Master of the Wind

Master of the Wind (Complete!)

Finally managed to open up and keep going. Just died twice against the fire/lightning mage. Hopefully I'll beat him up more tomorrow.

Two things.

1. The underwater minigame thing was too hard in one sense and too easy in another. I seemed very inconsistent with the tapping of the enter key- like sometimes I would hit it incredibly fast without effect, and other times I would just hit it pretty fast and it would work; perhaps if you hit it TOO fast it doesn't register? There were also a few random glitches (like the enemy would run at me and freeze) where I had to restart.

Despite that, it was too easy because all of the enemy patterns were preset. Use random variables man, it adds so much more to the game. I had to do it fifteen or sixteen times before I beat the thing, and after the first three I had the first round of attacks memorized. That sort of killed some of the action.

2. Love the whole monastery academy thing. Great job with that- looking forward to more. Also, Ketsu man. I was expecting the guest speaker to be Kovac or something but things just keep getting deeper and deeper. And with Cade becoming friends with Gabriella- shiiiiit.

also, whoever made that animation for Zala did a pretty tight job. ;)

Slowly but surely, eh? Glad you're still enjoying it. The Zala spriting was done was Despain, and its certainly hard to imagine that scene without it. Now if only she had a battler worthy of how badass that transformation turned out to be.

I don't have too much to say on the minigame, as I didn't design it. I don't recall ever having that problem with the Enter key sequence that you describe, though I don't doubt it could come up. As far as the pre-set patterns for the lodite attacks, ArtBane's reasoning seems to have been that a completely random sequence could prove impossible to overcome for those who have a harder time with the reaction games. If you have a player who just isn't quick enough to hit whichever button has been prompted, memorization helps them get through it.

I was hoping the identity of the guest speaker would be something of a shock. In terms of the story, I think Ketsu needed a chance to appear in daylight and speak in a non-Hand environment. Hopefully what people got out of his monologue was that though he is passionate about the Gallian ideals, he is not a complete sycophant. He's mature enough to criticize the mistakes of Gallian leaders in the past and knows some changes have to be made should the movement rise again. Still enough to piss off Cade, though. :p

really not happy about a certain game stopping bug. if you fail in the shroud + stoic wind assisted bone rush, you're stuck on the ice.

lucky i saved not far away

That is not suppose to happen. I have an idea of what may have caused the error though. It is one of those bugs that is almost impossible to reproduce but if you press a direction at the exact perfect time during the Bull Rush Puzzles Stoic will move in that direction even though he is not suppose to. Sorry about that.

Definately one of the best games I've ever played on RPG Maker. Downloaded the Super Pack and III and been playing non-stop (about to start on Arc III once I get some vittles).

I noticed though that Stoic learns Call to Arms twice. Once at an early level (8 or so) and then once again at level 15. Not sure if he's intended to learn it twice or if it's for when you start Arc III without a save file you start at 15 so he has it?

Definately going to write a review once I finish Arc III later today (hopefully).

Call to arms originally was a move you were supposed to learn at level 15 but after more testing I realized it was too overpowered. So for arc III I bumped the move up to level 19 as well as changed the way it worked. Sorry for the confusion.

Looking forward to reading your review. :)

I'm playing through the game again to get the secret ending and I found a small consistency error. Not sure if you guys caught it and fixed it yet, but just in case!

In the fight with Evrind, Finley/The Baron's battle picture is his civilian counterpart.

I as well found a small consistency error, in the ice dungeon I noticed a few instances in which Finley's face graphic appeared instead of the Baron's graphic. Also, when I left to get back to Boreal, Shroud runs at the entrance like Stoic when he bull rushes the wall.

Also, I think a while ago in the topic someone mentioned making a strategy guide for Master of the Wind, is that still going to be worked on, because I was thinking of throwing one together :P

Since they aren't game ending errors I probably won't go back and fix them for awhile but thanks for the reports nonetheless.

If you want to throw together a strategy guide Darklord I would appreciate it. I don't think Monkey Salt is working on one anymore.

The mole boss isn't really hard if you use a bit of strategy (much like every boss in the game, really).

Take out the moles he summons before you attack him everytime he summons them or he'll launch them at you and do a fair amount of damage, easily almost killing you. If you have Willy Nilly, then the battle is much more simple. Just use Willy Nilly till the boss is under the status effect and take out the moles.

Thought it was time for an update. ArtBane and I have been working hard on Arc IV, but we haven't really disclosed much in the thread as of late. That all changes today. What we've got is gonna turn your brain into shit. Behold the first Arc IV screenshots.

I know I'm probably just being a real noOb':| ,but in Super Pack, when you get to the four puzzle rooms inside the gallian church, the lower-right one is impossible to open!no matter what I do the barrier doesn't disappear...

You guys had to go and start a new page, didn't you? :p

VanillaFire, check out the discolored tile near the pillars on the bottom floor there. Everyone else, look here.
