God I hate setting permissions and writing command lists. Ugh. But when I'm done, I'll have a nice downloadable PDFs of all commands that each user class (normal/captain/vizier/etc) can use. @_@
 
We're going to need one last White Wolf.

I should mention that, on day 1, there will be a creativity contest, and it will ONLY be open to people on the WW or PP teams.
You will be allowed to request to be ejected from the group by the Team Captains if you only want to be in the group for creativity contests, FYI.
(After this first contest, it will be entirely the Captains' discretions whether or not they will want you or accept you for creativity contests. In fact, they may even try to sweeten the deal for you if you agree to help them out and you're particularly good at building!)

Just sayin.
 
Errr... Well, since Raze posted well before me in this thread, I'm cool with staying Gray for now. Maybe I'll switch over later if there's another imbalance.

Also, I am FINALLY done with permissions and commands [I think].
There will probably be a short, awkward period in the beginning where someone can't do X thing b/c I f'ked up somewhere. Hopefully not much.

Next few days will see me just fine-tuning things, adding NPCs to the world, and trying to get this freaking economy to play nice. But expect the server to be up at some point this week ~

I couldn't get names to color correctly. But I can add team capes instead!!!!! So I'll do that ...
Would someone kindly make me a nice-looking all-white cape & an all-purple cape .png por favor? (With nice shading and all that I mean, not horrible solid blocks)
(If not I can do it but it's just like yet another thing, y'know)

P.S. It will be super extra required, after all, that everyone uses the SpoutCraft client, after all.
It is exactly like using normal Minecraft, except it gives you more options! :O! (Also it allows the server to show special things it wouldn't be able to otherwise.)
You can download the Spoutcraft Client here: http://spout.in/exe
To use it, just drop it any old place, and run that instead of running Minecraft.exe. Still uses all the same files, don't worry. It will not affect SSP or any other vanilla game. I swear to jeeblers it will not hinder nor negatively affect your ability nor experience in playing the game in any way, shape, or form. Just tell it to update when it asks, after 1st running it.

So will we still be able to use any mods with SpoutCraft?
 
It depends. Please verify them through me first, and if they're something that won't hinder gameplay, I'll try to add it to the allowable client mods (so long as it will work in Bukkit ... A lot of them don't).

I won't allow ... Ever:
- Flying mods
- Anything that alters damage, speed, or other stats
- Server-hogging viewable-distance-related mods
- Mods that alter monster drops (though I don't know of any that work on SMP anyway)
- "X-Ray"-type texture packs or "X-Ray" mods, which allow you to see hidden ore
- Breathing underwater mods (I've added too many dungeons that rely on drowning as a threat)

I don't have minimaps working yet, but that'll be something I'll try to get working after launch.

It's a problem that a lot of people are appearing to get though so hopefully it will be fixed before the end of the week, so I don't have to scrap this fucking permissions plugin and try another oneeee

What permissions plugin are you using?

Edit: I forgot to ask, are you using Essentials? Because that has its own permission for placing/breaking blocks, which is distinct from the default one.
 
I have Essentials. I have a fixed/updated WorldGuard (WG trumps Ess in block ownership by LEAGUES based on the polygon-based boundaries, etc). I scrapped iConomy & Factions, and now use Essentials's economy and SimpleClans for the group shit.
For permissions, I am using bPermissions, b/c it seemed to work flawlessly with all other plugins, but there is a problem with block building that has been noticed by a ton of other people in the latest update, so I am assuming it should hopefully be fixed soon.
(And yes I know QUITE well that all groups are supposed to have "bPermissions.build".)

In any case I am still setting WG regions, item prices, and setting up NPCs (with custom skins~~ oOOOoo~~).
After that, a small fine-tuning of the server-standard texture packs (16x & 32x), and then I will finally have it up & ready to go!!

Right now I am planning on launching the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS (Monday, Dec 26th)!

I just finished the mob-fighting colosseum, and it rocks!!! Ya'll should have SUPER lots of fun with it after server start!
(It's pretty damn hard, too!)

You basically just mosey up to it, go to spectate, or type a quick command, and then you enter a lobby. You pick a class (right now, there're the classes of Marauder, Paladin, Medic, and Ranger), then agree to start when ready. You are teleported to the fighting grounds, beneath a massive audience. You're then barraged with wave after wave of escalatingly-difficult monsters, and finish with a big ol' boss monster. Based on how you compete, you win money & stuff! Plus, there's a scoreboard which showcases the stats of the last battle outside the lobby!

I was all peeved with writing permissions and all that, but after getting this to work, I'm stooookkkkkeeeeedddddddddd
that shit is p fun :D
 
I'm sorry ;o; I was SHOOTING for the 26th but missed :(.
Been feeling pretty under the weather for the past 3-4 days. Plus it is taking me WAY WAY WAY longer to set up these freaking regions than I thought. So close to done, though, and nary an error in sight!!! Should only need a couple more days, but can't launch on Friday or Saturday b/c I will be out of town.

What do ya'll think of a server launch on Jan 1st? Feels like a good, round date--and everyone'll finally be done with holiday celebrations.

Sounds great, just take as much time as you need :)
 
The server's working! Now I only need Glitch and Dr. Funk to login and perform the commands I told them to do, and then we'll be all set to start :D
