Apocalypse: There is a way to remove the grid. I have RMXP uninstalled at the moment so I can't say for sure, but I remember it being mentioned that theres an option in one of the dropdown menus at the top to remove the grid from the events layer for better previewing.
 
LOL, I feel embarassed, all this time using RMXP and I didn't realize there was an option to view the other layers' undimmed, so that in any view other than event you can see the map normally.

If it's not rude to say..you need major help with your maps =X
 
So perhaps giving him some sort of advice may be of use?

Apocalypse - BTW, they really aren't that terrible, I've seen far, far worse. You just need alot more detailing on them and to kill the large empty spaces in one way or another.

@Sieghart, quite nice. THe only thing that bugs me, is that the greek letters are not Acient Greek. You probably just typed an text and converted it to greek symbol lettertype, what makes it that the 'h' in the is actually tee. Etc.. etc..
 
The Greek bugged me too, I have to say ^_^ See what happens to the world when people don't get a good education in classics! Apart from that, the whole thing was really impressive. It has a real dark feel to it.

Old one. The rounded look doesn't fit very well and in all honesty, it looks pretty shite. The old one is nice and simple, which is always good.

It's an actual screen. Yeah, its very cluttered i must admit. I need to tone down each bar to ~50 pixels instead of 60. Then I need the skill bar (very top) to be thinned out and moved to the side.

It's not custom made for my game, it's just RTAB with Animated Battlers, and some display script from a demo from Utopian Chaos.

I appreciate the constructive input guys. Tech demo will be out in a few days.

About the Greek, what he did was type in something, then changed the font to Symbol. I know, since I've done it before too ;D

Which ones? The two guardsmen near the blue poles? I may do that, they are an experimentation of character coloring, I wanted to see what it'd look like without outlines

It's kinda the tree autotile on top of a "box" to make it look like planters that can be adjusted at will...but I did try to recolor the box itself and am posting a screenshot without the fog layer. Does it look a little bit better?

I like this pic, but I think the fog layer was just fine. It gave it some atmosphere. The screen is very nice as is the tileset. I think it fits in well with the RTP.
 
The room is very busy, and you are not using the shadowing correctly. I have trouble telling if on both sides they are stairs, or a change of floor. And also cut down on the chandeliers.

Yeah that was exactly what i did...
but if others bugged off by that greek thingy maybe i should change it to something more interesting...

so what should i place their?
can somebody give me an idea about that?
