Here's my mapping engine in very early stages.

The "PSX" mode (Makes it look like a PS1 game) needs some work, and part of it involves rewriting the sprite engine. Can't wait to get some props in there! Time to once again (For the 225th time) attempt a 3D modelling program!

Awesome Bro

Are you atleast having sprites as characters instead of 3D models though? Because that will look pretty cool once you get some other stuff in there (As you're already planning to do lol...)

Been trying to map in Ace for the past week. So far I've stuck to making small environment and then cluttering them with whatever's appropriate in order to make them look good. I also remember an old lighting trick, but I can't recall the tutorial. Regardless, they don't look quite right, but I'm not sure what's up.

It's a kitchen, with multiple windows, hence very little shadows. Not sure about how it's meant to look on the other side of the walls, though..

Dining Hall, lighting from just the fire, also I buffed up the tint a little.

That's what's up! If you don't mind me asking, is the script available for public use? :blank: Eye candy is always fun to play with when making maps.

Just thought i would show off some screen shots of what i'm working on... it's been in development for years.. and i have hardly gotten anywhere with it, several graphics changes later... and it needs a title.. i'm not even sure what the title needs to be...
I had a title but people gave me crap about it..... but recently i seen someone with a project that they were making... and they gave it a similar title to the one i was going to use.. so i dropped it... i need a new title and i dunno what to go with.

Anyhow, screenies.

Just talking to some old guy.

Map.png

Part of my map, it's still being worked on.

MountainEntrance.png

Entering Domel Mountain, but the guard won't let me pass.

Mmmmmncake.png

Cakes!

Jumpingoffabuilding.png

Their will be places you gotta jump on or off of things.

Battle.png

Battling some slimes!

BattleResults.png

Woo hoo! I won!

Town.png

One of many towns.
So anyhow, that's some of what i got so far.
And i suck at titles, and even though it's clearly a Final Fantasy fan game, i prefer to not call it as such....

Awesome Bro

Looking at your battle victory screen, it would be incredibly easy to make that more appealing. I would limit the number of those four character screens on the right side based on the current number of party members, and adjust the size of the loot window based on the amount of items gained.

I'm going to be as nice as i can about this.... their is not much i can do about the victory screen, it's not even the kind i wanted, but i'm not a scripter.
I did well enough to get it to look like that, at first it was more like the FF7 battle report, but i like seeing my party members celebrate, so i managed to get it like that... and that's about as good as it's going to get sadly, it's not even my script, it's a slightly moded one.
Originally i wanted a victory results like the actual early FF games had... but i can't script.. it's not my high point.. and i can't get anyone to help with scripting.... (i been barking up that tree for years and gave up).

Oh and thankyou Amy!
Those are just slight updates... i plan to go further with the graphics... it's got some RMVX Ace tiles in use.. but i plan to stop using them... i'm trying to replace all the tiles with some from the PSP FF games.
The overworld character sprites are mods.. i basically designed them to be a low resolution.. but later after seeing another game using a similar style... i can't recall the game's name.. but it's .. Final Fantasy something rather... anyhow i blew up the sprites and moded the heck out of them to be more high res.

Awesome Bro

I'll recommend posting the script in its entirety in the help thread with a question of how to get it to do the things I suggested. I will make a point of fixing it personally tonight if nobody responds by then.

Got some nice stuff here Mike.
Love the character graphics.
But they don't fit with...well the rest of it :p
Though you seem aware of this, keep it up!

I like to mix it up.
The charecters are blown up FF styled graphics that i reworked, and seeing as how "the rest of it" is all from final fantasy games on the PSP, i would say they fit rather well honestly.

Currently updating the tiles a bit, trying to make them match more.
As for the player sprites... i'm not sure what to do there honestly.
Thought about modding some sprites from the PSP FF games to look more original.. but i'm kinda worried that might not be good enough either.

-update-
Redid a few things, got rid of some graphics, added some others.
Village.png

Same area as a screen shot above, but i changed out graphics and changed the shadows.

Bakery.png

Again, an area from before but i changed out the wood building for a more brown bricked one.

Ontheroof.png

I like the idea of being able to stand out over a building and look down at things.

Notgettingby.png

They're not letting me by.

I realize people don't like my sprites... i'm trying to figure a way to improve them, but i wanna keep that style, they're basically just a higher rez version of the graphics used in Final Fantasy 4 the after years on Wii, but i uprezed em and made em more detailed..

Who's been saying they don't like ya sprites? XD
I know I love those characters, great style.

Just most of the rest doesn't feel like it ties in with that style ;)

It should tie in just right, that's what's not making any sense to me at all!
Their all from 2D final fantasy games, they should be right at home with each other!
*slams head on desk* gahhhh...
