Finished my prologue and uploaded it to play ^^
My mapping can use some work, and most audio/graphics are going to be replaced, and a cms will be added.

History

Almost a thousand years ago the world was ruled by a lot of different creatures, including Humans. They all lived in a massive wasteland, and most of the animals snacked on humans, who were the underdogs. They were so pathetic, so weak, until they discovered something the others didn't have: Magic. A special energy force ran through the planet, and certain humans possessed the ability to tap into it and use it for various purposes. The humans attacked many other inhabitants of their world, to teach them they were a force to be reckoned with. Not the smartest decision, because the other creatures realized that what a threat we were, and decided to wage war against them. They didn't have magic, but there were a lot more of them, so it wasn't long before the humans realized that they would lose. They tried to plead with the others, but they couldn't understand. Eventually the humans were almost gone, barely hundreds of them left, while the other creatures losses went unnoticed.
Somehow, the humans managed to save themselves. How it was done is unknown to even the other creatures, who do not forget those who they hate. They sealed themselves within a great shining wall, creating fertile land, food and water.

Story

Now, in the present day, the only memory of this is humans in their great land, and a great wall of red energy that surrounds them. No scripts have survived so long, so the humans have no idea of the origin of the wall or what lies beyond it. But soon they will. For somehow, the fearsome creatures of the land beyond have infiltrated their small bit of paradise. And soon, they will attack.

Some cool stuff in the game

-A kickass side view cbs, by Rye. Includes Clive's slant bars, Cogwheels damage display and Raziel's enemy hp bars (compiled by mistTribe). It's so awesome because you don't need any custom graphics for it, but it still looks great as the characters/enemies move around and you can see the characters weapon (which is the icon of the weapon they have equipped) move down to hit the enemy.
-Slipknots message system.
-A custom menu i have not obtained as of now.
-Pretty original (super-groovy) magic. Hoping to do a level-up system, may be added later.
-The magic plays a huge part in the game, in the storyline, in cutscenes and in puzzles. Not just lameass super-moves that can be done in battle ^^
-LOADS of puzzles (I love making puzzles ^^).
-Hopefully a lot of fun!
-I'm almost definitely going to custom sprite the entire game with half-kaiser style graphics. If you've seen my crap dead people, don't be afraid, I just threw some red on them in like a minute. If I try, then they come out alright. Especially with bigger graphics, like half-kaisers.
-A journal and bestiary. Got the bestiary, (It's cool) I have a journal but I'm on the lookout for a better one. Know an easy to use one, send me a pm

Screenshots

Don't pay any attention to these crap screens. The graphics will all be replaced (hopefully by chapter one) and I'll remap as much as I can as well.

Demo

The Completed Prologue is now released. It has a little bit of work left (I'm doing a custom menu, I will update the music and redo the crap mapping eventually, but I don't think it matters enough to bother doing it now. Chapter one will have a cms)
Here's the link: Clicky![/b]
I playtested and what with mashing through cutscenes and avoiding all non-compulsory battles my time was about 20mins. So playtime is estimated to be about 30mins+ There is a small optional puzzle dungeon with good rewards, a (badly) hidden chest and a secret item that is almost impossible to find. (But isn't that useful anyway. Mp boost.)

Give me some C&C, if you play think what could be improved, what could be added, what you liked or didn't like. Thanks guys ^^

Is the demo supposed to just fade to a black screen that sits there?

Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny. I give it a thumbs up and will play more when it comes.

Yes, it's supposed to fade. It will fade back in for the second scene, when i make it ^^. Thanks for comments. Anything you think could be improved, added?

You could always improve the graphics but IMO it's not really worth the effort yet, and you can worry about that after finishing more of the game.

I am currently sprucing up my maps a little... I see what you mean noobo ^^. Right now i'm keeping those graphics but i plan to change them some time in the future.

Well I don't think anyone cares, but i'll update anyway...

I've decided to put a little gameplay into the Prolouge, just a few short maps and a mini-dungeon that gives some super-useful rewards. Game time just before the dungeon is 12mins (For me hehe), and then there's the dungeon and a reasonably long cutscene, so the Prolouges total time should be about half an hour (?).

When it's finished (A week, maybe a bit more) I'll get it moved to the completed Demo thread. I'll upload each time i finish a chapter (Chapters will be reasonably short, probably close to an hour each) So there won't be that much time between chapters ^^.

EDIT: My mate playtested for me and his time was 28:12 just before the final cutscene started, so it looks like it'll be half an hour after all. But probably less, he's un-co and took ages on the puzzles ^^

That's alright. PEOPLE BE INTERESTED IN MY GAME IT'S COOL DOWNLOAD IT AND STUFF. I TYPED THIS HOLDING SHIFT INSTEAD OF HITTING CAPS LOCK.

Thanks for comment, I have fixed those glitches and more like them ^^. When you put a passable tile on top of an unpassable tile, then you can go on it. Say for example a small flower on the edge of a cliff ^^. Annoying, but easily remedied (once spotted)

Not bad so far. Although I felt that the dialogue seemed forced, which also made the game move by too fast. It didn't feel like the characters really meant what they were saying. While I'm not implying that you should add a bunch of meaningless conversations and whatnot, try to make it feel more natural.
Secondly, what happened to the graphic for the tea leaves? If it weren't for the screenshot, I would've just run around that area pressing Enter like a madman.
Finally, that top line of the water at the top of the cliff is passable, enabling you to walk across to the area with the tree on it (the area in your first screenshot).

