post your desktop

I don't really understand modern "desktop" managers :/ It confuses me. Mouse driven input is inefficient when compared to that of keystrokes, and should really only be used when accuracy is required.
Here's an updated screeny.

hah girlie desktop
mouse input is simple and non technical. admit it, GUI is much more appealing than a keyboard use interface- moving the mouse, having a sense of where you are on the screen, what it happening. having pretty graphics also really help.
and for many apps a keyboard would be considerably limited, like for gaming (i'm thinking of fps like call of duty)

Yes, it's simple. But it's also inefficient. To the average end user, it's the easier option.

That's just my window manager, you know. For example, I'm using opera right now. I'm not limited in application use. I still have a cursor (X Windowing System)
I just like to use my keyboard more ;)

But to each his/her own!

Well, then I guess it doesn't really confuse you, if you know the answer, now does it? :P

Keyboard input is more efficient only in certain circumstances. People forget that, but doing from the CLI what most people use their computers for would be silly. You could use ViM to write your school papers, but why would you? To feel cool? Watching youtube in text mode would be pretty darn silly (Heh, although they do have an ASCII renderer, although a)I think they took it down and b)It still renders as video)

Oh, uh, I would post my desktop, but I am on my netbook with Win 7 starter so it's uninteresting.

My background changed, but as you can see it's for the better.
lol. those girls are obviously a copy/paste job. look at their features.. they look EXACTLY the same.. i don't care if they're twins, that's just lazy shit. man i hope this new duke nukem game is good..

I don't think Star cares about the girls, 'cause he has me. :) He cares about Duke sitting on his throne. Hehe.

Here's mine. It's not uber cool, and I don't even know how most of the stuff got on there as I share this computer with Star a lot (I don't like my other one, har har har). My other computer is an XP with a totally different background and full of virus protections. :(

I love simplicity, but I guess I don't understand why everyone uses these GUIs for their desktops. Since getting the new PC for graduation I've stuck to rotating the awesome default vistas out every month or so. This is the current one:

VISTAS FTW!

Do you honestly own Reason? I mean, it's the best synth and composing software I've ever tried, but it costs $350 for the software alone, and getting a significant number of ReFills costs even more. As for the last statement, I prefer Win7. Same GUI, more options, smarter addons, and fewer issues.

Uh, he said Vistas. As in, a view.

Problem with that is, vistas have existed since before humanity. I thought it was generally acknowledged that they were awesome by now. As for the way he's using that, I'm pretty sure he means backgrounds.

I worked at a Guitar Center for a few months before I moved for college. Got it at 35% off.

Switched my window manager AGAIN. Back to dwm. More fun, config is done before compile time (editing config.h and rarely dwm.c)
