Terraria

Mr_Smith & everyone else:

I don't want things made of dirt and stuff that's been very quickly slapped together.

We should be working on COOL things that are AWESOME and look SUPER GREAT. We have the resources; we are gods of the world; why settle for crumminess?

Consider the hellevator.
Before, it was just a quickly-done shaft with a lot of holes in the sides that'd spawn monsters in the hole and they'd fall with you and it'd be excruciatingly annoying.

Now it's a nice, trim tunnel with walls, where mobs can't spawn, and there aren't random hunks of things that slow your descent.

I'm looking for Atlantis to be a "masterpiece" and part of the fun was to be in amassing things for it and getting people to find it/swim for it, then eventually make a nice/easy-to-use tunnel to it.

I haven't seen what you did yet or anything, I'm just saying that I don't want this done in a hurry, I want it done WELL :)

I haven't done anything apart from creating some air pockets on the way to the cave, and a STRAIGHT tunnel with stone walls down. Inside it I haven't made anything.
I know I'm not good at designing, so I leave that for the others, but I do believe my shaft is very usefull for getting there.

Edit, I've just read a sentence I missed before, that you wanted people to find it, but really it was very easy to find. A very big tunnel without any sideways, everyone should be able to find
it if they want.

Edit², I'm sorry, pressed quote instead of modify.

oh ok cool, that's fine, i was just concerned with the speed at which you did it that it would just have been something that was done without enough care :P

Was there a map reversion? Some of my chests and Smith's house have vanished, and all there is is a glass arrow on the far right. Not one shaft in either direction.

ahahahah i did a world image.

the tunnel mr_smith made is, indeed, still there.

funny thing: he didn't find the giant underground lake. he found a mere POCKET.

the REAL underground lake is approx. SEVEN TIMES bigger than the pocket he found :3

keep searchin, honeys.

i started throwing down a decent-looking landbridge going off to the east. When I was on last night and tried to make a mad dash for the ocean, I was stunned by how freaking annoying it is to scramble through all of those deserts D:

man i hate cacti

What's the priority resources right now? I was thinking of farming sharks for a while for diving helmets but I can do anything that's needed.

You'll want to bring potions, too. It's a looong swim, even from Mr_Smith's tunnel. Even with a breathing reed, diving helmet, AND flippers, you're still probably apt to lose some life on the way :x

(yes after your air has run out and you start losing health, drinking potions underwater still somehow keeps you alive).

you'll know you're in the right lake when you get there. trust me.
it's fucking huge.

Just got back from a run on one of my worlds; three reeds and a pair of flippers for any takers.

There wasn't a specific chest we put things for Atlantis was there?

when i was jumpin around yesterday i happened to notice some building remnants in a desert ...

careful building in deserts guys, the sand shifts when anyone does stuff under it/around it/etc. and may ruin your building(s).

i didnt think the blocks would be affected if they were sitting ATOP the sand but those building remnants really looked like they'd been a part of something that got fk'd up by sand shifting.

Ven, you can also make air pockets when your time is running out.
yeah i know but the water tunnels are pretty massive so it doesnt hurt to be prepared ~
