Well, because you gave a pretty, for lack of a better word, stupid description of it.  If he's important then you should at least hint at it being important.  All I gathered from its bio is that it was built to help Lenna and that no one knows anything about it. But of course no one's going to know about it if its only been up and running for 2 weeks, right?  The way you worded it makes it seem like no one knows about it because its only recently been built, NOT because its supposed to be mysterious.

I assumed because of the lowsy facts you gave me about Zex.  And I'm not being rude, but seriously, you should define his character a bit more, but without telling us everything about it.

And, actually, there's nothing wrong with discovering all those facts after Lenna meets the dragon, but what's so special about the dragon, hm?  What about the dragon?  I don't know diddly-squat about it.  Is it an ancient dragon?  Can it talk?  Hint at how this dragon divulges this information.

@Luminier: nuh-uh!

Hey the website's gotten cooler, people!  It tells you when you submit a post if someone has replied before you and allows you to revise your post before its finally submitted.  Cool, huh?!

lol you'll see man.  I can't just tell you everything that happens.  I'll write a nicer little bio on Zex now.

Also, Zex's skill and upgrade system is posted.

EDIT: I rewrote Zex's bio.  Hopefully everyone likes it better.  I didn't really want to put how she used the old AIZ, but people were confused and didn't like Zex's info so I went ahead and said it =P

I don't expect for you to just tell me outright.  What I am looking for are "hints".

Okay, I have another question(and I expect you to answer my previous one, as well.): Are robots commonplace? I mean, if there are these docking stations all over the world, then automatons must be pretty common. And if you say thatthey were left behind by an ancient civilization, I will kill you.

If these robots are common, everyday things, then you should specify that they are. Otherwise, how will people know that an otherwise medieval(using a spear as a weapon=Medieval, or unoriginality.) world also has cool robots in it?

@Aran
Yuh huh!

Edit:

You could always just wait for the demo, and find out then. Honestly, I think he's given out quite enough information.

Well from the moment the game starts, the robotic technology is a couple years old, and there are newer versions of it throughout the world, but Lenna uses the old version to create Zex, so he's a tad different from normal robots.

There are docking stations all over the world.  Probably 3(maybe?) in each big city.  Of course, a robot can only be used at a docking station once (at least for the version Lenna uses, so you'll have to be careful at what you do at the stations)

Hopefully I've answered everyone's questions. ^_^

I agree with Luminier, though I think it'd be fine if Zex was left behind by an ancient civilization.  It's cliche but if the shoe is seasoned well, eat it, right?

@Luminer: Nuh-uh. *draws pistol*

@xephyr14: I don't think you answered Luminier's.  He asked if robots walk around in the world like in I, robot or Star Wars, get it?

I chuckled.

But seriously, it's just so overused. More so than the sixteen year-old farmboy, swordfighter, with a heart of gold. I just don't like it anymore, and I know that many others would agree with me.

Hey, Xephyr, you forgot to answer my question about Zex's cooking talents! I must know.

@ Aran, once again.

Yuh, huh! *Draws lightsaber*

Maybe not cooking, but Zex will do PLENTY.  trust meh.

Oh, and no ancient civilizations here.  Just a discovery that certain pieces of ore and ingredients makes a robot, I guess o.o

XD. Now that was funny.

@xephyr14: Would you like me to assist you in thinking out your story a little more?  I can't work a lot seeing as I have my own project (check the sig!), but I can help when I can.  Do you have AIM (not with a rifle)?

@Luminier: o_O *drops pistol, hops on bike and burns rubber*

I have msn o.o

I posted the newly improved intro map (sorry, its a big image....i didnt feel like cutting the rest out.)

I think it's better now.

Uh, well, now it looks like the tower is sitting on top of the water. Not in it like I'm sure you wanted it to look. Plus, it could still look better. Right now, it's nothing amazing, but nothing terrible.

You should attend the Mapping Academy, it should help you out with your mapping.

