Pass it on! (Community Project)

Idea sounds great, and it looks like it's going to be great too.

I assume you also have the Balance of the game covered? You would just make some balance standards and pass those on to the ones that are going to create the rest?

Again, it's a wonderful idea, and i would love to see a demo soon. ^_^

It has begun!

I apologize for the delay. I've been extremely busy lately and would've liked to have started this much earlier. But I've finally finished the introduction, and thus Pass it on has "officially" begun!

I've just PMed the download link to Guardian, so he can start his part and get things going. After he's done, it'll go to piggman77, then Tdata, and so on, and so on...

Again, sorry about the delay, but I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out so far. Oh, and Kodakami and feralninja, thanks alot for the compliments, they're much appreciated. :)

If anybody has any questions I'll try to answer them as best I can. Unfortunately, I'll be gone from Wednesday untill Sunday, so they probably won't be answered until at least Monday or so.

Sometime next week I'll try to get this topic moved to Project Discussion so people can see some screenshots of everyone's progress, and a bit of what's been going on.

(Kodakami, to answer your question, I suppose it'd be alright if two people worked on one bit. My main concern would be that it might take a little longer, with communications between the two people and all. But if think you can do it, then feel free to PM me and tell me who the other person is and I'll give you the thumb's up. )

Look forward to seeing the work you two have done on it when it comes to me. Hopefully when it comes to me I can keep my part up to the same high standards!

However, I need to know if I can create a tileset. I know we have the "no custom" policy, but I need to make a divider and some text so the player can differentiate between the party and reserve members.

^I need an answer for that, although a speedy response isn't necessary.

I'm just getting started, so everyone knows. I had some other responsibilities to take care of, but I'm working on it now. :thumb:

Back now :D

Sorry, must've missed that question. I guess it would kind of depend...if it would only be in one specific area and wouldn't continue throughout the game, and would be necessary for your party switcher idea, then yes, I suppose you could. When I said no custom tilesets, I mostly meant scenery tilesets (caves, forests, towns, etc.) but if tilesets like that are needed then yeah, as long as they aren't part of the "main gameplay" part. (Sorry if I misunderstood your question Guardian, do you mean a place that uses your tileset where the player switches party members?)

Yeah, it would be specific to the place where one would switch party members. I just need something that would act as a label while the player is choosing their party.

I have unfortunately been delayed a little. I have 2 computers. One has RMXP on it (a laptop), the other one I recently had to wipe clean and I re-installed RMXP. Well, the mouse for the computer with RMXP on it broke and I haven't been able to get a new activation code from Protexis for my other computer. I'll try to work on it with the mouse pad thing on the laptop, but it takes forever. I swear technology hates me. :|:

I emailed Protexis just to get RMXP on my new computer and I got a new activation code emailed back by the end of the day. I might just be lucky though. Good luck with it dude.

I got the new RMXP code and my mouse is fixed, so I spent a while working on it today. I've encountered a few problems with the party selection system, but they're just minor bugs that I should be able to fix quickly. After that, I have to actually start working on the game part of it. X:

This is such an awesome idea, I am signing up for the next one there is if that is possible. Put me on queue?

If people don't do their work for a while are you going to be kicking them off?

I haven't heard from Guardian in a while, but I'm sure he's still working on it. From what I understand, he's putting in some complex stuff, so it should be interesting.

Kiriashi: It would depend on the circumstances. If people are very busy and have almost no time to work on it, then we can either wait until they have more free time, or hand it off to me or the next person, depending on what state it's in. If people are just lazy and don't want to work on it, then we'll just skip 'em. Hopefully that won't happen!

Oh okay. Hmm, I can't wait to see how this will end up. Can you tell me what you made Dadevster? Or like, post an unencrypted file of the progress of this game through it's stages in the first post? That would be nice.

Really nice idea!

Afer Guardian finishes up his part, I plan to move this topic over to Project Discussion and update it with screenshots, plot, characters, etc., but not too much so that a lot of what you'll see in the end result is a surprise.

I would, in the future, put a deadline for each participant. It would be a large amount of time for working on it, but it's a way of moving on if a member myseriously dissapears. It was a concern of mine from the start, actually.

The main problem I have with that is that I feel like I'd be rushing people, which would pressure them to produce work of lesser quality in a shorter amount of time. We'll see how this goes first. I admit, I'm being a little lax, and I'd like to see things done a little quicker too, but that would be a bit hypocritical of me.

I'll PM Guardian to see what the status is on the project so far.
