Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots

I like the game. I have MGS3. MGS3 is a prequel though... So tell me why I should buy MGS4 if:

- I barely know anything about the plot since MGS3
- The Essencial Collection was not released in Europe

I loved MGS Online (2) though, but I'll be really annoyed if I play the game without understanding the plot! But I had the beta demo for MGS Online for PS3, and I won as Snake in Blood Bath at my first time as Snake, in Sneaking Mode!!! I rule! It was so cool!

Alright. I been avoiding this thread ever since I last posted in fears of spoilars. But now that I have completed the game myself I can discuss the events that transpired (spoilar free).

So unfortunately I wasn't able to take any pictures with Kojima. I was pretty much rushed through and I was also lugging a PS3 so the whole thing was very hectic. I did manage to squeeze out a hello but that was about it. I was definitely more excited about getting the game home and playing it than meeting Kojima anyway. Fortunately I wasn't mugged on my way back to Grand Central.

After crashing, I spent the whole next day playing. It was probably the best way to spend a day off ever. The first two acts of the game are brilliant and remind me of the gameplay segments in MGS3 I loved so much. The later acts are still enjoyable but don't quite live up to the first two. I sort of expected this as there is a lot of story to wrap up and I knew the gameplay would eventually become restricted. It's still probably the best time you'll have playing a game this year anyway. I am already excited to go back and play through again. Also I can't help but think that certain segments of the game were Kojima trying his hand at different genres (zombie flicks, film noir, etc.).

The ending was definitely one of the more satisfying wrap ups to a legendary series like Metal Gear. Now that it's finished though I find myself with this expensive system sitting in my apartment. Time to find other ways to produce enjoyment from it. The next title on my list to play is Planet Earth.

So I went to the local mom-an-pop video game shop in town and they had a copy of MGS4 so I grabbed it and started playing it two nights ago. I'm only 2 acts in, and already it's been blowing me away. I've heard little spoilers here and there, so I know a little bit of what's probably going to happen, but I'm still excited nonetheless. Although I thought he was a total dork in MGS2 I cannot wait to see Raiden's appearance in MGS4. Brilliant I say. Brilliant.

Oh yeah:
@ArtBane: Buy Grand Theft Auto 4 and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Both will surely make use of your wonderful PS3.

Okay, my husband just beat the game, and I just beat Mass Effect, so that means it's my turn.

I watched him play some portions. MGS4 is nothing short of a masterpiece.

And I won't give anything away, but expect A-L-L of the loose ends to be neatly tied up. I mean all of them.

I finished the game at 8pm. EDIT: end saves say 8:21pm

Wow. Defenetly a masterpeice.

The two first acts are indeed where you have the action. I went a bit non mgs on those two. the third act was great alot of sneaking there and amazing chase. Act 4 was nostalgic i wont spoil anything yet. Act 5 was good but short and i hated the button mashing. Oh and when you finish it dont turn off the ps3 untill all credits rolled. I saluted snake at the end. Indeed "War has changed.."

The control way annoyed me with my disability at least to a certain degree (so far all ps3 games i own ican play them) pushing L1 to toggle the wepon then shoot with R1 kinna annoyed me but the auto lock helped me alot. I mostly sticked with the m4 god i love that weapon twoard the 4th act i installed a scope on it for more precision

ill wait two weeks until i make my spoiled review that'll give enough time for many to finish it

Ive played into the first two acts and they are wonderful so far. This is a great way to start off my PS3 game collection :3

Oh man. I'm behind everyone else because I haven't been playing it as much as I should be, but I did just defeat Laughing Octopus last night (non-lethally ;) ) and the second battle scared the fuckin shit outta' me. Jesus Christ.

BEST GAME EVER.

Is it worth playing and understandable if I haven't played the first two or do you advise to wait till the first two are released in Europe or something like that? Please answer!

And I also advise Uncharted, good game, I love the... uh... "dark" part in the bunker, hehe.

Umm what are you on about, every Metal Gear Solid has been released in Europe.  If they haven't where you live then they won't be.

That didn't even really occur to me until Crying Wolf and then I was all, "huh, it just sort of looks like she wants a hug :/. Oh well! pow pow pow pow"

shoot first, ask questions later usually works T_T

Hmmm. I used the tranquilizer for both forms. The only way you get their beast masks is by beating them with non-lethals.
