Hm, that's really strange... The one you downloaded was the Chapter 1-5 v. 1.1 package from the download section on the website, right? It's running fine for me, and no one else seems to have had the problem. ._o The grassland tileset should be included in there. Try re-extracting it; if that doesn't work, it's only about 2 weeks before I release the new Chapter 1-6 package anyway.

I have just finished up all my exams, so I'm fweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Chapter 6 should be release before or around the 25th. I am working on the end of it now, with a few scenes left and a couple of mini-game/battle configuration to do. In my opinion, Chapter 6 > Chapter 5.
 
Hey Reives, I have something to say.
About people disliking your battle system.
I personally love it, think it's great.
anyways, there was a quote by Miyamoto(guy who made mario, possibly spelled wrong), it was something along the lines of "I make my great games by using the ideas I want."
And, a freeware game designer, known as nifflas has said many times, don't try and please the crowd, or it will change into something its not, in fact, he has abandoned a few games because he was listening to his fans, and the games evolved into something that wasn't what he wanted.
So he is currently keeping his current project secret, except for a few random screenshots with no information with them, so that way he can make it the way he wants, without having to please everyone.

tl;dr
My point is, don't change it because they don't like it, keep your original ideas in the game as they should be.

Yes, I am sticking with the current battle system. Despite the existing criticisms on it (which have been helpful in its improvements), there have been a lot of positive feedback as well. Over all, I believe the general consensus is that the system is viable in its core; but it takes some time to get used to, as it's different.

There are different audience groups who prefer different things, and sometimes instead of switching target group to target group, it is wiser to just focus on the group that share your point of view.

However, I think while I will stick with my own plans on a general basis, I will still definitely absorb others opinions and ideas regarding it from another's point of view to improve it. :) So again, I highly welcome anyone's opinions regarding the CBS and any other things that come to mind, positive or helpful criticism - Everyone has been very helpful so far, and helped me see things that I wouldn't have other wise. So, thanks again for all your time! :>

Yes, it probably is what you think it is.
[ 1. This is a development screen, hence the char-sprite is Reivier's normal sprite.
2. The reason why the scenario makes sense instead of the "usual way" around things will be understood from the events in Chapter 6. ]

This is one out of 2 "and a half" mini-games present in Chapter 6, plus some battles.
I'm still aiming for the Christmas-ish release date.
 
Not sure which transform you are talking about but, the only scripts used in game are Dubealex's advanced message system, Raziel's chrono trigger menu system, and fukuyama's caterpillar script. The rest are evented.
 
I replayed this game the other day. The first time I played this, I wasn't a big fan of the battle system, but when I replayed this, I kind of got the hang of it, and now I really like the battle system :] I found myself wanting more battles to gain more levels hehe.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter :] Can't wait. I must know what happens! I must know!  ;D
But anyway. I was showing this game to one of my friends today and he said
"Whoa where'd you buy this?! I want it!"
Hehe. I probably would of said the same thing if I saw it somewhere. This game is very professional looking. I love it. But you already knew that  :P
Just thought I'd say good luck with this, and that I really can't wait!
 
Heheh, thanks. :) Yeah, I do believe that the biggest problem with the battle system is the learning curve. (And also, the trap helps out a lot. . . I should probably put it at level 1 instead of 3, to be honest.)

I am almost done Chapter VI, so it should be released on schedule. I've just finished what is probably one of my most memorable scenes in my opinion. There are a lot of screenshots I want to post, but I am restraining myself due to spoilers.

For now, I'd just like to say that in my personal opinion, Chapter VI is the best chapter yet by far. The only drawback is that I haven't had the time to make anything too flashy for Vikon. :<
 
i've just tried out the game tonight and i got to chapter 3.  I must say that the story for this game is simply amazing.  I'm hooked already so keep up the good work. 
i just think the night time is a bit too dark as i've squinted at times just looking for that arrow.  but aside from that superbly done.

lol, i haven't gotten to the battle system yet though but i wanna find out more about Naria already.  she's seems so much more different then when she was little... all jumpy and happy... so she's very interesting and mysterious to me right now.

btw nice original music too!  you very talented!
 
Glad you're enjoying the story. :) It starts to take off from chapter 3. Chapter 4 has some good coverage on 'Naira.

And that reminds me, I need to brighten up the nights in the first couple of chapters - thanks for the heads up! I think I started setting the night colors brighter later on though, so that shouldn't be much of a bother from then on.

And kudos to James for a lot of the quality music. I'm just a secondary supporting composer. :>

Chapter 6 is just a few steps away from finished - should be released in the next few days. The first half is heavy on story, and the second half has a fair share of game-play; including 2 mini-games and some battles.

And I have to say, besides the part that Vikon doesn't perform as well as he did in Chapter 5, I personally feel that this is simply the best chapter so far, bar none - especially the latter part. :)

You've managed to tweak my daily boredom into interest, yet again.  Congrats on that, and keep up the good work.

And, while it's sad to hear that Vikon isn't shining brightly this chapter around, I still look forward to it.

Oh.  And that youtube, is the screen that dark, or has the transfer darkened it a bit?
It was a bit hard to tell what was going on, on this monitor at least.

One unanswered question that I really wanna know: what happened to Huey?

Gonna answer than anytime soon?  Or is it completely irrelevant to everything and your just gonna let it go?  Or did you already answer that, but I missed it?

Remember? He turned up in the duke's HQ at the end of that flashback sequence, saying that the job wasn't worth paying. Reives is suggesting that he was perhaps an adult using quintessense. Either that, or he's just a super-evil little kid

Yeah, but that still doesn't explain who he is.  I doubt a little kid would be smart enough let alone that evil enough to play a plan like that, which means he's obviously an adult with the Quintessence, but who?

So far, to our knowledge, the only people with the Quintessence are Reivier, Lunair, and that thief (who disappeared, what happened to him?)  Did I miss anyone?  Anyway, so the present-day Huey either died, is that thief, or is an un-introduced character...or Reives is just forgetting him.  :-/
 
Huey did not come up with the plan himself, he merely acted out his part as instructed by the Duke. Chapter 6 has some more spoilers on him - For now, I'll just assure you that he is not forgotten.

Either way, it's still going to be a while before he comes into play again, if he is literally going to.
