It's going to look like super mario rpg. With a lots of timing moves. So it'll be a lilttle bit more interactive compare to a standard rpg. I'm glad you like what I'm doing.
 
I can already see you're basing the game system similar to Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, since the system you're incorporating into this game is almost the same. This might be the best fangame ever made...

I hope Toad will teach us about timed hits! And don't forget about Booster, you can't have a fan game without goofy looking villains trying to marry the Princess. It'd also be sweet if the Axem Rangers return!

So far, all of his graphics/textures come from recent, 3D games.

I don't know if that means anything, but keep that in mind.
 
Well, the inside house tileset I made is nearly 100% costum. Making costum characters, tileset takes a lil bit more time thats for sure. But I can do pretty much anything, but it can take a while.

Woah that video makes my mouth water. That's some pretty impressive stuff right there. I know it's hard to include stuff and it will take a lot of time because there isn't any recent games, but it's just wishful thinking. Here's something I know you can do, include Toad as a playable character and make him badass

wow the video really does showcase how smooth it is! i didnt realize rmxp was that flexible, pretty cool. i'd like to see chomps, but anyway it looks like your on track with this fangame. oh ya i was wondering do you have or plan on making any of the sub-pipe level tilesets? if so you got it made! blender3ds been sitting on my computer uninstalled for awhile buti'm thinkin about givin it a try now ;) gl

Indeed, the battlesystem is next! I'll think about Toad...
 
That video made it official that this is going to be the best Mario RM fangame ever made. Can't wait for the battlesystem. It'd better be impressive.
 
Hmmmmm ideas forming in my mind.... lots of ideas...
Why not base your game off the old animated series a bit?
Rather then Bowser, use King Koopa from the series... have Mario Luigi and Princes Toadstool and Toad as the main characters, watch the different animated series that came on TV, you could come up with some awesome plots that way.
As for the music, i suggest .. making the music sound more closely to the classic versions, while those redone versions are nice.. it is kinda annoying to hear them with incorrect instruments... it is hard to explain.

These ofcourse are all just suggestions... if i was able to do these games.. as for music.. i could probably help... i got some midis i redone to sound better with RMXP.

One of my biggest problems with Mario games and the stuff i used to see on TV, is Nintendo never drew much inspiration from the western cartoons, and he should have, he really should have(he being Shigeru Miyamoto).. it would have worked really well.. you have that chance to.. graphically you are very talented.

Again.. just suggestions.. my 2 cents.

Wow! It reminds me of Mario: Legend of the seven stars, which is an RPG. But I'm sure you know that, seeing as you're a fan lol

I saw the first thread and I know I wanna be playing it when it gets finish! It looks fantastic! And I don't think that anyone has take the time you have, to make their own characters, or at least not in 3d, which will be even cooler to play with :)

I hope to see more, I will be watching this thread 'cause I too, am a Mario fan :haha:

The tilset is already rendered at the right angle. So all you do is play with layers. But it's hard since you got to deal with the angle.
 
Hey I got a question for you folks.

I'm currently studying the possibility to edit an already made costum battle system script.

Do you guys know a battle script that is easily editable to make a smrpg like battle system?

I'm currently building one from scratch, but maybe editing one is easier.
