You're definitely not, because the last game had absolutely hideous hair. :/

I know long hair is hard to model well, so if we don't get that (and how do you not have long flowing hair in the land of the Nords, by golly?) I'm hoping for some cute updos instead of the lame pseudo-pompadours and stuff.

off topic: i sent you a PM! :(

update: arty stuff!

@UWE
yeah, I've never played it but I've heard stories about Daggerfall being literally unplayable at release :/

I've been pretty lucky, and haven't really encountered any buggs with Morrowind or Oblivion.

I like bugs and reading about them, so if I hear of one, I seek it out/try to do myself. >.>

The only bugs that annoy me in any game is something game-breaking. Graphical ones are, "cool" to me. XD

in addition to those screenies here's a few more nifty things~

* There is a perk that will lower the sound of your footsteps.
* Perk for Axe that enables deeper cuts, which means prolonged bleeding. You can hit someone once and they will eventually bleed out.
* In the northern parts of Solitude is the Bard's College. The city is a busy port and there's event similar to bonfire night that has the burning of an effigy of King Olaf.
* Windhelm is the largest city. It has a palace that should look spectacular. This is also apparently the hangout for the Imperial Guards who monitor the path to Morrowind.
* The Shivering isles expansion inspired the team that unique, hand-crafted cities, where no two buildings look the same, was the way to go.
* The Snow. Has been a lot of confusion about this. OXM UK says that snowfall is dynamic. Instead of a texture with a bit of white added, landscapes realistically get dusted with snow landing in appropiate nooks and crannies.
* There are one-off puzzles in certain dungeons.
* Example of new AI: 'Wolves have a den. Few times a day they go out and do a patrol and hunt in a pack. If they kill something then they'll hang out there. If you go outside and they're on patrol they will come after you. If they've killed something they will guard that and not chase you down as they want to look after it.

Awesome Bro

I hope the combat is more like Fallout than Oblivion to be honest with you, I mean, they're going for a realistic approach ofcourse, and deeper cuts with an axe sounds great, y'know, the prolonged bleeding and all, but will we be able to dispatch of an enemy limb for limb? And it'd be cool if, when you cut an arm off, the enemy doesn't just fall to the floor and die (Like on Fallout), but will carry on attacking while bleeding out, and would obviously be weaker, this wouldn't apply to people as they'd just sit there and scream in pain, but for bigger enemies it could be cool... if only that were true though...

i saw a video for the actual gameplay like a month ago and in that it looked like Oblivion 2: Now the Elfs And Shit are a Bit Shinier I Guess.

i played the HOLY LIVING BAJEEZUS out of MW & Obl but ... Man, I have a hard time getting a boner over Bethesda products anymore. Outside of the Shivering Isles expansion, their writing is just so god damned bland!!

Hey y'all try to chill it on the rec room whitenoise, this thread is for Skyrim and not any combination of chix w/ or w/o dix. (that comes later thanks to TES' wacky modding community~)

I agree, even 90% of Morrowind was bland as fuck and that's considered one of their best. A huge problem is that literally every npc is 85% copypasted dialogue - Fallout: NV especially and even Fallout 3 proved that it's easy enough to give basic npcs some character so here's hoping they learned from that.

I haven't played Shivering Isles yet but I've heard lots of good things, and the Skyrim team keeps mentioning mentioning being inspired to make everything more unique like it, so it sounds like they're going in the right direction.

shivering isles was that really amazingly super clever expansion that no one ever played.

you were running about on the Mad God's island. you got to craft a monster tyrant out of body parts, and choose the deaths of hapless adventurers that wandered into a maze, and explore hives of strange glow-farting ant/bugs, and settle a war between ghosts, and assassinate officials by exploiting their weaknesses for drugs/etc ... it was really pretty brilliant, and the level design was super gorgeous. it wasn't without its flaws, but if they add THAT kind of flavor to TES: V, then i will retract every negative thing i've said about Bethesda and also not pirate it.

(actually the Knights of the Brotherhood or w/e expansion was also really fun. the quests you had to do for them were rather interesting and at the end you fight a guy up in the clouds )

I loved playing the Shivering Isles - especially I could get female smexy armor for all my characters! YAY!

The screenshot with the chick with blond hair, makes me feel a bit better about the character creation system. Her hair actually looks good. XD

i always modded mine out so much it wouldn't even look like the same game :x

and yeah it looks like ~hopefully~, the TES crewe is finally learning some basics about aesthetics and vanity :x

(yeah, we get it, sword-times people weren't pretty. but it's a game featuring elfs farting magic so i should really have the option to look atleast somewhat less like a masculine hobo)

The hair in the Elder Scrolls series is some of the worst I've ever seen. If you've never played it/played it unmodded look up some character creation vids for Morrowind and grhahshjhjh

some of it's pretty cool but it would be nice to have a balance between what the hell is that and oh hey that's crazy but it looks nice

I really appreciate that they're going for a unique look and they don't want to populate the world with generic supermodels with minor skin pigment variations wearing skimpy 80's style chainmail bikinis but... it's possible to have appealing characters and still be unique. :x

Shivering Isles sounds great though, I'll have to try it.

I would mod my Oblivion game, but I only play on the console. I'm on a netbook, so playing a big game like that is not good (it even looked awkward on Star's awesome PC).

Morrowind was really really hard for me. I died like 50 times before I could kill a single rat. Seriously.

Skyrim better still have a difficulty meter.

I hope the heavy armor looks good on the females too. I like my chick being feminine - what can I say? XD

I somehow totally missed this thread before making my own, but anyway, despite not liking Oblivion that much, I'm really pumped for this game because everything I've heard and read suggests that they're really making a bunch of improvements. The genericness was what killed Oblivion for me, but according to a podcast, they're going to a lot of effort to develop the setting and culture. No mention was made of NPCs, but I really hope after Fallout they've come to appreciate that their old dialogue system was retarded.

I really hope they bring flying back. I'm playing Morrowind for the first time now, and the levitation is sweet, except for the stupid animation and the occasional awkward getting stuck on the floor. The crazy jumping is awesome too. Man, I'd love to fly around some of those mountains they have in Skyrim.

But yeah, it seems like Skyrim has much more presence than the previous TES games, between increased focus on the setting and things like making magic more organic and flexible (now you can do lots of different things with, say, fire instead of just chucking a fireball).

I really hope this game is good. I am probably more excited than I should be considering the previous games, but everything I've heard sounds really promising.
