How to create custom character sets, from start to finish in detail. I've seen a few tutorials for this, but they all focus on making one character, not on how to use techs to create any character.

I'm a newb who could use a tutorial for cutscenes (a newb friendly one). I've seen some, but I couldn't follow them. Also, I could use a tutorial for dialogue trees. I tried using the show choices event, but it doesn't allow for long enough responses.

EDIT: Sorry ccoa. I have yet to see your tutorial. I've been looking through many different sites for them, and I've been looking for keywords like cutscene and the like.

Actually, I want to do dialogue trees that are similar to Fallout.

An example:

Message: Hey kid! What you doin' ere? This isn't the place for yer kind.
Show choices

1. Ah, I see. I'm not looking to cause trouble. I'm looking for information, but I'll leave you guys alone. Sorry for botherin' you all.

2. Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't realize that this place was reserved for people with IQs below 100. I'll be going so you all can complain about your sister/wives.

3. No one tells me where to go. If you don't want to answer my question I'll show you just what this kid can do.

This is just a simplified example of what I'd like to do with my dialogue trees. They'd of course have many more layers of dialogue choices.

Tutorials... Oh yes...
Well, I'll agree with Atomic Gazelle on a cutscene tutorial. I believe that should help many people out.
Also, the dialogue tree can be extended by letting the show choices command having the possibility of scrolling through multiple messages. So like

Message; Can I have your phone number?
Show choices[Yes, No, Whatever, Ñext]
1.
Yes
2.
No
3.
Whatever
4. ~Next
Show choices; [I'm going to report you for stalking, don't have a phone, *kill*, ~previous]

EDIT; Ah sorry ccoa, I completely forgot about yours (probably because I've never taken the time to actually read through all that)

Er, cutscene tutorial in sig. I'm not really sure how I could make it more newb friendly than it already is, but if you have an idea, that's what the thread is for.

Recolor tutorial are the same for every program, hence there are two methods: Changing color one-by-one (palette-based) or change he hue of an image or parts of it (hue-based, results in palette changes, though).

Not really. The original tutorial I used was either for Photoshop or Paintshop (I can't remember which), but I was using The Gimp. Where the options and settings were located and even what they were called was sometimes quite different. It took me close to an hour of careful searching and experimenting to find the options in my own program that corresponded to the ones in the tutorial. It did help me in the end, but not nearly as much as it would have if it had been written for the program I was using.

Still, any recolor tutorial at all would be helpful. I'll write one myself, if I can figure out how to do it before anyone else gets around to it, but all of these programs are so freakin' complicated that I don't see that happening. I'm experimenting with PAINT.net now, and that's definitely less confusing than The Gimp, but I still haven't been able to figure out an efficient way to recolor a sprite.

Oh, and to keep this post on topic, a tutorial specifically for building houses using the RTP tilesets would be nice. I've more or less got my house building to the point that I can create decent looking buildings, but there are still a handful of house tiles that mystify me and making a house that didn't look like complete crap took ages. A step by step tutorial on how to put together a respectable building would be great.

How about a tutorial on making and using monsters/monster groups? It'd probably be a quick easy tutorial but one that could help people...including me.

An SDK tutorial would be nice, and a tutorial on other types of scripting other than Windows, as the full RGSS tutorials have too much in one go (just meh opinion).

i need a tutorial on how to rip and make tilesets from map of other games

for example, i got this map right here
http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/files/EXE/EXE6/Maps/Net%20Maps/ACDC.gif[/IMG]
but its very hard to rip it and make it into a tile set since the camera view is diff

lol is that supposed to be Hercule?
anyway I can really use a tutorial on how to make Skill animations please. Im not a noob, Ive benn using RPG Maker XP for almost 2 years but never got around to learning how to make my own skill animations. Somebody please help ME:(

Well, this is my opinion but I think a Tutorial specifically about creating a character for a RPG is needed. The little tidbits such as a characters past or there sign actually makes those characters more lifelike.
