your features is more than five words. conciseness is an incredibly useful skill to master for lots of things, especially design. and especially in advertising. you need to PITCH this, and having a shitload of images is attractive for people who are wowed by such simple things. but i'm not that easy, tiger.

let me repeat myself. you seem to have missed the point. i'm not asking for FEATURES, i'm not asking for WHATS THE GAME ABOUT, i'm not asking for WHAT IS THE GAMEPLAY LIKE. although those things might factor into this, my question is:

WHY WOULD I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME. if you can't answer that, you fail as a n advertiser and ultimatley as a designer

you only used three of the words since naming random jrpg's doesn't tell me shit.

FREEDOM and EXPLORING should be a part of the rpg experience anyway and CHALLENGE doesn't sound entertaining since in rpg's typically CHALLENGE can be translated to "FRUSTRATING"

so i think i'll pass on this one.
 
Wow dude, the menu looks a lot better. Originally I was going to comment negatively on how visually busy the previous one was, but I'll take this into account now.
 
also yeah your new menu does look a lot nicer but it still looks like garbage. why not stick with your windowskin? VISUAL CONSISTENCY is incredibly important

You know, at first, I was really annoyed at you. Still am, but in a more positive sense. You see, when Vennie or Volrath say something negative, I take it into account because they've also acknowledge some of the good things I did.

You, on the other hand, only seem to be able to bitch and complain. So even if you go about and say something negative, who cares? It's just Despain being Despain.
 
i also never lie. if you take what i say i GUARANTEE that your game will be a LOT BETTER. don't disregard me just because i don't want to waste my time sugarcoating shit. when my shit is bad, i want people to tell me. it's how we improve.

if you ignore my advice because i'm not being POLITE then that says a lot about you I think and I feel bad that I'm wasting my time trying to help you improve your project.
 
if something is good then there's typically no reason to comment on it for me. other than to like BLOAT UP YOUR EGO and BRACE YOU FOR THE BAD (which is horrible artificial). i want to get right to the PROBLEMS so we don't waste time and effort so you can really just work on fixing what needs to be fixed.
 
asking for POSITIVE STUFF to CUSHION the rough stuff is INCREDIBLY immature and i thought you were a lot better than all the 13 year olds that run around here wanting their prepubescent dicks stroked because they made a final fantasy game

hey man if that's what you need to keep going then go for it dude. anyone serious about this kind of stuff though would understand that it's the "negative" feedback that is significantly more positive. i don't really get why you people say that my feedback is "negative". it's not. it's just criticism, neither positive nor negative. telling someone HEY GOOD JOB is not "POSITIVE CRITICISM", it's not criticism at all.

I played this game and I must say I'm impressed. It's everything I wanted in an RMXP game. Good use of the RTP, too. When it comes to Misao voting time, I got your back.
 
I feel bad for you if you think complimenting the good shots is a waste of time. It's just as important to highlight the positive aspects as the negative ones when commenting or reviewing or criticizing.

It's not about sugarcoating or circlejerk. If all you do is bitch and exaggerate about how everything looks like shit, why not just hand over the razor blades along with it? And after a while, it's hard for anyone to take you seriously.

Maybe you think it's weak, or "uncool", but being polite can go a long way. All you're doing with your blunt criticism is make people angry, and in turn, they're far less likely to listen to you? That's how people work, even if you're completely right, say it like a jerk, and they'll respond with a contrary statement. It's like a pill, it passes really bad without water, and you're just bound to cough it up.

Being polite, acknowledging the good shots, encouring. That is mature. Screaming to hell back and something looks like garbage, and going "you won't have the honor of me playing this", that is immature.

EDIT: People say your criticism is negative because it makes people feel like they're complete morons. Des, you may be very good at finding weaknesses, but you're awful when it comes to give it.

EDIT2: Maybe Des is making me paranoid, but Kav, I am not amused.

you're right, pointing out good things can often be good. when i'm playing through a game, if something is neat then i'll certainly make a comment about it. but in your topic here, i don't see anything at all that stands out to me. it looks like a generic rmxp game. which is why i asked you: WHAT MAKES YOUR GAME STAND OUT

you haven't been able to answer that. the closest you got was comparing it to commercial jrpg's, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what i'm looking for. what makes your game UNIQUE. what makes it TO ANYWHERE? what makes this its OWN GAME?

note that i haven't really given you any real feedback yet at all, i'm asking for you to narrow your focus here for the sake of those who might be interested. focusing in on SOMETHING that makes your game SPECIAL is incredibly important, and for some reason you're just totally blowing it off (because i use the f-word maybe??)

here let me give you some examples:
Master of the Wind drew me in initially because it was SUPERHEROES.
Sandfall has a UNIQUE SETTING and much of the game is about the world.
Pokemon is about CUSTOMIZATION in breeding and raising your team.
Super Mario Galaxy has ZANY GRAVITY EFFECTS that put a new spin on platforming.

now your turn! GO!
 
To Anywhere is about PLAYER'S FREEDOM. Choose your own team and grow them the way you want. do the missions in any order you want. Hell, don't do them at all if you don't want to. Find things the author never expected you to find! (only Min Chan found one of the secret massages so far).

Damn, it is hard to do explain it in 5 words. Although, the way you did it is a bit "Oh, right, I played the game it IS about that".

i'm probably the best member on this forum for giving criticism. the problem is that very few are good at receiving.

editing your posts to respond after i've posted is lame. imo you should doublepost to keep the flow of conversation more natural and avoid confusion. i'm not insulting you here a lot of people do this and i don't really get why.
