Well I wanna' join this, but my college-work is consuming my whole fucking life, it sucks...

I mean, I COULD do this, but the game would be very minimal in terms of gameplay and maybe even resources...

Hmm, actually I've just had a cool idea pop up for a game... I MIGHT be able to make it, although I'm not really a fan of making games with battles, unless... I can make some other kind of battlesystem, that keeps the game interesting, but doesn't get tiresome !

And commercial music is fine, right ?

Yeah, I'm really getting a cool idea coming along already, and it's taken me like... 5 minutes to think of !

Can we use the words "Recreation Room" instead of Rec Room?

Also, define "originality and innovation" - the last bit is a lot easier than the first bit. What are we talking here? Would I be marked down if my hero was rescuing a Princess from the dragon in the tower.... The... uh... Underground tower?

also, what would you say the rules are to commercial music? as is the case with rips, the songs are commercial property, and I'm unlikely to be able to get in touch with the creators for their permission.

It's like with ripped graphics - you need to credit where you got it from or who made it. Obviously we don't expect you to create the entire soundtrack to your game by yourself, so commercial music is expected. (however, the more original music, the better! :wink: )

Also, good point noise. I've added it to the FAQ.

Does this include music from professional bands?

Anyway, $150 USD, me likey, and now I have an official reason to put my regular project in the back burner! yay, no more making graphics, after graphics, after graphics...

I have noticed the absence of writing/storyline in criteria. Does that mean we're free to do a Tetris-thing if we like with no story at all :biggrin: ? But it seems most people will do standard RMXP game tho. Are they any rewards if they have a kickass writing/story?

don't stress yourself over the semantics. if it's neat or fun or interesting then that's the most important part.
