Wich is the best 128 bit console? Why?

It depends... if you head for (...), choose (...):

Offside compatibility - PS2
Best online gameplay - XBOX
Variety of games - PS2
Best game of all: NGC (because of Super Smash Bros. Melee, which kicks ass, most of the time the one of my friends :D )
Most RPGs: PS2 (I chose that genre because it's a semi-RPG-forum, but I could list other genres if you wish...)

Well, in my opinion, the XBOX is for people that can't think of playing games on a omputer... tell me what uber game for this console wasn't done for PC too...
The NGC is more for fun-players like I am, so if you have pretension, buy that, as it'll entertain you as hell if you buy the right games. It's the console for people that wan't to play something besides 'I'm-a-teen-and-need-to-play-gore-games-to-be-cool' category-games, if you get what I mean...
The PS2 is something neutral in the middle, as it has mostly all genres covered up quite good (even a SSB clone with Onimusha Buraiden ^_^ ... well, that sucked *lol* ), but there are very few games that are 'over the top'.

Well, and considering the next generation is in the starting holes, buy them instead of the current ones, because all of them are down-compatible (well, XBOX not, but screw that ^_^ ).

PS: I own a PS2, a NGC and all my friends on SSBM :D

1) PS2 for Vairety of Games. (huge amount of really good quality games)
2) Gamecube, Always loved Nintendo but the Gamecube was pretty much a flop, with only about 20 amazing games.
3) Xbox, Giant box, used to keep paper from blowing away and occasionally playing Halo and Fable, otherwise useless.

PS2 is the best hands down on all fronts even online. Online I say? Yep. You can't get RE:Outbreak for anything else. 'nuff said.
ALmost inperceivably better graphics do not a better console make, bringing XBOX with its slipshod library in a notable third place behind the Gamecube.

Now, I hate to piss on your submarine sandwich, but I though the XBOX and Dreamcast were the only 128bit systems. Aren't PS2 and Gamecube still 64 bit?
The whole "bit" thing doesn't make alot of difference these days, but I was always under the impress that's how it was. I could of course be wrong.

I meant that the XBOX grants the best online service with XBL. It surely costs money, but you don't get the good things for free ;) (well... you could play all the games on your home PC ^_^ I guess Microsoft was just fucked up when creating the box...)

How many people feel like spending 2,000 on a brand new PC just to play the latest games? Or what if someone (oh I don't know, like me) is in the Military with small living space or travels a lot so having a massive desktop isn't available (and desktop powered laptops are 3000+ USD).

Also, 99% of the games available on the xbox/pc are compatible with only Windows. Microsoft gets your money either way so if by buying the pc version you think you're dodging Bill Gates, your wrong. Also, XBLA games aren't available on the PC. The xbox and pc pretty much go hand in hand; if you buy KotoR for the pc you're supporting Bioware and Microsoft just as if you were to buy it for the Box.

You say this like it's FACT (oh shit... rexxz GET OUT OF MY HEAD)

@Marcus: I know that everything goes to Microsoft, but I'd still prefer PC games over console games in case of Microsoft (hence they're not converted to the PC, but developed for both platforms at once).
The costs for a high-end PC (you won't even need high-end for XBOX games) are surely high, but I doubt that someone will only play games that're also available for the box...
In your (special) case, it might be better to buy a box than a PC, but honestly... who can't live without XBOX games? ^_^

Ninja Gaiden, idiot. But the market would rather play a mindless easy game with omg rewards and trophies(like a retarded little league) like SSBM, whatever. NG alone makes the Xbox worth the price.

"128 bit?" I don't think there's anything 128-bit about these systems! There isn't really any such thing as graphics higher than 24-bit by the time it gets to your screen, and the processors nowadays are what, 32-bit? Anyway!

I only have a GameCube, but it's treated me very well. Specifically, it has Super Smash Bros Melee. It doesn't even need to have more worthwhile games (which it does) damnit, that one makes it worth it. I've played it for (probably literally) at least 20 times as long as any other game, and it only gets progressively more fun.

Most Xbox games don't interest me, and there are enough JRPGs to please me on PS1, but I'd still love a PS2 for games like Disgaea and God of War. In any case there's probably enough on any system to keep you busy that it doesn't matter. I mean, who can even afford every great game for any system anyway?

Gamecube, because despite a small library of good games, they do have several great ones:

FF: Crystal Chronicals
The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Soul Calibur II (Okay, so its on every system, but it still counts)
etc.

Yeah, I forgot about Ninja Gaiden... a nice game, and though I don't think that quantity makes quality, I found that buying a console for a single game isn't clever... also, God of War (PS2) surpasses Ninja Gaiden in my opinion.

PS: Mindless easy? You have no idea what this game is all about...

God of War was cool but I can beat GoW in the time it takes me to play a single level in Ninja Gaiden (exageration, but the game is still unGODly short).

p.s. PUNTASTIC

That my friends, is an example of market whoring.
Seriously. PS2 got stuck with HEIHACHI and the Xbox users got SPAWN...

...SPAWN AND HEIHACHI...

their names must be capitalized for emphasis.

Well...Spawn makes sense, cause who want's Master Cheif in Soul Calibur 2? But I coulda done without Heihachi...maybe they could have added Jak or something, I dunno. :-/
