Magic

Magic is fake. Everything has an explanation. Life is boring. That's why people make up mermaids and vampires and sword-weilding boys that collect crystals to save princesses ... So that life is more interesting than it actually is.

Yeah, I'm going to stick to what I said above as well.

Because there was no real need to say that but to have my name on the last post column and to spam it up.  That and I'm grumpy and feel like telling people if they aren't going to add to the discussion, then it's spam.

MWA HA HA

IMO, magic and religion are just what people invented to explain things they didn't have an answer for.

and this pretty much sum up my opinion on magic.

If magic was real I'd be at a mages Academy right now.

Of course magic is real , just depends on 'which' kind of magic ;) .
(Like I said before).

Just an FYI ask any psychologist or most scientists who specialise in the brain to explain love, they'll be able to give you a scientific explanation for it.
Sorry if I ruined the magic for you (well....actually I'm not.)

I do not believe in it. I do believe in spiritual creatures and am even suspicious than an entire spiritual world lives in the Dark Matter/Energy side of the universe. I know we have a soul and I do believe in "Ghosts"

But not magic.

Your informative post has convinced me entirely.

Lol. I believe magic is real, but not rpg magic. I do believe there is a supernatural world and people can touch it through demonic forces, but I think it's completely dangerous.  However, more often than not most people just attribute magic to be something they cannot explain.

As with many discussions, it all depends on what definition you give to your words. And as in most misunderstandings, ppl intend to give different definitions to the same words.

Therefore what do you mean by magic?
"shooting fire out of your hands"
"vampires"
"that what cannot be explained, and is often referred to as witchcraft"
"the magnificent feeling you get when you're in an adventure, that cannot be defined by spoken language"

I think everyone who hasn't given up on this world believes in magic, because that is indeed what makes this world interesting in stead of a dull and sad reality to live in. The only difference is that we all give different definitions to it...

Erm... I don't really know what you're talking about. It sounds pretty, but...

I dunno, maybe it'd help if you told us your definition of magic. As it stands, you're saying that everyone believes in "something."

Besides, I think that redefining the word "magic" should not be allowed into the discussion. Magic's generally considered some kind of energy force; you can't take a mundane piece of life or philosophy, mark it with an M, and rest your case.

Oh, yeah, mirror neurons.

That's magic.

The feeling you get after eating chocolate.

That's not endorphins, it's magic.

ok ... I get your point. And yes indeed I am saying that every one believes in something. And they often call it magic. Even when it is simply a shot of endorfine in your blood. Therefore I find it important what ppl mean by "magic".

I see magic as an invissable energy that can manifest anything in the world. I don't know how it manifests, but then again, I am no Sorcerer...

*are you saying eating chocolate is magic?

I certainly believe in and practice magic, but I take a bit of a more "realistic" approach (if it can be called that). I know that no one is ever going to throw a fireball or mend a broken bone with magic, but I certainly believe it is possible to change certain things, such as the outcome of events.

As far as magical creatures, I tend to think that they are more spiritual then physical. I don't believe I'll ever meet a physical Undine, but I think they exist as embodiments of water.

Do I believe in Supernatural forces? Yes. Do I believe in magic in the sense that it's conveyed through books, video games, and movies? For the most part, no. Basically, I do believe that there's some great, unknown force out there controlling everything. Is it God? I don't know. Is it nothing? I don't know that either. I do however believe that there is an afterlife. We just don't know what it is yet.  ;)

Vampires are actually people with blood disorders, so the skin is an odd colour, their blood is runny etc. The idea that they dirnk blood comes from the 4 humours idea that there is an imbalance of blood (Not enough) so they would drink other people's to balance the humours.
Magic doesn't exist, it's all in the mind  Though people like to associate themselves with animals and signs that sometimes tell a scarily accurate truth.

I believe that magic is there if you want it to be, and not there if you don't. It could be there if you wanted it to be. Just go with it.

Say I'm a freak, I know it!
