time. I dunno why, but soloing in MMO's seems like what I like to do the most, which makes almost no sense but hey whatever, nobody's forcing me to play WoW.

I have no idea about how 'addicting' a game can really be though. It's like being 'addicted' to the great flavor of strawberry lemonade. Strawberry Lemonade is fucking delicious, and just thinking of it makes me want some, but do I go out of my way to get it, to the point that my daily life suffers? It's ridiculous how some people do that, and they really have nobody to blame but themselves. And Prexus.

And Prexus.

Seconded.

So... about that lemonaide...

Seriously, though - I enjoyed myself enough solo, but once I rolling with a guild (mid 40s), I had much more fun, mostly because I had a guild with some extremely awesome individuals, not to mention talkative, nerdy girls on vent.

Seriously, whiping multiple times to the first boss in ZG really is fun if you whiped because everyone started dancing to What is Love in the middle of the fight (What is Love Buff, duh).

Good times.

I quit for several months when that guild fell apart. It just wasn't the same.

Now I'm all about Guild Wars (I run a guild - I have to be about it), City of Heroes, and Dungeon Runners. Also, Sword of the New World to a lesser extent.

Sword of the New World looked so promising, but it's complete trash. It's just Ragnarok Online, but hard to understand and you have to pay to go past level 20. Plus, picking up items was stupid. I was really hoping it'd be awesome.

I only have one character at level 70 in Warcraft. I had trouble leveling characters because I needed friends to level with. Usually, when a new server opens up, I roll a character, level and meet a bunch of friends, get into the 40-50 range, and I could go all the way but don't for some reason.

I've actually played it a bit, and they've made quite a few improvements since the Granado Espada days - I believe either a recent patch or an upcoming patch makes picking up items automatic in defensive mode or some such, so you can fight AND pick up items. The reason I say I'm into it is because I see a lot of potential, and I'm sort of hoping they can make the last few little upgrades I'm looking for.

Also, I liked Ragnarok!

I played Sword of the New World about two weeks ago, and none of that was implemented.

It's also really, really easy. And aside from level grinding, there is nothing else to do except grind materials for sub-par weapons.
