Using icons, certain sprites and stuff from Ragnarok Online feels so outta place.
Maybe that's just me because i've been playing it for a few years but meh.
Looks like a solid game though.

I played that game for 6 years almost I know what you mean hehe. But I hate the standard icons and I suck at graphics myself really cept for a small sprite edit here and there.

Mapping needs a bit of improvement, Feels too spacious.

What maps are you talking about? I would love to know which ones you are talking about and I'll see if I can make them less spacious.

I'm pretty sure that the empty maps are just for battle; the real maps don't have those spacey areas. :>

Of course if he means the battle maps, then yes haha.

Also I updated the main post. I updated the story a bit (I change a few small details) and features list.
I'm making new screenshots as well because the ones shown are fairly outdated and maps have been filled with NPC's etc. Not to mention the fogs aren't the same anymore and the hud looks a little different aswell.

I will be checking this out - I'm looking forward to the checking-all-the-items thing. I love that in games, and just because of that I'm now checking out Quintessence. My game was full of item-checkingness. Most of it was comedic as well, I like finding something and then laughing at it. I also like the thing where you look at something and a picture comes up - thats a really good idea. I could only suggest that you put some form of border around them because it sort of ruins the illusion otherwise.

I did, there is a black border around all the images. Only if it's a painting or picture it will have a picture frame.

Big bump, as of now (01-07-2008) there is a tech demo released for people to get a feel of how the game will play. Mind you there is still a lot unfinished, but the technical stuff is all working. As a glimpse of how quests will work, and how the world will feel.

I also heard from someone the death animation doesn't work yet in battle so it seems everything dies as a soldier. Well I'm not sure why it does that but that was supposed to work now. But still you can have fun playing it =P.

I hope you all enjoy it.

Just downloaded.  A painful 111 MBS :(

I'll be playing this tomorrow.  I hope it includes the massive overworld!

111mb shouldn't really take that long to download these days XD, it's 2008.

But I'm working on lowering the bitrate on most of the music. That should drop the filesize a fair bit, but that is something for when it becomes too big to handle.

I hope you enjoy it, not a lot of people show very much intrest in the game so far.

Well today I did some more mapping of the northern continent. I mapped out one line of the forest left to right, it will be 1 more row upwards too and 1 long row downwards. I think that should do for a forest. Then I'm mapping the mountain terrain and plains to the south, west and east of the capital. Then the first part of the continent will be done. It will be 4x as big once it's fully mapped though. And there will be 3 of those in the full game so enough exploring to do. And each region will use it's own type of tilesets.

Here is the newest version of the world so far:

!!Big File!!

I'm not going to lie, this looks amazing. At first I was a bit discouraged by all the FE stuff.

Then I saw the maps and the interactivity and I can safely say this game looks incredibly fun.

Hehehe thanks, a big kudo's goes to Gubid for the TBS, it's the best.

Once I finish mapping the north west I might just work on finishing the first chapter.

Wow, this game looks great! I especially like the mapping and your title screen. Also those custom sprites are very well done.

Looks nice :) Are you going to be able to explore the lake (go underwater)? That'd be pretty cool.

EDIT: By the way... on your first in-game screen, you should've noticed this, but the grass area in the upper-left has WAAY too many flowers  :P
