Mass effect Two

one of the best games i have ever played period
On my third playthrough now, all of them are imported from my mass effect save file. My character kinda looks like stacy adams...anyway whatever. Classes ive played through with. infiltrator, vanguard and using sentinal now. After this im going to go for adept.

Just finished it... Lost Grunt and Mordin in the end, and I want definately want Mordin with me in 3, and we'll probably have a choice between Grunt and Wrex, in which case I'll definitely pick Wrex... Might replay the end tomorrow or something to save them(how is it determined anyways?)... Wait WTF!? Did I just put 30-ish hours to this within three days... ON EXAM WEEK?? What kind of fucking retard am I anyways T___T

The ending and most of it after the very beginning were actually pretty amazing, though having to dodge romance options coming from all directions in the place of my standard paragon option got kinda annoying. The 'last boss' was laughably easy too.
Got used to the new customization systems too... Still prefer the old ones though. Infiltrators were just nerfed engineers with snipers in ME1 btw, in this one we have stealth and all kinds of cool shit.

The last talk with the Illusive man was really satisfying too :D

I think
(and this is entirely based off of supposition based off what others seem to be posting on diff forums)
that Mordin's life during the final wave hinges upon who you bring with you to the final battle. if you bring heavy-hitting crowd-clearers, like Grunt, you can assume that the away team was overwhelmed by the huge number of badguys and Mordin, being one of the weakest team members in terms of HP/strength, is felled.
If you bring snipers with you to the final battle, like Thane or Garrus, there seem to be no casualties from the away team.
And of course everyone has to be loyal to you.
(if anyone wants to know how I managed to save everyone, I posted it in spoilers on the 1st page.)

Nope, that's probably not it since I had Legion and Garrus with me in the final fight... Or it might if it relies on Grunt(or Jack) specifically since Grunt was dead already and Jack was making the field. I guess I'll just cheat and check a guide or something since I can't be bothered to trial and error it...

Everyone was loyal too. The personal quests were 231037872893792x better than those in ME1 btw. I doubt anyone will disagree with me on that.

well, I just beat the game,
decided not to do any searching around based on what Venetia said about the crew,
managed to save everybody
no romance because I'm a virtuous shepherd, and already had Ashley last time,
(well romance for achievement then reload to earlier save)
Now to do the new game + thing

All in all I found that the assault on the collector base satisfied my thirst for epicness much more than Ilos,
this was one hell of a mission, even if the final boss was laughably easy...

Yeah I hope ME3 has more full-team interaction thingys. That really changed shit up. Especially when you had to go through with the biotic barrier and all the bugs were swarming around and slamming into it. Very cool and suspenseful :D

Ok... I think survival depends on whether you pick a good leadership type(Miranda, Garrus, Jacob or Thane I think) for the second teams and a capable tech guy(Tali or Legion). I just picked guys I liked or who seemed most fit personality-wise(IMO Grunt is the perfect leader for a diversion).

What saddens me though is that there's a reasonable probability that those that can die in the suicide mission aren't going to be a big part in ME3(much like Kaidan/Ashley and Wrex in this one), which include Grunt and Mordin at least and I recall hearing someone have Jack die too... Or can everyone die o.o? That'd at least explain why most of our old team didn't join up.

I also agree that this ending was so much more epic than the one in ME1. The wall climbing part was pretty lame and I lol'd so hard when I talked Saren into killing himself. The citadel was an epic place for the finale though and the fleet battle movies we're awesome. btw Did anyone notice that the Illusive man and Saren have totally similar eyes.

So I was going to get more paragon points to convince Jack into liking me again, but it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to get enough points!
I did a shitload of sidequests, talked to my crewmembers for hours and now my paragon bar is like 80-90 % full and it's still not enough.
I think I'm just gonna do a full replay with the same character, that way I can also get the achievement for reaching lvl 30 + the achievement for completing the game 2 times.

Btw, what classes did you guys use?
I was an infiltrator myself because I just love to be a sniping character, but I'm curious what the other classes were like to play with.

