Master of the Wind

Master of the Wind (Complete!)

Hmm I'm here in my bro's house of Australia.

I really don't know what's up with that clown and baby...maybe it's a reference to something...

Not even that. They are just some town rejects Volrath's brother made. He wanted us to keep them in there but I felt they were a bit too off to be walking among the general public so I threw them in the shack. The clown has become a repeating gag though in the new towns.

the rest of your review I kinda have mixed feelings about, I don't totally disagree on any particular point, but a lot of the opinions seem to be just that, opinions... the way YOU might sculpt your project differently and I'm not sure its necessary.

 Oh my Silencher I didn't mean to be telling them what to do. I guess you missed this line at the very top of my post "I played arc 1 a long time ago so I really don't remeber it but here's what I thought of 2" I'm just telling them how I thought.

I know I tend to come across kinda rude and bossy sometimes in my posts because I do offer up a lot of critique. :shy: I also skimp a large portion of praise especeially with people that are defintly good at what they are doing because well, they'll get a ton of compliments and sometimes it's good to hear the other hand. I'm sorry Volrath and Arbane if I came across the wrong way. I really do love your game but if you'd rather not hear my suggestions and stuff or would like them PMed to you instead let me know. I don't think there was a definint "no don't tell me" to what I was saying and Volrath you did say keep in touch of III which I will :D ... However I really wasn't done with my thoughts yet (I was SO tired when writing it) so if you want to hear the rest please let me know.

Oh and I knew there had to be something wrong with the whole Ercello thing. I only played it once half drugged up (so sick I tell you!) and was like... eh wait a minute.... the rest of the story had been so well thought out I guess I read it wrong... and I think I read the other part with the stage wrong for the whole kids thing. Sorry about that. :*)

I figured the face graphics were a place holder but was just rambling off... some of the more pixled ones are by differnt aritist (like Auburn's) so was just pointing that out. Stuff like that drives me crazy because I'm an artist. :D Oh and if you need help with facegraphics... want me to take my hand at some? I could use the practice and it might be good to relieave some stress on Enkur though I tend to draw in a distinct style. If you'd like something like that let me know.

I guess I don't mean 'neighborly' as much as I mean.. Port Arianna seems like a small town, I haven't ever lived in a small town, but I can imagine you'd get to know -everyone- real fast if you live there for a decent length of time, especially with them being shop-owners, although I would assume the gen pop of Arianna aren't necessarily warriors, but... people get curious, windowshop, talk... I dunno what I'm trying to say exactly, I just think there are storyline possibilities in any NPCs, especially when your game revolves around a certain town/area. Kinda like Midgar/the Garden of FF8, etc. etc.

This is what I was talking about with the NPCs... The town is so small plus, yes they do say differnt things when you talk to them but only when the events change. I'm talking about when you talk to them again maybe have something else to say or be able to have conversations with them and pick and choose what to say to spcie things up. Maybe get money or potions. Like a towns person could maybe give Cade some money because he'll think he'll need it because the new store next door will run them out of buisness. Things like that... rewarding the player with items and money if saying certain things and backstory like Silencher suggested makes it more intresting and giveing more motivation to talk with them more. Of course NPCs aren't crucial, a lot of profesional games do the same thing you've done... just some input.

No worries Raven. Our feelings have not been hurt by your comments. I appreciate it more when people give their opinion on certain aspects of the game. It shows they cared enough to tell us what they think we should do to make the game even better. You will find many of the issues that repeatedly came up have been addressed in patches to older arcs or in arc III.

I find the NPC's adequate in Port Arianna and you will find a lot of them have more things to say in the next arc. But there many new locales now, and as you visit them you will find interactions with NPCs even more rewarding so I hope people take the time to talk to everyone. In some towns where you spend more time NPC's will often develop personalities of their own.

The art proposition sounds interesting and we could use another hand considering our current artist is backed up with battlers as it is. If you are interested in working on face sets for us I would love to see an example of your work. Maybe send a face set for Shroud and Stoic my way.

