Shifter Title Screen FINAL Come take a look! MAJOR EDITING!

THIS IS THE FINAL OF THE TITLE!!!

EDIT: There ya go! This is the final, and no questions about it! I am done with the title >.>

Also, let me describe the picture to you...and the things you may not see.
1. Clock - symbolizes the time changing.
2. Puzzle piece missing - Partial foreshadowing, and showing this as a puzzle game.
3.  Cat eyes - Symbolizes the pets that help the character shift.
4. The Human shifting out of the nether dimension.

That looks really bad! I can barely read the text! Looks like you've just stuffed a whole lot of random stuff in there! Is the game Modern or Medieval?

Both, there is some "Shifting" involved...why? Lol, It is only two pictures, I can change the text to blend better if that is what will make it look better.

EDIT: Check out the picture again, I modified it a little.

006 is right, this looks pretty bad. This appears to be an apartment building meshed in with a forest and a waterway/sewer. I think you should give it another go, and this time go for a simpler look.

By the way, what's shifting?

You do NOT, I repeat, do NOT edit out a moderator's comment regarding your conduct. I was being lenient, not warning you for your VERY premature bump, but your disregard for my comment shows that you do not deserve such generosity. Enjoy your warn. >:|

Sorry Luminier...i didn't know I wasn't allowed too, sorry about that.

And, uh, it is two pictures put together...one is a tunnel that is under construction that is made of bricks, and the other is a snow forest...

...umm, yeah...so it isn't sewers...

And shifting is in my game...if you end up playing it, you will know, or if you read my topics around CA, then you would know...but yeah, it is like teleporting, but there is a variety of it, and the player can only shift to the places they have been too.

Looks like you took an irl pic and slapped text on it. Try taking longer than 10 minutes to make it and I assure you it will look better. I dont like it at the moment.

I have been doing some thinking and such, and I decided the red text sucked badly! So, I changed it to blend a little, and I decided to use the forest picture...I updated the main post, please tell me what you think.

OK, look.
A title screen should be representative of what your game is about.
Essentially, it should:
a) give the player an idea of what the game is about
b) give the player an idea of the context of the game (when it's set, etc...)

your current title screen does none of these things, unless the game is about unicorns in a forest. I'd suggest you brainstorm ideas about what you want it to look like first, and then go and find all the resources you need to make the screen, instead of going 'hey, this looks cool' and using something that doesn't really fit with your screen.

Hope this helps,
gratheo

Heh, thanks, that was what I was looking for, I am working on it right now...I was just seeing if someone would come up with something like that...everyone else just kept saying it sucks...thanks.

EDIT: I edited the main post, here is the image now.

Interesting. I don't get it, though. It just looks like a really blurry photograph of someone leaping from one platform to another. Unless that's what you intend. I have no idea what the content is, so I can't tell you how appropriate it is.

The main title text could use a little work. Since it takes up most of the screen I would just center it, and I find the density-based black shadow distracting, I think it would look better without the shadows but keeping the text 'warpy' as they are right now. 'Shifter' should also be treated differently from the rest of the text too, or that's what I would do.
instead of: World of Thaino: Shifter
something like:
World of Thaino: Shifter (bold)
World of Thaino: S H I F T E R (small caps; spacing)
World of Thaino: SHIFTER (century gothic; grey)
etc.etc.

Because I can tell there's definitely something about this 'Shifting' and that it's a main concept of the game, especially because it stands on a line of its own.
--if I'm wrong about that, then I think you have to rethink the title.

Alright, well it is a good thing you can tell what it is about.

I will change that. Also, the person "leaping" is blurred because he is "shifting"...yeah, it is intended...

EDIT: Here it is...also in the main post.

The distinguishment of SHIFTER makes it a lot more attractive to me, i really like the spacing between the letters (in SHIFTER)
--but the choice of Comic Sans MS detracts just as much. Maybe with different sizing, saturation, or weight (i.e. bold/narrow) you can use the same font and still have the nice effect.

By centering I meant to center the whole block of text instead of each line independently, erm, like this:

|--world of thaino:--|
|-----------shifter--|

Though as it looks very good as it is placed currently, so I guess that decision is up to you.

I think you should keep a copy of the previous versions, I think other people will have better ideas with the shadows compared with my "delete pls".

Thanks! Heh, I will change the font of that other a little, make it less distracting. Also, I was going to make shifter over a bit, but I wasn't sure. Let me try that and re-upload it.

EDIT: Here is the new title, tell me what you think now.
