What do you do to break the routine

I'm just not that resilient! I went out on a long bike ride on a trail a few weeks ago and vomited for hours from heat exhaustion. (And yes I was keeping hydrated.) Though granted it was like 5 miles, and my bike was broken and stuck in 3rd gear, it would've been a hell of a lot easier if it weren't 98 degrees with 100% humidity @_@. Sucked hugely, not doing that again until it cools down/dehumidifies!!!! :(

Seriously? 5 miles is a "long bike ride"? That's only 8 km. I easily go 50km on the hilly-as-fuck roads I have around here. And before you say "oh hey the road is easy", on my old bike I once went 70km on a bumpy as balls trail. I was tired at the end, but I took it like a man.

Last weekend I went 130 km (80 miles) carrying probably 30lb's of luggage (everything necessary to make most repairs, plus food, plus 3 litres of water, plus a tent and a blanket) to my parents house and said hello. I broke it up into two days, leaving Friday night and doing 70km, sleeping the night in a tent, and then going 60km to arrive the next morning. It was loads of fun and I intend to go on another adventure probably next weekend. This is how I break the monotony. By quitting being a sissy and going on adventures.

Also, the solution to the heat is to pedal faster. It's Men's Air Conditioning.

Well I live in Florida and I fine biking really nice (even though its strenuous)
If you head out to one of the parks its really nice and has lots of shade
It drops a good 30 degrees and you can't feel the humidity as much
And you don't need a mountain bike because the easy trails are really flat ;0

Just two things: 1) you need bug spray
2) It costs around $4 to get into the park

[lots of words] but I took it like a man. [more words] ... It's Men's Air Conditioning.

a.) im not too interested in being manly, i should probably get a penis first before barking up that tree or atleast some flannel and doc martins

b.) im well aware that im not athletic, im not pretending i am nor am i trying to be. my typical bike ride is approx 3 or 4 miles then im good for the day. even on a mildly rigorous [for me] ride, i almost passed out from the heat. the point was that florida is gay :1

no need to get holier than thou on me because im not in shape, geez ;o;

Meh, even 3-4 miles daily is more than me, I do anywhere between 0 and 0, considering I don't go out on my bike much anymore, lol.

But if you're really lacking for something to do, how about trying modelling, and NO I don't mean be a model, I mean, buy some pottery clay, and a potters wheel, and make some interesting shaped pots and bowls, be creative, make a sculpture of a famous person or something you see on tele.

If you're not into that sort of stuff, you could always try multitasking, how about making cookies while having wild sex, ever tried that ? didn't think so... now get to it.

Hope that helped somehow, lol.

sculpting does sound kind of neat. its the only art i havent really dabbled in. i do love those stupid clay models of rustic houses you can buy in mexico ~

i looked up volunteer services in regards to animal care but they're super few and far between in tampa, and fill up quickly. since im planning on switching into wildlife biology i wanted to get a head start on it.

i also read about doing internships overseas, like in fiji and south africa. there are a lot of programs for sending over american/etc interns in medicine and to teach the natives English, but apparently there is also a demand for veterinary servicepeople too. Like 6 week - 6 month stints. That sounds pretty interesting to me, if I could somehow get rid of all this debt.

Has anyone ever done an internship for relief aid? Probably not but I figured I'd ask.

I'd like to have my bike back. My new house actually has some places I could ride. Too bad it got left behind at my old house :blank: .

Also, I love fishing when I get the chance. Really time consuming but fun at the same time.

Should move further north. Mayhaps Maine or New Hampshire

Oh come on, freezing your butt off in Oregon or Washington? They have the tamest winters in the north. If you don't like rain then it's not the greatest place to be but compared to states in the same latitude like North Dakota or Michigan their winters are very warm.

Try living in Canada for a few years and the northwest will be like nothing.

Back on topic. I found a neat little article that's worth taking a look at, full of information on little htings you can do to switch it up a bit. Check it.

Dadevster speaks the truth as far as winters up here. That is, as long as you're talking about the west coast. When you get to eastern Washington in cities like Spokane, the winters can be pretty bad. But along the coast, the winters are not bad at all. Almost pleasant. The summers are also all right, rarely getting over 100 degrees. (In fact, Seattle has only one day over 100 degrees on record.) The downside is that because the summers are relatively mild, virtually no one has air-conditioning. So for a few weeks out of the year, you're pretty miserable in the 90 degree weather with no air-conditioning.

The rest of the year, however, is incredible. (If you like the rain)

Well I wake up if I woke up early I start using the Laptop. After that I have to get ready for school to get a high school diploma [I need 1 more class and 5 Test].I do 2 hours of school then come back to home to do one of 30 things I do in the laptop. Then take a shower, eat, draw[rarely I do it],listen to Jrock in Ipod, and then read. After a whole day I rest and repeat the same process at the moment.

I may change habbits after I go to collage and get a job.

Overall I have a nice live and I do have problems every now and then but there not that horrible.

i live on the central coast of california, whats this "snow" you speak of? but seriously, agree 100% on the northwest winters being very tame, most of my family lives in chicago, and chicago winters are a bitch. those lakes spew forth some nasty weather. ive witnessed first hand 90 mph winds during freezing rain/snow/sleet/hail/rain storms (all of the above at once during the same storm mind you) and this is while its like 40-50 below (with wind chill factored in) oregon and washington havent got shit on that.

on topic now. i work full-ish time. so unless i want to be homless that part is pretty much fixed routine. but i have enough hobbies to keep things fresh. but then again a lot of them involve sitting at my desk. but i go thru spurts where i spend a lot of time out of the house. few weeks here and there of going out to bars with friends, or having little house parties. sometimes we'll go to the drive in, which im lucky enough to live fairly close to one of the few remaining in the US (theres only around 400-500 left while in the 50's there were over 3k) i get bored with routine pretty fast so i try to keep things exciting and change it up a lot