It's a good start though. ^_^

Thanks for the passability issue. I will also fix the missing tea graphic, dunno what's with that.
I plan to replace all the graphics, and when i do i'll probably mod the dialog too.
Thanks for comments ^^

Okay, I finally played the prologue, because you think that your game deserves attention. Rightfully so. ^_^

I'm not sure why, but I like it.

Firstly, your mapping sucks balls. Of course, you already knew that. ^_^ The town looks like crap. Misused some tiles, and I saw a missing wall, that I forgot to take a screenshot of.

http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m17/ ... rors-1.jpg[/IMG]

What's up with this? The red is a strange, miscolored tile, and the green is a priority error. You're gonna have to tweak the priority of that tileset.

I don't particularly like the circumstances for the opening scenario. "Hey, I don't have tea leaves! Now, go up into the monster infested mountains, and fight your way to the one cliff that has the leaves!", "Okay!". That's a pretty flimsy premise for a mountain dungeon, don't you think?

The 'dungeon'(for lack of a better word.), was enjoyable. I found the enemies easy to dodge, so battles weren't a problem. The lava cave made no sense. If there was such a large amount of lava, so close to the outer crust(?) of the mountain, would it look, I dunno, less grassy? I don't know, I'm no expert.

The puzzle with the switches, and the rocks was pretty cool. It could've been a bit more complicated, though. I believe I got all of the treasures, except for the "almost impossible to find" one.
Did you forget to disable the save command? There are save points, but they don't serve a purpose besides restoring HP.

The dialogue was well written, if not a little boring. Of course, it would have been a bit hypocritical if your English sucked.
XD

It was short, but bitter-sweet. I'll definitely play the upcoming chapters.

P.S. The next dungeon will be a sewer, right? Boo. :p

Nah. Next dungeon is a
Deserted Army barracks! Wooo!

Yep, my mapping sure sucks. I can't be arsed fixing it, 'cause when I replace the tileset I'll have to redo it anyway. And it'll be better, because I'll bother doing the priorities correctly (there's a whole bunch of errors on that count). The red tile is where the shadow has a higher priority (I got groups of trees of the DLM, but messed up the priorities) than the next bit of tree.

Pffft. More like 'Go to the cliff where my special tea leaves grow (because it's the highest cliff or something). Unfortunately there are a lot of overlarge insects about, so watch out for them'. Or something ^^

The 'dungeon'(for lack of a better word.)
Mini-dungeon ^^. I just wanted to throw a little bit of extra gameplay in, but nothing major, so I made it short. The buttons is quite simple, hopefully it'll do what it did to my playtesters (friends) and make you run back and forth several times. The darkening room was cool, the bats were 'cause I'm lazy. The lava platform is awesome, and btw it's 'special' lava that isn't hot. (You questioned grass growing nearby, but not the Hero standing virtually on top of it?)

The non-difficult to find treasures are all easy to get, just the puzzle-dungeon and the chest (v.obvious). I'll make the secret easier to get. (Hint: Look in a river. There is a gold glint. Which will become larger).

You aren't meant to be able to save. It's because I was messing around with LegACy's menu, which got taken out. I forgot to re-add-in the disable save.

Thanks about the dialog, I will try to make it more interesting (Maybe shorten it down a bit? Dunno). I would be pretty funny if I wrote 'u' and had masses of grammatical errors ^^

^^ Thank you v. much for checking it out. Wanna gimme a rating?
Dialog:
Cutscenes(choreography or whatnot):
Puzzle Skill (Don't incorporate difficulty):
Enjoyableness:
^^ Shot Lummy, I'll see you 'round.

A rating? Alrighty, then.

Dialog: 3/5: Stiff, but easy to read, and it doesn't devolve into incoherent rambling.
Cutscenes: 4/5: Well choreographed. It would've been higher if there were more. :( It would have been lower if the scene where the wyvern grabs the guard weren't more funny, than stupid(Sound effects could have helped.)! I laughed. XD
Puzzle Skill: 4/5: They were well designed. That's pretty much it. I'm hoping for more in chapter one.
Enjoyableness: 4/5: Regular battles were short, which is good for a short prologue. Uh, it was fun. I'm too lazy to type up the rest. :p

Edit:
I almost forgot to say this, again!

I was kind of befuddled as to where the tea leaves were. I'm guessing the passability of the cliff overrode that of whatever tile/sprite you were using. Anyway, I had to hit the space bar on a few different spots, before I found it.

Shite, that's what someone else said but I dismissed it because it was there for me. I reckon I'll reupload it with some minor fixes.

EDIT: Ah, I figured out the problem. I had a bunch of flowers added into the mountain tileset, but it thought it was rtp because it had the same name. So you guys just had the regular mountain tileset without the flowers. I think.
I uploaded the new one. Differences aren't noticable =p

Why can't I see myself in battle? o.o I'm an invisible guy with a sword that appears in thin air. ...oO;

Next, what do I do? I see some rocks in a lake but how do I get across them? I've looked around for a path elsewhere and I can't find one.

Also about that gold hint *cough*
... the item gain message is different to the item you get.
Message says you get candy, but you get meat instead.
... I think. I didn't get candy at least so I assumed the meat was given in it's place. (Or was that in the chest in the cave.)

I thought this was good, not great, but most definitely better than most beginner RPGs.
