Which is the best Final Fantasy Game?

Ok, i'll list them in order of greatness, IMO.

1) FF9, I loved the characters in this, the bad guys are awesome, and well...The storyline rocks. I also like the irony, the graphics are WAY too cheery, but there are a lot more sad parts than most of the others, especially Disk 3.

2) FF4, I can't really say why I like this one so much, now that I think about it. The bad guy sucks, most of the characters suck, but for some reason....I love it. The storyline is ok I guess.

3) FF3, I guess the reason I like this game and think to myself "This game is for the NES." When I think that, I realise how great it was for the time, it had great music, the class system, and it's also the first game to have auto re-targetting.

4) FF7, I don't care if you think this game is overrated or not, I know it is, but it's still a damn good game. There are too many plot twists, and it can get confusing some times, but lets face it, Cloud and Sephiroth own. *Hides behind flame wall*

5) FF10, I liked the battle system, and Seymour. I hated Tidus and all that, but Seymour owned, as did all his battle themes. Otherworld rocked! (No pun intended) I loved the way you could control your summons, and Seymour owned. The storyline sorta sucked IMO

6) FF6, cause of Kefka. He was the greatest bad guy ever, in my opinion, he was funny, cruel, and looked amazing, funny, and cruel. What more could you want? The storyline also rocked, but I think the characters and difficulty ruined it.

7) FF5, I didn't really like this one much, becuase of the sucky characters and crappy bad guys. I liked the class system though, and the fact that this FF was the one that introduced bad guys that you fight multiple times.

8) FF10-2, Um......The fast battles and Dressphere system. Thats it.

9) FF8, I prefer this over 1&2 purly because of the amazing battles and Junction System. Everything else sucked though, characters were bland, and the storyline was horrible.

10) FF2, I like this over 1 because it actually had plot twists and such. Not many though, and most where predictable. It's one of those games that included dungeons just to make the game longer.

11) FF1, Need I say anything? It had NO storyline, the characters didn't talk, and it bored me.

1.)Final Fantasy 7- Just a really great game to play.
2.)Final Fantasy 8- I loved the junction system
3.)Final Fantasy 6- Very good untill world goes BOOM
4.)Final Fantasy 9- I liked the characters and the story
5.)Final Fantasy 1- Just really Fun to play
6.)Final Fantasy 2- Loved the way you lvled up
7.)Final Fantasy 5- Job system FUN
8.)Final Fantasy 4- The main character is a Paladin
9.)Final Fantasy 3- ..... Its fun but boring at the same time
10.)Final Fantasy 10- Nothing good about this game. To easy and its just BAD
11.)Final Fantasy 10-2- Same as above but worst

1.)Final Fantasy 7- Just a really great game to play.
I agree, but it doesn't live up to what everyone says about it.

2.)Final Fantasy 8- I loved the junction system
That was one of my favorite parts of the game.

3.)Final Fantasy 6- Very good untill world goes BOOM
It becomes way to non-linear after that, and I like linear.

4.)Final Fantasy 9- I liked the characters and the story
Yup.

5.)Final Fantasy 1- Just really Fun to play
It's great at first, but does get very repetitive, and very hard.

6.)Final Fantasy 2- Loved the way you lvled up
Forgot to put that on mine, I love the level up system.

7.)Final Fantasy 5- Job system FUN
They had the job system in FF3, and in FF3 you couldn't change classes whenever, you had to have capacity. Thats why I think this job system isnt as good as FF3's.

8.)Final Fantasy 4- The main character is a Paladin
Depends how far you get into it.

9.)Final Fantasy 3- ..... Its fun but boring at the same time
I see what you mean, but where have you got up to on it?

10.)Final Fantasy 10- Nothing good about this game. To easy and its just BAD
It's easy yes, but I don't see how it's BAD. There are some very good parts about this game.

11.)Final Fantasy 10-2- Same as above but worst
A lot times worse.

V - Job system rocks!
VI - erm... It had chocobo's

Final Fantasy 9. Need I say more?
Nope.

V - Job system rocks!
Yes
VI - erm... It had chocobo's
So did II, III, IV, and V. I might have too.
VII - CLOUD and SEPHIROTH!!! nuff said!!
I guess. Characters don't make a game though.
VIII - Gilgamesh is Brill + JUMBO CACTAUR + Ragnarok
Odin>Gilgamesh
IX - well <<<<<<<< Vivi Obviosly!! and pretty much everything else!!
Yes
X - Otherworld theme!! and pretty much everything else!! (again)
Yes
X-2 - The Music was Ok and the game was too (until I got stuck @ the Magus Sisters And got rid of it due to stress)
Are you serious? The music on this was the worst music for ANY FF game, and if you couldn't even beat the Magus Sisters, then you must be REALLY underlevelled, or crap at the game. Or both.