I sort of like the idea of advanced robot technology in an otherwise medieval setting. It's sort of Miyazaki-ish, with a touch of steampunk (HEY ITS ME WITH MOAR STEAM) added in. Of course, as-is the robot looks way too futuristic to be the fruits of a piece of technology only a couple years old. I suggest you get a good artist to draw a robot that looks a little more... primitive. Steam valves, something more medieval instead of lasers (a robot that attacks with daggers out of its wrists would be pretty cool,) etcetera. It's an interesting design choice to have some samples of high technology, but only to a certain point; after all, how does it make sense for robot technology to be the only science that's undergone significant development? Just downgrade the robot a little to help along the suspension of disbelief.

Also, the story's a little tough to chew near the end, nom nom nom. Why are this dragon's scales worth twenty thou, for instance? I can understand a bounty or something for a beastie that's eating up all the livestock, but as it's phrased it seems like the monster's only there for the bounty, and doesn't do anything significant other than waiting to be killed for money cash.
For another, there's the matter of her mother's illness. If she's in imminent danger of death, why take weeks building a robot before doing anything?

And a couple small things that I'm just adding to be a dick: The doctor sounds like the Godfather. "Give me fifteen thousand by sundown or your mother gets lynched. Capice?" And try to elaborate a little more on the Gift of the Valkyrie. Since she's obviously not the kind of valkyrie who leads fallen warriors to Asgard, what is a valkyrie in this particular world?

This game's not without potential; for instance, the robot skill thing seems like a nice feature. It just has a couple things to clean up premisewise. I'm looking forward to a demo!

And what does "Sylpharis Nova" mean, exactly? I speak only two languages, both of the English.

At the time of the story, the robots have already been around a couple years.  That's all I can give o.o

It's a very rare dragon that's not seen very often, and their scales are pure silver.

The doctor can't perform the operation without the required money.  Valkyries are really just warriors with advanced fighting techniques and wings here.  Being a Valkyrie really just means here that your gonna be badass, to put it short.  However, Lenna learns a secret ability of the Valkyries at the fight with the dragon (and no, I won't tell anyone).

And...I don't know what the words mean >_> I made em up.

's a bad idea as far as titles go. Titles should generally relate to the game somehow.

Exactly my point. Robots have only been around for a couple years. Why is it that in that time they've developed lasers and all that while everyone else is restricted to using lances and such?

And the doctor bit was just a lame attempt at humor, don't worry yourself about it. ^_^

You didn't address anything that Gearpunk said!  He's asking why, if they have the technology to make super-advanced robots with lasers, and shit, why they can't make other stuff, like televisions, telephones, cars, etc.. Huh? That's a very good point which I had not addressed.

In this day, and age even we don't have robots with fully-functional AI, complete with emotions, and such. And we especially don't have any laser gun toting 'bots!

Explain that, Sampson McGrew.

>_> its an rpg world people.  Gimme a break.  RPG's aren't realistic.  Smart wizards (uh.....scientists, rather) came up with a way to fuse certain ores and magic together to create a way to make inaminate objects think or their own.

Lasers are just guns that shoot hot beams of light.  >_>

Ugh. That's what people say when they haven't thought something through.

The fact of the matter is, that if you say stuff like that, you're not gonna immerse the player!

With something like this, players will ask "Hey, if they can use magic to make robots, then why not TVs, or computers, or Nintendo?!".  That is a bad thing. You want the player to become immersed in the game. That way, they can become attached to your characters, and really get into it.

I'd say follow Gear's advice, and make Zex more of a steampunk style robot. That way, the player will probably retain their suspension of disbelief.

While it doesn't really "fit", I like the idea of having a robot. Maybe, to make some sense, the robot could be powered by a combination of "Ancient Magical power stuff" and technology? Just an idea.

Luminier said most of what was need to point out. Work on the mapping, I don't find your story too bad, though.
