Looks like a great start but there are a few problems..

*The cliffs are to small, seriously the character could just reach over them haha.
*The ground tile doesn't match the character very well, just look at his shoes and you can see why.
*The character is a completely different style to the tile, they don't fit at all.

Keep at it and you'll get their.

*The cliffs in this part of the map were never intended to be very tall at all. I personally see nothing wrong with a cliff around 6/7 feet tall (which is approx what these would be). Not every hill need be a mountain.
* I have absolutely no clue what you mean about the ground tile, besides maybe some bad repeating that I've only just noticed. Care to elaborate? [edit] Apparently Maks sees what you mean about the ground, so she's going to work on that
* This area is supposed to be really dry/dusty compared to the rest of the game, thus the dustier style. I do debate a sandy type fog or a slight color tint to help the character fit the area, but he is a bit out of his element.

And I suppose I should also say I was just working on the mapping ^^; Maks is the one who created the tileset. (though I personally think it's her best work so far)

I agree, not to mention the shape of the lower part looks really nice. I like it.

I don't think it's that, I think it's the fact he has bright Purple Sneakers which clash, but I mean I see nothing wrong with that. Clothing has nothing to do with surrounding for me. In real life if you had to blend in with your environment we'd all be wearing army suits.

I think it looks great.
Nice job.

Lisker, the maps are wonderful!

One complaint though, the castle has WAY too many windows.

I laughed really hard when I read that for some reason...o.O. But you are right, I took a long look at it myself and I am working on less windows. Thanks for the heads up.

I started finishing up the intro, and that means the playable content is at turn, this means tons of house mapping to do for a village haha. Here is the starting village ingame. It only has 6 houses, it's a small village in the forest.

In every part you will see what it looks like outside, then inside.

With the interactive items, you can open almost any closet:

Lisker, you are now my sworn enemy now.

Why? Because our games are quite similar. The storyline (Kingdom at war). The capital is very similar to mine, the starting village, and now the exterior of the Mayor's house is almost exactly identical.

But the worse part is your maps are a lot better than mine. They're very good and diverse.

Good mapping Black Shadow! Although I'm not sure If the vines on the side of the wall works like that, I'm pretty ure they are meant for flat surfaces. Also the shadow underneath the cave is opaque.

Haha, thanks for the compliment. I'm not an enemy =P. BTW I tried finding the game page for your game, but either I'm blind or the search engine fails but I cannot find it T_T. Let me know where it is, I'm curious about your game, I would like to try it.

Lisker, your maps are extremely gorgeous. I wish more people on this board would take from your example.

Thank you. I'm still trying to work around problems in my own way. I'm happy people like the results. Gives me the kinda motivation to keep going on this game.

I made an addition to the interactive objects. When you are in a house you can light the candles one by one. They will light up the whole floor, and you can do the same upstairs and in the basement. And in really dark places like the basement, when the candle is out, you won't be able to see shit until you light it. This means no examining barres for items, or racks for booze =P.

I made a lot of changes to some story content but no big ones.

And after playing Rieves' game Quintessence I decided to put even more emphasis to music in game to set the mood. He did an excelent job. Sadly I'm no composer nor do I play any kind of instrument so mine comes from various places. But I found some really really nice tracks.

I might even add in a skill that let's you learn piano songs so you can learn new songs from different people. And everywhere yo ufind a piano you can play those songs you like.

That's cos I haven't made one. I want to save it to the final release, because I don't want to post a half-finished game. Mainly because i have already made the two main dungeons. Now I just need to link them up with endless Overworld maps... :(

this isn't a major town in my game, it's just a place where a mansion side quest is and has access routes to a Biscuit factory, a forest and a temple.

@Xilef: Biscuit...factory? I hope I read that correctly. But please tell me this map is incomplete yes? And I do like the shape of the biggest house [[building if you will]] I think that has to be one of the most interesting shapes I have seen that tile used in. I am impressed man just get some more going in that map because right now it looks kind of....empty.

@Lisker: I really think you should use some type of lighting looking effect on that screen. It'd just make your screens look a littler better but thats a personal opinion. So whatever makes you happy. :] nice screens by the way.

Yes, Biscuit factory, this is Battle World RPG we're talking about.
There are gonna be hundreds of busy citizens and wildlife in certain areas to give it some movement and life.

I took your advice, and tried making a lighting effect in photoshop. But I'm about as artistic as a trashcan I dunno what to feel about it. It looks nice but I dunno...just something.

@megatronx that looks beautiful. I wish I had even 1% of that talent hahaha.

Didn't spend much time on detail, but:
<insert Hevendor's Example>

This should do the trick, I made the floor dark and I added the shadow like you depicted, I also lowerd the screen tone a lil bit more when the candles are out. It looks decent now:

For some reason it dun look darker, but it is. Not as dark as your example, because it is a lil too dark for daytime =P.

The ones you can touch, you can look at as well:

@Lisker: I love your maps :D Beautiful.

I'm not that great of a mapper but I guess I'll post a screenshot here.

Btw...that golden orb...its an enemy encounter. Just happened to get in the way when I took the shot.
Be brutal. I would like to know how to improve :thumbsup02:
