Some guy on another forum (Yes that's right, I have other places to visit too!) asked me to do a Wakka pixel avatar for him, told him I'll start it tomorrow, but then threw this together really quickly to give him an idea of what I was thinking of, told him I'll obviously fix it up tomorrow and make it look pretty, although he thinks it looks great as is lol, I think it's sloppy as fuck, due to me being SO tired... I mean, it IS 5:30am lol;

The level of detail and accuracy alone is staggering. Even without coloring and stuff, like I knew immediately it was Wakka, needed no text to confirm it.
As for me, I'm gonna have more to show soon since I'm planning to redesign the spaceship in Intelligence, as well as give Fyori an animated battler, but for now, here's a Sprite I started making for Sacreblu, no hood yet, but the rest is basically complete, made a base with mack's generator.
Also these! While we're here-- I doubt these are likely to be used in the end product since we're going with a very different spriting style for Fantasia, but this was just me having fun with mackgen + gimp

I'm gonna' assume one of your artists drew those characters? I like the black and red one, mainly because at first I thought they were badly drawn wings, but then saw it's a scarf/belt thing wrapped around her waist, which makes it a pretty cool design. And yeah if you were going with those sprites, it wouldn't take much editing to get them to look proper, mainly just hair and colour tweaks for the most part.

Started just recently on the sprite base for Fyori's battle sprite.
It'll get clothes and junk later right now im just working on shaping.
Checked the other forums and more people were impressed with the Wakka I did, and someone else asked for a sprite doing, he wanted Zell from Final Fantasy VIII, in the same style too... the guy was really impressed but said it sucked that there wasn't enough room to fit his facial tattoo on, so I made a quick flip edit and told him the tattoo WAS there in the first place, just on the other side of his face, and I had to bribe Zell into turning his head so we could see it... fuck knows;
Either way, the guy was more than happy with it... now I've got someone asking for a Sazh sprite! Looks like I'm opening a new spriting business or something, lol.

Now I'm gonna do the cel-shadey thing and color it, then after all that I'll add the clothes on a different layer when I'm not using mspaint.
Did I mention this is gonna animate?
Will be great fun...

Oh I've already made money with pixel art before, done plenty of commission work over the years lol. I still remember my first ever paid work which was when I was 17, it was a set of seven character sprites, all sixteen frames using the RPG Maker XP template, based on some anime, not a clue what it was but everyone was wearing similar outfits that consisted of black and white suits for the most part, but he sent me a reference picture for each character... took me about a week to finish them all, but had no idea how much to charge for them, so he offered me £100... I was over the moon with that, since I was only getting paid £20 a week from college anyway... ah the good ol' days! :thumb:
Looks like you're going crazy with the wings lol... just wondering but when you add onto it with another layer, will you be cleaning the lines up, or keeping them as they are? Because right now it's looking very... blocky.

The lines will simply be gone, like if you look up at any of my previous posts with celshaded sprites, you'll see this is just the 'frame' for color bodies, and shading will constitute as the form.
Just like this, only larger, and now I have a semi-transparent layer above I'll have to deal with. (The Pink blouse)
It'll be rewarding but will take some time.
Edit: MASSIVE UPDATE
Deconstruct (Thank layers for this being a thing, will make animation easier.)
Just gotta add the remaining details, give her eyes more detail, and then its animation time...

... Yes, the shitty yellow square is supposed to be his baby chocobo lol, it's kinda' hard when I only had a 3x3 pixel space to make it with lol, although at 1x or 2x size it's easy enough to identify since y'know, it's smaller and would look like a blob anyway.
