It will probably work similarly to the Pokemon Battle Revolution. You have friends who you can organize games with and they can see your taunts and messages and shit, but you can also just seek any random opponent to play with but since they're not on your friends list they can't see anything you customize.

Yeah, if you can battle random non-friends in plenty of DS and even GBA games (Pokemon, Mario Kart, Puzzle League, etc.), I don't see why you couldn't in Smash Brothers.

Y'know I was readin' up on one of the updates last week with the Friend Brawls or whatever, and it showed a character selection screen which was the same one from the demo at that expo a few months back. What got to me, however, is that I'm curious to know if the characters that weren't shown on the roster such as Snake and Zelda would be unlockables? If so, I'm a bit bummed. I REALLY hope that all the characters they've already announced thus far are playable from the get go and that they have a good handful of unlockables aside from them. In my personal opinion, unlocking Snake and all these other characters would be a bit dissapointing since I already know they're in. I wanna' be honestly surprised when a challenger appears in the game. (Bomberman anyone?) Welp, it's getting closer day by day atleast....

Well, in that same update, Sakurai said that he wasn't gonna be so hung up on hidden characters. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but this probably means that he won't be attempting to keep secret characters very secret.

I would find it odd, if Zelda weren't on the starter roster, though. I mean, she was up there from the start, in Melee. Hmm.

On the subject of Zelda, I wonder whether she'll retain the ability to transform into Shiek. I actually kind of hope not. Shiek could get very cheap at times. Plus, I'd like to see what Down special Zelda would get.