Well, not much I can add to this discussion at the moment, but for now I'd just like to apologize profusely for the lack of complete artwork in these current arcs. I joined up on this project about halfway through the second arc, and while I pushed myself to get in all of those battlers by the time it was released, progress has been shakier (read: I've been getting more distracted) this time around. Being back in college will help bring my drive back under the pressure of other work ironically, so after completing the battlers for arc 3 I intend to begin the long process of bringing the portraits up to date (among other graphical endeavors which will not be covered right now). Rest assured that I will get of my lazy ass and make the art a more complete looking package that I too am looking forward too.

Oh what fun! :D Okay I'll go ahead and make the two of them but what style do you prefer? I have some things on my DA account (there's a link in my sig) so you can see some of my styles. Would you like them more realistic or anime or cartoonish or as close to Enkur's as possible? I hope you don't mind Enkur... I don't mean to step on your toes but I know how hard it can be to draw up all kinds of stuff. Most people don't know how long it can really take... well at least for me.

er.. sorry Raven, I really didn't mean to come across rude or anything and no, if anything your review was fine, it wasn't bossy or anything of the sort. I was mostly just trying to discuss but it came across as arguing I think.

I'll be honest Raven, faces really aren't my strong suit (god knows I try >_<), but the general connecting trait in all of the heads I draw is essentially heavy and solid outlines. That said, a solidly inked profile with basic shading is pretty much the only guideline I could give you, other than keeping the number of facial features at about the same simplicity. If you want some clearer versions of the current battlers to look at let me know, the 640x480 incarnations really don't do them justice.

Hello everyone, I'd just like to reintroduce myself to the thread and give my opinions of the large amount of Arc 3 that I was fortunate enough to test.

I'm FinleyFan, assistant to Volrath and Artbane. I am the creator of Finley and I also help out with battle animations and most of the crazy townsfolk you find are probably my creation.

On to the important part, Arc 3. The only word I can think of to describe it is stunning. It's so good it almost makes the other arcs look amateurish. The puzzles and dungeons are absolutely top notch, the story takes off and becomes more engrossing then it already is, and the mapping and technical aspects have all improved.

So all of you fans, thanks for waiting. Hopefully it will be released soon but if it's not it's not because of lack of effort, if it is delayed it's only because ArtBane and Volrath are trying to make it even better then it already is.

Stick around, you wont be dissapointed.

Yay!

And I'm back home. Feels nice.

Since I never played Standalone Arc 2, how do you continue the game from where you left off? Copy paste the save file into Arc 3's save file folder?

I'm playing Arc 1, and I'm stuck in the chronologic part. I have to set the fire of some torches in the correct order. Though, I'm unable to find the correct one.

EDIT: I've made it. Thanks.

If you scroll back two pages you would have seen the answer to this. But here it is again:

upper torch, right torch, middle torch, left torch

Put the knife down, Powerdude.

Arc III should be ready for testing fairly soon, but won't be ready for official release for a little while after that. It's not that we don't feel Arc III is good enough yet, it's that many of the essential components of the game (i.e. battles, some minigames, and art) are not totally finished yet. This isn't something we want to have to go back and alter later if we can help it. Patience, my good man.

I'm glad you guys take the time to make the arcs. I don't think it's ever a good idea to rush the quality just for the sake of getting it out sooner. >_>;

Well, I've finally started my low step-count run in my spare time. So far I've already finished the chapel (does mentioning an area mean a spoiler if it's a basic common name like chapel, mine, etc?) and have about 2.5k steps. Made some big mistakes like picking up the miracle drop which I thought was useful, but really isn't, or failed an attempt to get the cloak once, but that cloak was veeery important.

Wasted quite a large number of steps, about maybe 100+. I'll get screenies soon. Had to train for 1 level to reach level 5 because the three lancers boss were too strong. I made some necessary side-trips to save points to prevent too much good exp loss, etc. I waste all my money on pocket shelters, potions, couple of ethers and phoenix downs since they help a lot.

So once again, looking foward to Arc 3, and screenies for the low-step-count run coming soon.

Is there any other place that I could download this game from where it would allow me to use a download manager? Being on dialup with 5-hour session times makes it impossible for me to finish before I get dc’d.

Box.net doesn't allow you to use your download manager? Right now there is nowhere else to download it unfortunately. I will upload it on our new domain later tonight with a few fixes I been meaning to get around to.
