The Cerion Conception

This is one of the most entertaining demo's I have tried as of yet. Not the most visually pleasing..which proves that story is more important :)

One small technical aspect is that after battles the background music seems to go away all together in many cases. A small point, but I find games more enjoyable when they have their music.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

This is one of the numerous errors I believe that I have corrected in version 1.2, which will (as I said) hopefully be released Saturday. This new version will make a stinkin' ton of upgrades, so I would highly recommend waiting for it before playing anymore unless you are already far in.

I am pleased to say that version 1.2 of the demo has been released!

It should hopefully make a ton of vital improvements to the game, both from a playability and from a aesthetic standpoint.

Please download it, try it out, and let me know what you think! I expect a few gaping errors I missed, but I ought to be able to fix those. Thanks in advance for the download and for trying it out!

Hey you are right.Story is way more important than graphics(But graphics is not unimportant).Look at ff7 and ffx.FF7 is rated as the best rpg ever but FF X with superior graphic got much lousier rate.By the way thanks for the tip before.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Wow, has it been awhile since someone posted in this or what...

Production has not slowed down; my composer is still hard at work, my artist has almost completed a large number of portraits, I have finished Alice's aspect of the battle system, and done a whole bunch of mapping. As well, I've made map improvements, battle system balances, and gameplay tweaks.

In short, this project is still very much active, and the story/world is becoming more and more fleshed out virtually every day. And, as a philosophy major in college, I constantly learn new and interesting concepts that I use to help build characters and determine their outlooks on life. Anyone interested would probably find this game a cross between Cartesian dualism and Hegellian historicism...

Thanks, iamsephiroth, for your interest; thanks as well to the demo testers (you know who you are) and especially those still working diligently on the game. I look forward to hopefully having something to present you all with soon!

Well, I know this will seem like a huge necropost, but I have a tremendous amount of content to release-- particularly, a new demo!

I'd really appreciate any/all comments and feedback I can get. The front page of this topic has been updated with lots more content and updates. Please do me a favor and don't use/steal any of the resources contained without my permission; I have deals worked out with the artists and that would violate the terms, stopping me from getting any more.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions? What do you think? Are you interested in learning more about The Cerion Conception?

EDIT-- Also, added 3 new screenshots!

Sorry for the bump, but it's been well over 72 hours (assuming my math is correct). Does no one have an interest in trying out the demo? If not, can you advise me what I can do to make my game more marketable?

I played it. Ran into a big problem... I'll hide it in a spoiler tag, even though it isn't all that spoilerish.

When I try to leave the tent, I'm pretty much stuck. Jarron keeps saying, "Let's investigate at least a little bit further..." He and Basil already did all the investigating they needed to do. I chose to let Basil pick the lock and use his own judgement on which keyhole. It gained him a level and it got me a Stone of Remembrance. Thing is, after that, I can't leave. That investigation message keeps appearing.

I went to an old save after that, since I didn't get very far, thankfully. My second time going through that, I simply chose to "think it through again" (or something close to that). Got rid of the problem. :)

I'm kind of stuck on the marsh part. Your maps sometimes direct me back to a place where I wasn't. Like... I'd go up a bridge, realize there was a broken bridge in my way, go back and be stuck in a place that I didn't even start from. Here's a good example:

I went up in the starting + zone that has an orange flower in the upper left corner. I went north, only to discover I couldn't go forward anymore. So, I go back and I'm literally stuck there...the bridge is broken. I head up again and I'm in a + zone with a flower in the lower left corner. And, uh, yeah... I thought of following the orange mushrooms (or flower), thinking they were hints or something, but I'm just going in circles right now.

Any hints about the marsh and where I should go to move on? I like the game so far :thumb: and I hate not knowing where to go. Help, please. @_@

The World Artist, thanks so much for trying out my game!

As far as the Basil-pick-the-lock option, you're right-- it's a glitch. I have fixed it, and will include it in the next release.

With the marsh, it's clearly a maze. A few of my friends figured it out the first go around. All you have to do is remember which paths cause the path to reset and which ones don't; it's only about 4 screens, so shouldn't take you that long.

EDIT-- I have added version 1.8.1.0, which includes the patch fixing the tent error. Thanks again, TWA!

Hey guys, sorry for the double post, but this is somewhat important. Is there sound/music when you play the game? I just realized that there may have been something I did wrong that could prevent it from playing! Please let me know (along with, of course, any other comments/feedback/criticism); I would be extremely grateful.

EDIT-- I wanted to make you all aware that a new, patched version has been released. It's actually smaller than the previous ones due to deleting some unnecessary files but contains more playtime (a new map) as well as several bug fixes, one of which could otherwise break the game.

If you desire to keep your old saves, you ought to be able to copy-and-paste them directly over into this new file. Let me know if there's a problem. Thanks for the continued feedback!

That's an interesting idea. I've always wondered if anyone'll ever use that body-interior tileset, heheh. D: Good luck pulling it off.

Thanks, Reives. Have you had a chance to play it yet?

I'm a little bit worried that I have received virtually zero feedback about my game, good or bad. It'd be nice to at least get something. If there's a reason that you (whoever happens to be reading this right now) aren't really interested, I'd love to hear it! I won't get offended or anything; it would just be nice to know how I can improve things and/or make them more marketable.

Thanks, all!

An updated version has been posted; this is definitely a major update worth the double post.

Again, to quote from my previous post,I'm a little bit worried that I have received virtually zero feedback about my game, good or bad. It'd be nice to at least get something. If there's a reason that you (whoever happens to be reading this right now) aren't really interested, I'd love to hear it! Thanks so much, all!

Crap, crap, crap-- when I updated the demo to the latest version, I accidentally must have changed the hero's starting position!

Upon loading a corrected version (afraid I'm not at my dorm now), I'll let you guys know. I really apologize for that; it's unacceptable on my part.

EDIT-- Fixed and uploaded.
