So I made some tests today, and amazingly Atoa's CBS doesn't have any script issues with ANY of my previous scripts. This is almost a miracle, considering how complex the CBS is, and the fact that I had already edited MANY of the main classes. The battle system will be done any time soon, and I'm thinking by the end of the year you guys will be able to enjoy a small preview of Medina Stories. ;)

Also, I found this game on YouTube. It's made by the legendary scripter Cogwheel. The game itself is not a big deal, but the battle system is out of this world.

Nocturne is an amazing game. Its mapping is not that good, but all the japanese I know always say it is one of the best RPG Maker games ever made. I wish I spoke japanese so I could understand the plot .-.

And it's cool you're using ACBS. It allows you to do lots of amazing stuff XD
Hope to see some previews hehe

See ya \o

I'll write this quick since I'm late for the hospital.
As you know, I've done some amazing work the last few weeks. I finished the license board. I've made maps. I've updated the movement system. I've edited Atoa's CBS, which has taken a lot of hard work.
I've been busy.

But I just noticed my grades have gotten lower, which really doesn't work for me.
So I'll have to pay the toll on this one.
I'm not quitting work. But I'll work only on Saturdays. Not every single fucking day.
The battle system is practically done. I basically just need to finish the menu and do a shit ton of sprites.

I will release a demo in December. That's a promise.

Mindfuck. Can someone please finish writing my license board script for me? It's 99% done, but I just can't seem to finish it. Working with arrays is giving me a serious headache.

Holy crap. Is that battle system seriously on RMXP? Because I didnt think anything that fluid could work on it (looks at own battle system... is saddened). Geeze... wish I could find artists and spriters of their quality to recruit... since the art on my side is going VERY slow recently, haha.

Prologue: The Siege of Damascus

The Kingdom of Nabatea, in an ongoing effort to expand its territory, is attacking the Kingdom of Siria, specifically the Capital City of Damascus. The chief general of the Nabatean army, Bella, and his right-hand man, Alis, are leading the campaign. Unknowingly, the other protagonists are in Damascus: a mysterious girl named Mirus; Flamma, the sorceress princess of Nabatea; a dashing pirate named Felis; and his partner, Juvo. Their destinies will soon be intertwined, even though, at this very moment, they ignore this fact.

The game starts when Nabatean army is heading towards Damascus. They reach the town by nightfall and a battle ensues between the Nabatean army and the guards of the city. The guards are defenseless against the strong soldiers of the army, and they're bound to lose. Meanwhile, with the arson, riots and mayhem, havoc wreaks upon the temper of the city populace, and citizens set towards the port, in an effort to leave Damascus.

Mirus, alone and scared for her life, is also trying to escape. Bella and Alis spot her, and chase her down an alley. Eventually, they meet a dead end. As soon as they're about to strike, Flamma appears out of nowhere to defend Mirus. Flamma had previously fled the Kingdom of Nabatea for unknown reasons. Rumors told she now was a rebel who fought the kingdom.

After a short fight, Bella and Alis decide to return to the siege. Flamma and Mirus make a run for the port. In their way, they encounter soldiers attacking Felis and Juvo. They fight the soldiers and help the couple escape. Felis tells Flamma and Mirus he has a ship in the dockyard. They can use the ship to travel to the neighboring desert town of Palmira, and take refuge.

In the dockyard, the party is attacked by a tamed monster of the Nabatean army. They quickly overcome this obstacle and board Felis' ship. They set sail towards Palmira. Even though the river flows in the opposite direction, the ship has a built-in steam engine. In the distance, they see the burning portrait of Damascus, and Mirus start crying.

In the meantime, the Nabatean army takes over the city. Bella and Alis, along with other soldiers, head towards the Basilica Stoa, where the city officers are meeting. Bella gives an order not to attack the diplomats. Instead, he hands out a letter to the King of Siria. It's a treaty, swearing allegiance to the King of Nabatea, and unifying both kingdoms under a same rule. Having no other choice, the king signs the treaty. The army retreats, leaving a few soldiers behind to maintain law and order.

On their way back, Alis starts asking uncomfortable questions. The two soldiers killed many innocent people on this siege, by ruling of the King of Nabatea. Alis is wondering why the princess, who attacked them earlier, fled under such mysterious circumstances. Bella and Alis come to a stop, and Alis says his setting on a personal quest to find the princess. After a short pause, Bella, who can't portray his emotions, tells him to leave and to take whatever he needs. Shortly after, Bella asks two of his men to follow Alis into the desert and spy on him.

You people suck. :/

No one commented on the prologue. Anyhow, I made the timeline today. I'm looking for a screenwriter to write the dialogues. If anyone's interested, please let me know. I'm afraid if I write the dialogues myself, I might end up with a bunch of cheesy one-liners.

Anyhow, I'm bringing back the videos. This one's called Sunset Waltz. It has what seems to be semi-custom graphics, and a very well crafted introduction.

This is how proper mapping should be carried out.

Where the hell is a mapper like that when I need one? UGH. Since my current mapper is AWOL at the moment, it would sure be nice to have someone with such mapping skills! *drools* these people need to offer their services for a fee.

Also wish I had your talents for menu making, haha. Mostly the artistic side at that!

The pains of being an rm developer... ;)

In general people just don't read prologues of games except if they are really into the game. Don't get me wrong, it's great that you've written it to develop your story, but the only way people will read it is by conveying it in the game. Nice selection of videos again btw.

(Zank, i can help you map, you know that :P you should also send your to-do list for the website ^^)

You are absolutely right. I think I'm almost done with programming. As soon as I'm done, I'll release a demo. But I'm getting worried about the writing, specially since I'm not a particularly good writer.

Sometimes it's harder to catch your own mistakes regardless of how many times you try reviewing it alone. Still, worry about fine tuning dialogue later, finish whatever you can now and get help later. Don't let it hold the project up. Chances are you'll find more willing proofreaders once they have more complete material (draft of the dialogue, visuals, etc) ready anyway.

I could always try to give advice, etc. I am often afraid to go too far with other peoples materials though, haha. But I mean, I can always try to find some time to give your dialogue a look over, or even help with some of the written portions. I do want to span my horizons, haha.

Men and women, artists and developers, to anyone interested,

I need a story writer, that is, someone to write my story for me.

I'm almost done with the game programming, meaning I can start building the game. But to do this, I need a story.

The only requisite is not to change the sprites of the six main characters (which I shall post soon enough).

Thank you.

Well, seeing as no one's responded....

I can't exactly vouch that I'm a good writer, but I can do some good idea pitching and be a good feedback board for things.

I can try to get a story established if needed- my stories basically rip off a lil bit of everything and have tinges of originality here and there :P
