Agreed.

Bosses bosses bosses...

There's so many!

1) Just about every Mid-Boss battle in Disgaea. He always providing a challenging, but beatable fight.

2) Ultimate Redips from Megaman Command Mission. I loved the design of the boss and the mood of the battle.

3) Dark Elf Elpizo Form 1 from Zero 2. This was my favorite fight from any megaman, just because of the design of the boss.

That's all for now.

Back to topic, Shadow of the Colossus has insanely amazing bosses.

It doesn't HAVE amazing boss battles, the entire game IS amazing boss battles.

I agree 100%

The thing is, there hardly is any gameplay. It's all turn-based battles. As for the story line which you mentioned; I honestly don't care about that, nor do I care if people like Final Fantasy. The topic is about boss fights, not whether the game is good or not.

What? Turn based games have hardly any gameplay? You mean all the puzzle solving in dungeons and all of the work making equipment and leveling up and exploring, those aren't gameplay?

Just because you don't like a game style, don't say it has no gameplay. But yeah, this is off topic, so just end the conversation.

What? Am I surrounded by idiots? I've mentioned it before, and I really don't plan to again. I'm saying the bosses have no gameplay, not the game and your little puzzles. Look up for a sec, you see where it says "The best boss fights ever!", well that generally means what the thread's about. And hey presto, that's what we're talking about here.

Now, you can defend your stupid little game all day long, but argue with yourself. I don't care what you think, and clearly you have no idea who I am, or my what I can make this forum do. Don't mess with oldbies.

Stay on topic.

Serenade, please cut down the rude dick waving, kthx.

On topic: this probably isn't the BEST boss fight, per say, but it certainly made me go wtf.  The Metal Gear RAY fight(s) in MGS2.  I've never actually PLAYED the game myself because I just can't get used to the controls, but just watching my boyfriend go up against three waves of three massive... THINGS that take up the entire screen... it was just insane.

Actually, Necro from FFIX was interesting.  This guy comes from nowhere and will kill your party in a few turns if you don't prepare ahead of time with some major level grinding.  I still haven't beat that game.

Another good one was Evrea from FFX

One of the most challenging fight I had in an rpg was against the last boss of "Legend of legaia"(cant remember his name) on the ps... but  only because I escaped almost all battles in the game...cuz it was so boring XD...but I had nothing else to play... so I ended fightning the last boss on level 27 XP

But my vote for the best boss fight is definitely against final Kefka (FFVI) he even had the music cordinated to his mega final attack XD

Jeez... pulling an argument like that almost proves you have no argument at all conserning the topic...
As i see it, in turned based games, the grinding previous to any boss fight... and what to do in those turns(like attacking, using magic or items, charge and so on) is the gameplay of the genre... its not like you set autobattle and go and make yourself a coffee

Awesome Bro

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ........ I'm a fan of Conan bosses because they require planning and quick thought. They're usually the ones that make my tongue lick my chin.

If this was going off of difficulty I would've also included Silver Sonic(Sonic and Tails)
He wouldn't have been hard, but they gave you no rings. NONE! NONE!
You had to beat him without getting hit once.  SO UNECESSARILY DIFFICULT!!!

We're talking about difficulty now? lol
Well the hardest boss for me was the Boost Ball Guardian from Metroid Prime 2, he was just a pain in the butt for me. And let's not forget Kurt Zisa and Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts.

agreed.

I've always loved a lot of the raid boss fights in World of Warcraft, despite getting old after the 5th-6th time.

Nefarian in Blackwing Lair was good, every so often calling out a random 'Class Call' which manipulated all the members in the raid of the certain class into performing a less that desirable action.. Like all the Hunters breaking their bows, all the Mages turning everyone into random animals, the warriors switching to their damage stance and not being able to tank.

The Opera event in Karazhan is a good one, as well. It randomly picks from one of three classic stories (Wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood, and Romeo and Juliet) and using those distinct stories to play off a boss fight. In the Oz fight, you need to fear the Cowardly Lion, use Frost/Water spells to rust the Tin Man, and use Fire spells on the Straw Man, and once all three of them are killed (and Dorothy/Toto), you have to fight the Wicked Witch who randomly spawns tornados that throw you into the air.
