This is pretty much as good a picture you can get of our downtown.

Not many people here live in small towns, which is fairly surprising. I guess I shouldn't complain about living here-it's always quiet, plus there's lots of stuff to do in the summer. The winter's are kind of pathetic compared to places not that far from here, but it's been a good winter this year. :grin:

(did I mention? In the summer, we're home to the National Cherry Pit Spitting Contest. Yes, apparently it's an actual sport to see who can spit a cherry seed the farthest.)

You know........ If I didn't live in such a small town, and I hadn't seen the picture of where you live, I would have thought you were full of shit. Good to know that there's one sport I can play without breaking my legs. And I might actually be good at it..... Wait. Did hell just freeze over? Wtf?

I live in a small town! It's just that it's so small and/or without reason/landmarks/anything that we just all associate with the nearest larger city. It's a giant spread of suburbs.

your tram looks shit, the only decent trams in the uk are the ones in Sheffield and they don't even go anywhere worthwhile. the ones in Manchester are dead loud and dodgy too, i remember my mate's tram derailed after a Radiohead gig there and he was sat around for ages stuck in the middle of nowhere, i was in a car though so was smug

those small towns look depressing as hell, living in a city gets boring enough so i can't imagine there's an exhaustive list of things to do in a place one tenth the size

yes, it is horrid
but there's also something cool about being the city of smut shops, strip clubs, and nudist colonies.

But those pics of clearwater beach I posted in FC are nice as hell, you have to admit

The horrid realities of Tampa Bay. I live just outside in a border town called Oldsmar. But I frequently travel to Brandon and Tampa to visit family. Most of what you see in Tampa is shitty.

Huh, weird, you guys all say Tampa is a pretty horrid place, yet it's ranked as the 8th cleanest city by Yahoo! in the USA and the 5th best outdoor city by Forbes. Contradictions galore!

Hey Brew, I've been to Detroit quite a few times, and sadly a lot of what you see in those pictures are common. There are good spots, but bad spots seem to be much more common. Especially now that GM is doing very badly, that city is just gonna keep going downhill. (I once got to stay in the GM building hotel on the 50th floor, it was pretty cool!)

Yeah I have no idea what those people are talking about. I mean Clearwater is pretty nice and downtown St. Petersburg is halfway decent and where i live in the north is pretty ok but Tampa (i.e. the CITY of tampa) itself is a gigantic hairy armpit

I mean we have such luxuries as stoplights hanging on wires and no visible streetsigns/address numbers and potholes and poorly-planned roads and buildings from the 40's no one has ever renovated and very well-known crack houses and copious amounts of strip joints and smut shops visible from the interstates and 80% of the roads don't have streetlamps or sidewalks and rusty dilapidated tin shacks set on major roads and no visible signs of a positive cultural architectural influence

so yeah it's real great, thanks forbes

I went on the London Eye though, that isn't as "thrilling" as the brochure said ! THEY LIED TO ME !
