No Gas on May 15th!

I know that the word is getting out, because I have relatives in other states who have tole me that this is a big deal.

NO GAS on May 15....let's protest!!!!!!

Body: in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest
of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are not to go to a gas station....in
protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network,
and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION)
out of the oil company's pockets for just one day, so please do not go to
the gas station on
May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for
at least one day.

If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to all your
contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

I already planned to do that, but I think I would make more of a statement if I had a car to fill up gas. >_< But yes, people should protest the high price of gas, since it's just way too high now. @_@

It is up to $3.32 where I live, and I live in a small 3500 population town!

Pfft....These "anti-petrol" days are pure stupidity. What are you doing? Delaying your purchase, that's it. So you don't buy it that day, they'll get their funds sometime that week. Nothing can happen from a single day of profit loss if profits rocket the rest of the week.

It's estimated to reach $4.00 soon. When I start driving soon and especially over the holidays where people want to travel they won't be able too. I'll give in to their demands but I should at least get some compensation.

I feel bad for you Grandor. If gas prices hit $4, well...I'd be like hell fuck no, and seriously consider using public transportation until things got cheaper.

What's weird is because weren't prices at least 50 cents cheaper like a couple of weeks ago?

Right now, over here it's 3 bucks for regular. Which is ridiculous. I've taken to riding my truck until it's only running on the gas fumes before I get gas. Which is more than a little scary (especially since it always seems to be nighttime when my gas tank decides to be empty...)

So what if it won't work? =_= People can try. Besides, just to sit there and not complain or protest against 3 bucks a gallon is just useless. Might as well fight for your money until you desperately need the gas for your car.

I might just buy a hybrid to save me some cash. Hydrogen is becoming the new gas. Our dependence on fossil fuels for are cars are limited.

Gas prices will continue to get higher because our supplies are running out and have been for the last several years. Until we find another fuel source, gas prices will continue to soar. At a certain point, no matter how many people protest, gas prices will remain ridiculously high. It's not a matter of just trying to rip people off for the sake of it, it's a matter of high demand + low supply. I have a car and to be honest, I don't know where I would be without it. Now whether I purchase gas or not that day, I will still have to eventually. And for all of you idealists out there, it's not that easy to just take public transportation (which is fueled by gas anyway) or walk everywhere.

Now something that should be protested is when gas companies hijack their prices in a time of crisis. I live in Florida and we have seen many an evacauation during hurricane season. There have been a couple of times that certain gas companies raised their prices solely because we were in a state of emergency. Now, that is truly f***ked up.

How about rather than not buying gas for a day, lets use that god-given brains of ours and actually start evolving like the rest of the planet and quit with the oils for a mode of transportation. There's so many things out there, why in the blue hell, are we still using gas and other oils? There's solar power, hydrogen fuel cells, other chemical crap that will out last gas any days. Why the world as a hole, still uses the same thing now for a hundred years, just "tuned it", is beyond me.

But like Myo said, you don't buy one day, they will just cover their ass for a day (they have money in reserves), and profits will soar the rest of the week. Who do you think started this idea? I can bet, if you look at a profit chart from '97, after they protested, they oil industry got a nice chunk of money.

So instead, stop buying gas. I am 20, and refuse to buy a gas powered car. I am just going to build my own solar powered car, or wait until they mass produce something else. It's not like I don't use cars or whatever, but come on. You can't just keep letting them take your money.
