Super Mario Galaxy

Super Mario Galaxy

One word:

AWESOME.

I haven't played a game this perfect in a while. It's incredibly fun, looks amazing, never experiences a hitch in action or framerate, and is definitely one of my favorites. I love the Wii but no game has completely maximized the Wii experience yet like this game.

Remember the airships in Super Mario Bros. on the NES? On world 8? They're back. The gravity is superbly handled, and every galaxy (level) is amazingly different--all of them consisted of sometimes dozens of different mini-planets with their own quirks.

The only flaw I can find is in the difficulty: it's really easy in the beginning 4 levels or so. It ramps up, though, in later levels.

Haven't beaten it yet but my verdict thus far is that you need to buy this game if you haven't yet!

Wow! What a coincidence. I actually just purchased this game last night. I've only been able to play around 30 minutes, but I agree. It definitely does leave an impression.

The graphics are wonderful! I love the beautifully composed soundtrack...and I appreciate Nintendo going back to it's "Super Mario 64" roots.

I never want it to end!

One question, though. Why was it much cheaper than normal Wii games (49.99 CAN was the price)?

simple... ive notice since canadian money is worth more then american money that our games are starting to be the same price as they are in america

edit: ive tried the game at a friends... its really good but i hate the wii mote >.<

It uses both, much like Twilight Princess.

I don't see the problem with the controls...they are the most innovative/comfortable ones I've experienced.

Of course it uses the Nunchuk; How else is Mario supposed to move? :p

Also I plan to buy the game pretty soon. I've loved the previous 2, and I'm expecting big things from this one. I have a Wii, but I'm just missing the money...and a store where they sell it at.

I did the co-op mode at my friends house. (I was the guy collecting star bits -_-) And I have to say, the game is just incredible! I love the music as well, which was my favorite part of the game.

Why? It'd be stupid to play it with anything else. The controls blow a regular controller out of the water.

A peripheral that costs like 20 USD isn't a big deal if you want a great gameplaying experience. I sorta wish they came with the thing, but I'm a corporate schill. I have the recharging station, 4 wiimotes, 4 nunchuks, and that Classic NES controller they made for the Virtual Console. I also have all the Wii Services and many of the VC games (not to mention a crapload of regular Wii games and a subscription to Nintendo Power Magazine).

I bleed money for Nintendo and they repay me with fun. It's win-win (except for my hemorrhaging wallet).

I just beat Galaxy today. (Just the main game, I didn't get all the stars yet). I must say I'm very impressed. Everything seemed very well done. The main problem I had was the Observatory Comet hub. In Mario 64 and even in Sunshine the hub area where you accessed the levels were fun to explore and had secrets to find. Notso with Galaxy. The hub has one diversion that isn't a level access point: the library. And it's inane. I really wished the hub area was bigger, or more complex. I also got sort of tired of spherical worlds, but they did put enough variety in the worlds that it didn't become a Sunshine repeat (i.e. all levels were very similar in theme)

The thing that stood out to me the most was the music. The battle music for your fights with Bowser (oh come on, that doesn't deserve a spoiler!) was awesome. I still have the mini-game music stuck in my head!

Overall, a really, really great game.