I thought the boss music in Final Fantasy 10 was fucking awesome. The graphics as well. But...the sphere thing, I'm sorry to say, but I didn't like it. I would prefer materia or AP or something.

I thought the boss music was adverage, but it had the best final boss theme EVER! Graphics were amazing, and he sphere grid was adverage, not the worst thing ever. I hated FF9's system, way too basic.

Personally I'd have to say, with the overtones of symbology and the fact that it more or less defined the archetype of the classic rpg - you see many replicas of it around the various gamemaking sites - that Final Fantasy IV carries the best Final Fantasy title.

I am particuarly fond of FFIX owing to it's style, and various classical fantasy influences upon the story, and the little touches of Shakespearean humour.

While I agree that FFVII is a great game in it's own right, it is clearly not the best of the bunch and is frequently devalued by the simpletons who going around declaring it to Humanity's Greatest Accomplishment. Yes, out of all the games, it is the deepest and can be read on so many levels; One of the reasons I think it carries such resonance with gamers. Additionally it also carries an undercurrent of a stylised "our world" edge: Always helpful when trying to click with people.

WARNING: My entire post contains spoilers for Final Fantasy VI and IX. It's best not to even read my post if you haven't played either of these.

Seriously? Final Fantasy III/VI. It was the only FF in my opinion with HUMAN characters. Like, every Final Fantasy games characters are super GOD ELITES that don't give a crap about the world's people. In FFVI (I'll refer to it as VI from now on), there was actually some MORAL AMBIGUITY, something that's completely lacking in most Japanese RPG's.

After the world blew up, everyone's hopes were crushed by Kefka. The characters stopped becoming ideological heroes and started acting like real people. The small details like Celes being bound to take care of Cid (and committing suicide if you killed him), Shadow's death if you didn't save him, the relationship BETWEEN Shadow and Realm (lol, lolikon), Cyan picking up the writing for that woman's dead husband (who she didn't know was dead), and Terra's hesitation over rejoining the team were all some of the greatest moments of character development I've seen in a videogame.

The first half of FFVI was your cliche LOL KILL THE EVIL EMPIRE schtick we've all seen in Star Wars but the last half just completely MURDERED the cliches and introduced this suprisingly dark (for a SNES game) storyline that console gamers just weren't used too.

FINAL FANTASY IX

This comes close second as the game doesn't try to act like something it's not. Final Fantasy VII tries to be epic but comes off as pretentious and Final Fantasy VIII tries to be a romance story but comes off as a badly written short story by an emo teenager. FFIX knew it what it was; it was a fantasy story and it didn't try to cover up its roots. It had dragons, black mages, giant swords, fantastic technology shrouded in magic, wonderous locations, and vast settings spanned across a massive globe. It was a simple game but sometimes simplicity is the best way to have fun because you're not bogged down by 1000 different things you have to take care of.

That, and this games characters were also interesting. Zidane went through several character changes as did Garnet, there was a small comraderie (some may call romance) between Steiner and Beatrix, Freya's overall depression over her amnesiac lover, Eiko's crush on zidane, Vivi's thought of knowing he'll only live a short life, it all came together to make some very vivid characters (although Amarant was sadly left out in terms of development). The last boss might have been a cheesy throwback to X-DEATH but the rest was gold.

Final Fantasy X had the chance to be the greatest of the Final Fantasy's as it was actually an EPIC ADVENTURE. Too bad the character's sucked because I would have really enjoyed it if Wakka, Lulu, and Kihmari weren't useless fillers, Rikku wasn't annoying, and Yuna wasn't so meloncholy. Tidus actually didn't bother me as most people complain about (I'd be pissed off too if I learned I wasn't REAL) and Auron was alright.
And that's my opinion/rant.

Hmmm I would have to say Tatics Advance is the best one. I mean it has like the best story of all to me, plus I like the way everything was done. But in 8 I couldn't stand Squall but I liked Zell. X Tidus was to whiny and in 7 cloud was just bad ass. Lol Tatics gets my vote as the best.

I forgot about Tactics which was pretty much THE BEST Final Fantasy in terms of characters that didn't suck (Delita >>>>> all FF badguys). But I usually don't even consider Tactics a Final Fantasy game as opposed to an extension of the Tactics Ogre universe as the game was really a ripoff of TO to begin with.

1.FFVI- First RPG ever and... well... I loved every character and the story is pretty well done! And Kefka... Cant forget that loonitic. Oh and music!
1.FFIX-Brought the old school FF back. It was so nostalgic! And... MUSIC....
1.FFIII- Job... Job... music... ONIONS!
2.FFV- More jobs! And music... and first mode 7.
3.FFIV- War was great. Crystals were great. Music was great...
3. FFX- I love this game alot. It is totally wiered.
4. FFII- I dont know why, but I love this game.
5. FFI- Same.
6. FFVII- I love Tifa... and... TIFA!