(Also, just bought ME1, because if I liked this one I'm pretty sure I'll like the first one too! :D)

I had my paragon bar full like half way through the game and dropped +20 bonuses constantly. Using your squad points into the class bonuses early gives you an edge since you get like 70% or 100%(depending on which evolution you pick) extra paragon/renegade at level 4 of that. Using charm(the blue texts in upper-left) options and performing paragon action(as well as not performing renegade) give a ton of points.

I play an infiltrator too, as I did in ME1, though as I said before they're much better in this one, in ME1 they're just snipers + hacking and some tech skills that I never used.

Yeah, they ALL can die. Though I think they all have to be disloyal to you and probably dislike you. I heard about a guy who beat the game in 10 hours just by doing the bare minimum of shit and jumping to the Omega 4 as soon as he could, and everyone died :V.
If you've had someone die (Soph lost Mordin so I saw his ending), you'll see that there's room enough in the ending cutscene for a large number of coffins.

I'm sure they'll be introducing new playables in ME3 too so they're definitely going to have to remove some of the characters from this one, especially since they'll probably be re-adding the LI's from ME1 (re-adding Wrex is doubtful; he's busy managing a planet after all--but I'd like it very much if he played a bigger part).

My (hopeful) guess is that all the possible LI's from ME2 will be optional team additions in ME3. Optional because it's possible all of them are dead.

Looking at it closer though, Garrus, Tali and Mordin all seem like they don't have much going on after this big mission. Jacob and Miranda work for Cerberus so they'll probably be doing Cerberus shit. Thane is terminally ill so dunno what will be going on there (but I hope he's still playable because he was my LI ;o;)--but he doesn't have much going on outside that. Grunt will likely join the Urdnots back on the krogan world and become some big shot. Samara will doubtlessly go back on her way doing her super asari detective shit. Jack doesn't have anything going on but she doesn't seem like the type to stick around in one place too long. Legion will likely rejoin his geth brethren.

I guess it's all just a lot of supposition though since we don't know how much time will pass between this and the next installment. Maybe another 2 years, maybe no time at all, etc.

Ok, I just replayed the end with everyone surviving(including the psychologist and rest of the crew despite doing Legion's quest and some mining).

At least from my point of view it seems like Shepard has taken the crew and the Normandy from Cerberus for him/herself, and Miranda formally resigned during the convo with illusive man in the collector base(and I don't think Jacob wanted to stick around anyways). The way I see the Wrex/Grunt thing is one will stay and run Urdnot and the other will save the galaxy, but we might have another Krogan too... Ionno, whatever approach they take I want to have as many familiar faces on the team as possible in ME3, and I definitely want a Geth and Quarian on board 'cause I want to keep playing Dr. Phil with them.

I think the next one will be a few years after, it'll take the reapers some time to get close and between that it's just diplomacy and buildup and boring shit like that. I guess they'll just be doing Cerberus/Spectre shit while waiting. btw I can totally see the choice between being a Spectre or Cerberus agent being given here(maybe determined by final Illusive dude chat), especially since the loading screens promise out choices in this one will have a strong impact on how ME3 will play out.

I saved all those unimportant crewmembers as well, which made me even more pissed off that Jack wasn't loyal.
I managed to do it by doing what you said on the first page, immediatly go through the omega 4 relay. (After doing Legion's Quest)

-Edit

It may have worked for me because I helped out a few crewmembers, searching for better supplies for the cook for example, I just talked to them a few times so maybe that did it?

Ionno, they just were safely retrieved from those pods, the psychologist said something after being released and everyone is on the Normandy after the suicide mission. It might depend on the time spent between their attack and the final mission, or something totally random... I have no clue

Imo in this game Vanguards lost ground and infiltrators gained,
last game it was you either had biotic powers or you didn't; tech powers didn't really do shit
Now that the shotgun has become a fail weapon,
and with the infiltrator having got all sorts of cools shit powers like cloak, well...

I also forgot to ask, did you guys save the base or destroy it?
Personally I saved it despite being a paragon, it was only like 10 renegade points anyway
But I did tell the Illusive Man to Shut up and fuck off, THAT WAS SATISFYING

I saved it.
Man that is such a giant decision though--I mean either cerberus hates you or doesn't--and either mankind has UNSPEAKABLE knowledge/technology now and cannot deny the reapers' existence, or has nothing and can still disavow it--I mean ME3 is going to be all over the fucking map :X
