What is your escape?

Books, Meditation, Art, Videogames, Math. Pretty much my whole life except work is an escape. And actually, I work at Geek Squad so sometimes I pretend I'm an undercover spy working for the government trying to track down computer criminals and recruit potential cadets. After all, reality is pretty boring, but my imagination is amazing.

This forum, lol (actually, no, this forum is more like procrastination)... For real though, talking to friends, dancing, singing, running or some kind of really physically tiring activity, video games, cleaning, going on some kind of adventure...

@Trevlac: That's too cool, you're a Geek Squad guy?  I used to make up that kind of stuff in my head when I was walking to class...

I compose music or write, mostly. Most of my time is spent teaching band class so I really dont have much of an escape =(

Yay for music teachers :) What kind of stuff do you do to get them motivated about music?

Usually I try to relate things to them (since they are high school kids and im only 3 years older than them). Most of them like video games so I try to give em some sheet music from games to learn. For my percussion ensemble I just like to show them differant performers from some old DVDs and they get real exited. So in a way, I suppose teaching is an escape :3

Ah!  Video game sheet music, that's awesome :)  I teach piano once a week at an elementary school, for fun I guess (and it's a nice break from working at my computer or in a studio), and I like working with kids.  The ones who want to learn are the easiest to teach (of course), but then there are the ones that are totally unmotivated... so I'm always looking for new ideas to get them into it.  Which instruments do you play?

Well primarily im a percussionist but Ive been playing the piano and bassoon much longer. I say primarily cause its my college instrument.

Edit: Pretty awesome you teach piano, Ive always wanted to!

And I've always wanted to learn the drums!  Whenever I compose something with an interesting percussion track, I always think "I wish I could actually play this live on the drums."  I guess I can keep a really simple beat (and of course there's always "Rock Band" on xbox, haha), but beyond that I never really get the chance to play.

I think percussion is the easiest to learn but prolly hard to master.

Either way, I sent you a PM so this thread doesnt get derailed :3

I'll read, or listen to music, or play on the Piano downstairs. Mostly I like creating things when I'm down. Sense of achievement once you've finished is very helpful. I might just watch some Anime though.

Still, when I'm down I get too touchy and angry, and my escape is normally plundered by the idiots who cause my "being-down".

Is it bad to say I can't escape? Distracted, yes, but i have the rather annoying habit of not dropping things until they become unimportant. That, and I an never seem to get anything done these days without being interrupted in the midle of it. Go figure.

That said, I can easily burn hours listening to music, or playing with anything customisable. I read a lot, but it takes a special book to grip me. I'm trying to get into science fiction - but the novels I've tried so far have writing styles that don't quite grab me.

Honestly, it used to be pot, but i cut off of that stuff (thank God)

Now, i read a book, Go to a library and read a book, play tales of symphonia for the 4th (or was it 5th?)
time (that game makes me happy for some odd reason), and sitting outside, closing my eyes, and being aware to everything around me. (so basicaly, meditation. this is honestly, so relaxing, and it clears me of any emotion.)

Sports, music, computer shit, games, doing random shit with friends, essentially.

2 girls 1 cup.

Hawt, why?. lol.

Anyway enough of that.

It's usually here, the computer, or playing on the consoles. I don't do much in life anymore though. Not a emo or anything. Gaming has consumed my life, but I do a three day run at the local gym.
