Just curious if it would be possible to include the RGSS102e DLL file and the used RTP in the gamedisk/compressed file. Every time I try to show this to one of my friends, I end up also having to download those two things, which has the added effect of disinteresting them. >_>;

I have considered doing that in the past as some people I wanted to show it to were also not excited about downloading the program and RTP. I might look into doing that for future arcs. It would probably not add as much size as Powerdude mentioned since we don't use a lot of the RTP.

Yeah, if it was even close to the entire thing, I wouldn't even suggest it.

Another option is to include a .txt file with links to working downloads for the DLL and required RTP files.

So if I understand you correctly, you want the entire RTP downloaded with the game file...You are aware this will change the file size from 90 mb to 2 gb.

2 gb? Bull. The RTP isn't 2gb.

The complete RTP is only about 30MB. It wouldn't jump the file from 90MB to 2GB, that's just a silly accusation.

The game would just be roughly 120MB, at the very most since from what I've seen you don't use all of the RTP anyway.

EDIT: EmuMaster2002 beat me to it.

you should create 2 versions, one with rtp already and one without.
that way people with rtp already wont have to wait an extra 10 minutes

come on its ten mins.
Just go nuke some hotpockets, or drink a can of sprite maybe you could make a sandwhich, and by the time youre done eating or drinking the Dl will be finished.

Unless you find watching a progress bar filling up absolutely enthralling ten minutes is something incredibly stupid to argue about.

This is the best RMXP game out right now. More folks are coming to RMXP though. So heres to defending your title!!

The first post has been updated. The Super Pack is now available in a version that does not require RPG Maker XP to play. It did add about 17 megs to its size (not quite 2 gigs) so for those who already have the program I left up the lighter version.

Should be good news to all of my old college buddies who got into Clean Slate. They've been really reluctant to download the RMXP free trial when I talked to them about MotW in the past. I expect to hear spirited debates about such vital tidbits as who would win in a fight between Lysander and Ketsu. 17 MB will be a small price to pay for those discussions. XD

As some of you might know it has been sort of a tradition to release a comic around the time a new arc comes out. Awhile back Despain wrote a script for a new comic called Andau's Curse that detailed the events that took place right before the beginning of Arc I. The script was then handed over to the talented Wumpi who began drawing and coloring the comic. Since the comic is fairly long we decided to release it as a weekly thing so starting now you can expect a new page each week. Enjoy the first page of Andau's Curse!

Nice work, Despain and Wumpi. The reflections in the water and Rana's anklet are very nice touches.

On a side note, does that mean it's near release time? o:

Well, since I'm finally able and done beta-testing now that I have my computer back, time to input my thoughts to the new arc to the general public, spoiler free of course.

Worth the wait, the storyline is more in depth and developed then ever before, the ending is funny as hell, I'm sure you'll all love it. Same with as a few other people mentioned, one scene later on...perfectly done. Completely blew me away altogether, and I'm sure when all the battlers are there it will be even more superb. Keep on being patient guys, you'll love it.

On a side note, I'm hoping to finish the walkthrough for all the arcs by the end of this month.

Ill be sure to use it if its available, as long as it is unbelievably easy to access. I never do more work than necessary.

I am apathy incarnate. Id go into it, but i dnot really, meh.

The short comic series Andau's Curse continues today with an all new page. In case you missed the last post, Andau's Curse details the events that took place right before the beginning of Arc I. The awesome dialog and art is done by Despain and Wumpi respectively. The first page is also posted here for those who missed it.

And for those interested in the progress of Arc III the game is complete. We are just waiting on Enkur to finish the art. If you have any words of encouragement for him don't hesitate to send him a message.

Awesome! I love the way this is developing, and all the extras like the comic are real "collectors edition" grade bonus material.
Keep up the great work guys. My PS2 has been out of action for a few days, but with MotW I'm barely noticing it.

I'm incredibly excited for this game :)

*laughs* It would be amusing if this game comes out this week, I would probably think of it as a birthday present (since mine is on this week).

But yes, I've played both arcs several months back and was absolutely glued. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever posted about how much I loved this game, but I've been stalking this thread for MONTHS.

IF the game indeed comes out soon, I think I need to replay the master pack edition just to help with the hype! Been bugging friends to try this game as well! From the amusing story to the puzzles, it is my favorite RMXP game at the moment! I'd write a better review and such but I really gotta get back to my essay =p

I'll be sure to let Enkur know how much I enjoyed his art!

(PS. My favorite character is a tie between Bones/Finley, and from what I've seen in the trailers, Finley may take the lead!)

Nothing like late night introspection. ArtBane and I have been conversing about Arc III and the dilemma we currently have with it. We feel it's only fair to you, the fans who have given us a forty page thread (more if you count what was lost after the hacks...both of them), to tell the truth about the situation.

At first, we wanted Arc III done by Thanksgiving. This proved to be way too optimistic. We still had all sorts of things unfinished at that point. Then we thought...around Christmas. This was more reasonable. We finished beta-testing right around then and barring a healthy amount of errors, mostly quite minor, it looked like we had a fully functional arc on our hands.

Here's our problem: Arc III is done. Story, dungeons, battle mechanics, maps, a small army of craft-able items. Done. The only thing missing is what became one of the most popular elements of the game after the release of Arc II: Enkur's artwork. As you well know, his work added an entirely new appeal to this thing.

Unfortunately, the art is taking a long time...and what is often frustrating and sad about this is that it could have been done a long time ago. The exact reasons for this don't belong in here, suffice it to say this whole thing could have been avoided pretty easily.

This kind of problem often spells doom for other projects, reducing them to "vaporware" and leaving only lingering threads that show otherwise promising concepts rendered unavailable to the community because of one team member's lack of commitment. There's no way ArtBane and I would ever let that happen to MotW, and we've considered several options, such as outsourcing some of the art chores to friends we've made here on rmxp.org. Another option is just releasing the arc as is.

Before you all jump on and shout "What a great idea!" let me offer a caveat. If we did this, you would encounter the sprite for a villain and then go into a battle where you would be fighting an RTP battler that bore no resemblence to the person you were just looking at. Ketsu's face would still be that shadowy one despite the fact that he is seen in broad daylight this time around. Laurel, the new playable character, would look like a midget with her RTP battler next to Enkur's comparatively enormous ones for the other heroes. There are more inconsistencies where that came from.

We're not exactly in the mood to suffer endless posts along the lines of "LOL Laurel is so shorT!!!111one" or "Ketsu is clearly in a well-lit room, his face should be visible. Man, this game is overrated." On the other hand, we really just want to get this thing out so you all can enjoy it and we can work on Arc IV without feeling like we're missing something (Seriously, we've started on dialogue and mapping for it already. What else can we do?).

So that's the situation. What say you, friends?
