FYI to energy drink imbibers: Drugs like [high amounts of]caffeine, guarana, speed, ephedrine, etc., which speed up the heart unnaturally, weaken your heart over time.
I'm fecked.
I have a SERIOUS caffeine dependancy. As in, if I don't have it for a 12-hour period, I get a migraine...
Trying to lay off a bit...
Stupid school...
Sounds like addiction to me.
No, don't laugh - hear me out.
Caffeine is an addictive chemical. Taken on its own, it's a psychoactive stimulant. Dependence on caffeine can lead to anxiety and stress disorders, and stomach ulcers in extreme cases.
Also, it can lead to male infertility and birth defects.
It's possible for people's brains to become hardwired and cause them to be physically addicted to caffeine, sort of like someone who is addicted to methamphetamines(not the best example, but it's the first other stimulant drug I thought of).
Since prolonged exposure to caffeine causes the brain to develop more adenosine receptors (adenosine is what tells the brain 'Hey! You're getting tired now!'), which means that when you suddenly stop drinking/taking caffeine, you get a ton of lethargy and your sleep patterns are messed up.
There's a ton of other stuff I could mention as well, but I don't want to worry you.
I would advise you to quit before you get addicted, though.
I've been through that, and it is
not fun.
Withdrawal lasts roughly a week, and peaks after about 48 hours. It's ...not an enjoyable experience.
