I don't know if it was even in the book or not but GODDAMN YES they really got it right.
Neville killed Voldemort. He was the one to do it.
The prophecy originally was very vague - the one to kill Voldemort would be:
a, born at a certain time and of a certain age and various other things
- - therefore could either be Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom
b, chosen by himself
By not going after Neville, he made Neville into the underdog. He felt he had to prove himself, and so finding the sword of Godrick he went after Nagini and finished the job.
The prophecy never said Harry Potter by name, and indeed Harry was not the one the prophecy spoke of in the end.
It really made it look like they'd thought it through even if it was just a coincidence.
