The Reason!
Me and the "Guys" are currently creating a online gaming site that will be launched in about 1st June. We are throwing loads of ideas about for a logo but none that really hit us as right. This contest is a way of us to get some good ideas on what kinda logos we can have.

What We Want!
we simply want a logo based around TL:C, The Lost or The Lost Community. We would like to use the "Winning logo" as our sites logo for at least the first 3 months. Orange, baby blue and black+white are colours we are interested in but any colors are accepted. all logos must be sent at a minimum of 640x480.

All work must be in BEFORE the 24th of May. Then 7 days for public voteing.
FIRST PRIZE (The one we use, If any) = 25$

I'll be participating. I'll probably work on something tonight or tomorrow night. And just so you know, Orange+Baby blue are fugly color combinations but Orange + Black + White are pretty wintastic. Let me see the site for a better idea of your overall "feel". I can do any style such as tech, polished, grunge, abstract, fantastical, glitter, urban, all kinds so by seeing the site I can better decide what style to use.

well... something urban would be cool. but the site is still being built and represents nothing like it will be when finished. I was thinking of something quite minimal but also abstract. but like i said. even if its not one we pick you still have a chance at the money

lol thats the only real restriction.

The only reason for that is that we will be making posters for universitys in the uk. so need it to be quite high res

Something Simple i figured would be nice. A lower case "t" and "L:" inside a "C" lol... I avoided the impluse to make a joke about it soundling like Tender Lovin Care and didn't put any hearts in it lol. It's also very easy to edit the color schemes and values because i have it saved as a vector image so i can easily resize, re color, and tweak it.

Edit: Changed the Black part. (always a work in progress i swear.)

hey i knida like the idea. but i think a capital T and L would look better... and problery not linked as they are. but i do like the concept. and i think i would use this as a publisher logo in the future. you know to replace the (c) lol

lol u cant replace the (c) that's the symbol for Copyright, aka the protection of your work from other people wanting to profit off your ideas lol. Also you need to go through the patent office to officially have that logo :P

yea sure it is. do as many as you like. infact i will say what i like and dont like about each logo made so if people fix them theres more chance of the win
personally it looks a bit fussy i think and its not at the sizes in the rules lol.

try and think simple and styleish in not really into the box idea ither. but a good try none the less :D

Can you clear up a few things for me please.

What do you mean by online gaming site specifically, why will people go to this particular site and what games does it involve.

What theme does the website use - it's template, or at least the proposed theme.

Does "The Lost" actually refer to something, if it does I don't know what it is.

If you'd like specific colours such as you'd mentioned  could you provide the pantones for them please.

the site is going to be a place for people that create games (not just on RPG makers) and also mods for commercial games. We are setting up a beta testing team and also in the middle of making a program (kinda like Steam) so that all the mods, games and movies can be downloaded direct to someones computer and ONLY launched via the progam.

The Lost is as in The Lost Community. as in a vast majority of our functions will be based around a select few. we will be running our own gaming clans and teams as well as renting out game servers.

apart from that its all there. the site is in very early dev.

OK, that's more helpful but there was one question you didn't answer and I've thought of one more.

Do you want to provide the Pantone PMS Numbers or is this purely for on-screen use? (scrap that you wanted posters so I probably should use pantone colours if you're going to be printing professionally. )

Do you want the logo limited to a select amount of tones, if so how many?  (i.e. are gradients ok or do you want more of a branded logo that sticks to a 2/3 colour palette)
