TL:Community Logo Contest

Are you after something pretty extravagant like khmp's or a more corporate logo like Steams itself?

more like something simple like steam itself. BUT I really like khmps. I may need to double the first prize to simple logo and something else. cause khmps is very nice. and would be go for posters and stuff but i really need something simple for letterheads and simple things like emails and sigs. as well as a small logo for things like game cases and other advertising mediums.

something that will remind people of us.

khmps is pefect for a site or for poster just not that. I will think about putting up a other prize *or just paying Khmp to use his in a certain way.

Okay, how about this as a concept.  I tried to represent the idea of a community lost with a beacon guiding them, it's the only way I could thinking of tying in "The Lost" into a visual representation to make it more memorable.  I don't know about the typography, perhaps it needs to be a little more professional but that font kind of gave me the feeling of being lost.  I used a gradient as everyone else was but it can easily be 3 colours only.  Or I could add some greys in to make it mesh with your site template even more.

the tl:community bit looks really great. im not soo keen on the lighthouse idea but i do like where you are going with it.. I feel that it still looks a little more fussy then it needs to be.

a pair of eyes, magnifying glass, map, or just simple shapes would be better suited to the simply idea i was thinking. but good attempt :D

Yeah at that point I didn't know if I was supposed to make it more visual / artsy or more of an actual logo so I was stabbing somewhere in the middle.  I'll make something more simple.

i think a mix between this one and calibers would be good. with calibers font and sizes with this as the kinda logo but have a little man waving his arms or a couple of people.

Alright, i put a hiker in and found a font similar to Calibers.

There is also a bit of a color difference on the hiker, but it is fixed now.

its better then your last attempt. but just the simple fact that its saves as a jpg has put me off it. also the font looks no where near as good as the one caliber picked... i know thats just an opinion. but also this kinda logo would look good in the same kinda dimensions as calibers and not so wide. maybe some other way of visualising the island so its not so thick and white. also a boreder around the whole box would be cool.

Different file format, easy enough. New font, i'll look for more tomorrow. So you don't want the 640 x 480 anymore? Change the look of the island and a border. Alright will work more tomorrow.

thanks man... 640x480 was just in idea for the size. to stop people making logos like your little breeze revolution one. i mean it looks great but to small for a webasite logo and posters really.

Ok, I've gone the other way now, more of a basic corporate logo for a company and I've posted different stages of development and variations.  You can say bits you like or don't like from each so I can mix good parts together (If there are any good parts.)  So yeah, just something simple.

I was trying to stay clear of the whole island thing initially because I though it had too many connotations of LOST the tv programme, but seeing as you said you wanted a mix of mine and the other guys, I did it anyway.

I do really like the last of the three calibres done. I would like to see it around the same dimentions of the lighthouse one u did. but also i would like  thelost: bit taken out and just the tl:community you used on the lighthouse version.

As for the dimensions, because you haven't provided a height / width ratio such as 5:3 everyone has designed them in different dimensions for different reasons.  The lighthouse one was more narrow because of the inclusion of the lighthouse.  The one above has a stretched and extended lettering.  I could try and redesign it but isn't a wider, shorter one better for an internet community for banners etc?

As for putting in the tl:community okay that's simple enough, then it won't say the lost anywhere on it, is that okay?  As people won't know what tl:community stands for.

You could try the tl:community as the-lost:community or something along that line. and have the orange line from the last one (the onrange line before community be the horisontal line on the "t" i dont know but i really think its going somewhere this design
