That would never work.

People, in this day in age, need something to cling to. Something that makes them feel important, and because the feeling of just doing the right thing can't fufill that, people turn to religion for both an orgin and a purpose. No religion = mass suicide.

It is true that religion influenced the past to get us here today. Without religion we would still be animal-like. But with religion we fought over the "right" idea of how we should worship an omnipotent-like being. Or we fought over the "right" idea of who/what the omnipotent-like being was/is. With all this fighting over religion and God really makes you wonder if it was all worth it? A con without religion is that the world would be almost purely greed driven. The pro of this would be the opposite, but we are still driven by greed 2/3 of the time, or at least I am.
If I could change the world, I would make one religion. Everyone under one religion. Depending on how the religion would be set up and what guidelines they give, we could be looking at a loss of 90% of all things "wrong" with the world. There could be some trouble with the "non-believers", ones that do not believe in God and/or religion. I am trying to think of how the religion would prevent the believers and non-believers from persecuting eachother for their opinions of the universe. It is impossible to satisfy everyone in the world at the same time. It would be hard to keep things peaceful with extremists.
It does not matter how you change the world, there will be a positive pull equal to the negative pull. Theres truely no right answer.

I'd erase every ned and chav out there. Complete waste of space! I mean 'Let's go an emotionally and physically scar people for the rest of there life because that's what we do!'. The world would likely be better without them, certainly alot less social judgement would take place between teenage and early adult life.

I agree with Deathbreak, though I don't have a religion (my life is...complicated), most people do need a religion. Its one reason for most of the suicides in the world really.

If I could change the world, I would give away money to people everyday and help everyone around the world. I'm even hoping to accomplish this in a couple years. Maybe less if I can get $10 million USD from some very rich entrepreneur...*cough* Bill Gates.
Hopefully this would create a worldwide era of good feelings...if not, I tried...

It's impossible to eradicate religion and greed from the world, those are two things that are a part of human nature, and if you change human nature itself there may be some undesirable consequences.

The closest you could get would be removing organized religion.

Or perhaps force people to realize that the beliefs/prejudices/rules of a particular religion/denomination ONLY apply to the people who CHOOSE to be part of that religion/denomination. Why should a gay Jew give a shit what a Right-wing Christian says, for example? No religion actually HAS any real authority. If people could get that through their thick skulls, that would make a big difference. No need to remove religion altogether, because, as has been said, it is often a force for good.

One change I would make is that people understand that not everyone needs to go to temple, church to have a personal religion.  In Egypt, Akhnaton created a religion that was ahead of its time, and created a religion without dogma at all.  He said that the sun was the center of life. The giver of life, so to speak, and that has been proven.  If people could accept this one change, that they don't know as much, as we'd like to think we do... The world would grow, and become a much better place.  That's my one change, only one, or is that two?

Become an Ophthalmologist, do loads of research, and finally figure out how to get rid of floaters!

Bringing understanding to the ignorant means that people can have a clearer view of things, and begin to set up a society that we can all agree on- cause we all understand what a society entails. It would be a golden age.


As for what I'D do? I'd make myself omnipotent, then do whatever else I wanted to do. There, easy.

If you want to have a utopia or get rid of all the pain and suffering and such bad things, you have to change human nature, but then, well, it won't be our world anymore.
