TES V: Skyrim *'*'BEARDS CONFIRMED'*'*

Peri pretty much summed up my feelings on Oblivion exactly there, I'm cautiously optimistic about Skyrim though. I was highly disappointed by Oblivion especially after all the rants about how good it was I'd heard. That being said, a certain other RPG Franchise let me down TWICE in 2010 WAY worse. I've always had a bit of pessimism about WRPGs in general, that being said I do love a few like the original Fallout, Fallout 3 I've yet to play but I'm a bit put off by the 1st Person Perspective. By the looks of things though Skyrim looks quite good, like I said, cautiously optimistic.

Most of the media released is putting a big emphasis on third-person, so I'm thinking they're probably working on it quite a bit and reducing the floatiness and awkwardness of the animations like in Morrowind and Oblivion, which should be v. nice.

Overall this is probably one of my most anticipating games for the same reasons you guys touched on - the way they talk about learning from the mistakes of Oblivion and feel inspired by the uniqueness of Morrowind and Shivering Isles realy makes me hope they're headed in a neat direction here.

Did anyone actively play MW, Oblv, F3, or F:NV in 3rd person? I'd zoom out to look at my armor but it was wayyy too clunky to continue in that mode. It's a little hard for me to imagine playing in 3rd person on a PC. Seems like you're handicapping yourself!

I guess it's a more useful feature for console gamers ...

I played Fallout 3 and Fallout:NV in third person all the time (console) but I couldn't bear to play Morrowind and Oblivion that way, it handles really super awkwardly.

I always prefer playing games in first person, feels more immersive to me. As long as they keep the first person view I will be ok :D

Awesome Bro

I prefer third person over first person so I always spent my time in third, although it's hard to pick small items up in third person, that's when you need the precision of first, lol... even though the animations were terrible in third person, I still preferred it, not really sure why, I just don't really like first person games unless I really have to

My favorite out of the entire series was Bloodmoon. That was the small island of Solstheim that was supposed to be east of Skyrim on the map and an Expansion on Morrowind. I completely loved the story and the nords. So an entire game based around them? Well... Lets just say the only thing I'll miss is:

STOLEN GOODS!

Since long flowing hair is hard to render, I doubt they'll have it much longer, but at least there's so much more we get to customize!!

no lie my first character is probably going to be a short, skinny dunmer guy decked out in nordic barbarian gear with the biggest, flowinest, majesticest beard around

Dual wielding sounds like an awesome feature to have (staves + axe = boner). I'm also digging the execution moves I've seen too.

I don't know how many of you have seen this yet, but this gives some good info.

I love how "dragons" is its own category right up there with "better AI" in terms of importance.

Game still looks absolutely beautiful - khajiit and orcs were the ugliest goddamn things in Oblivion, and it's nice to see them looking less like stretched cats or silly putty men. I'd never been able to play a khajiit because they were just the silliest-looking things. Now that they have that cool kind of tiger thing going on, I could probably give it a go if I wanna make a really sneaky dude.

Nice to hear that they've improved the crime system, too - guards and crime were terrible and broken in Oblivion, and I never once sat down to play without stealing something accidentally and having the entire goddamn city on my tail. Guards also sort of teleported around and homed in on you, so sneaky dudes were never a whole lot of fun to start out with.

.

agreed, dude. dragons are a staple of almost every fantasy game around these days. while i think they're cool and all, i believe the improvements on npcs will be a much better addition.

While we're talking about improvements to Oblivion, any idea how lockpicking will work? That minigame was the most ridiculous thing and I could never solve anything about Very Easy without auto-attempts.

I never really had an issue with lockpicking in Oblivion; always thought it was simple enough to grasp. Still, I hope Bethesda goes for something closer to FO3's lockpicking. Also they should let you attempt any level lock at any time.

Well, oblivion let you try any lock at any time, but even at high security skill the minigame can be really frustrating. Fallout 3, I assume in response to complaints about oblivion, made an easier minigame but you can't attempt unless you have a high enough skill level to do it.
