i experienced a 7.3 magnitude earthquake in california in 1992. though i wasn't in the epicenter, so i think it was more in the very high 6's. i was 8 or 9 at the time and living in a tiny 1-bdrm apartment. my parents had the bedroom and i lived in the living room. i remember waking up dazed in the middle of the night to the 2 cats in the apartment going batshit crazy everywhere. then a minute later while i was still in bed, the whole building started to shake as if it were falling apart. things fell off shelves, chunks of ceiling fell on me, windows broke, refrigerator fell forward, and a sound like ... as if you were standing under a jet engine taking off. it shook so hard even in bed it felt like dozens of hammers wailing on me.

then it kind of drifted and stopped. there were small tremors afterward. a few minutes later my mom ran out and yelled at me for not barricading myself in a doorjamb and my argument was that i was 8 or 9 and had no idea what the hell she was talking about.

it was pretty cool! i wasn't even scared at the time--it hurt quite a bit as i recall, and it was certainly something that stuck with me forever, but mostly i just remember going " :blank: what"

sucked afterward though because apparently when cats are THAT freaked out they release their bowels EVERYWHERE.
but schools were closed for a few days and a fire hydrant outside exploded so that was pretty fun to kick around in the next day.


what is/was your favorite grade in school (non-college)? (and why)

idk why but it was just a good year.
Lots of doing random shit, still had field day, quite a couple of great teachers witclash no shit teachers, first real crush that year (ended bad I said screw you on the last day of school for no reason lol), moving around trailers doing shit, honors s without actually doing crap, free time, shit, man i just LIKED that year, idk

haha wow that sounds both frightening and exhilarating at the same time, especially since I live in California too. it feels like it's one of those things you never know until you experience it, though.
The cats went crazy before the earthquake began? I've heard about animals predicting these things but never knew if it were true, or how it worked. pretty interesting stuff.

dreams that escape your mind whenever you wake up-- I'm sure you've all had that experience. This is going off on a tangent, but sometimes I really want to lucid dream-- consciously thinking your subconscious' thoughts sounds kinda cool, no?

You have one hour and unlimited resources (including labor) to invent a contraption that would help the world in a major way. What would you make, how would you make it, and how would it help the world?

I really don't know what to tell you on that; I'm a Christian and I'm pretty satisfied with my current deity and denomination. Can I alter my wish to "destroy the Jbristianic church?" They are quickly becoming a problem >_>

Taking every limitation you would have into account, do you think you would be a capable and successful leader of your country? This is without altering the political system your country has, so no going all dictator on everyone.

I doubt I'd be able to contend with the political pressures and stresses. Honestly, having to cope with approval ratings and not pissing off any number of important voters makes our presidency a shitty job. How is one supposed to enact policy changes when half the political spectrum disagrees with your every opinion?

Really, I'd probably make a better dictator. What about you? Given absolute control over an entire country, do you think you'd be just and fair, or would you abuse your power?

I can't really answer that realistically because I don't have a thorough understanding of politics. Assuming I kept my current mentality on things and had the resources, I believe I could solve a number of America's problems, although I would garner much disapproval from the general public on how I would go about executing my plans. In a nutshell, I would crack down on illegal immigration, deporting families that come to America illegally, including any minors that were born to them. Any person born to an illegal parent that is over the age of eighteen would be eligible for testing for citizenship.

While that is happening, I would try to increase exports from America by some means. Any major existing company that requires financial aid would be approved, but only under the terms that they reach a certain level of output within two - ten years. I'd also attempt to decrease exports, but I seriously doubt that is possible at this point.

This is a fun question, though. Same thing, would you be a good dictator?
