Human Stupidity

Not at all. I work all day and have no delusions on my lot in life. Nobody owes me anything, you dont know me well enough to say what I am. You only wish that to be true because you have some kind of pathetic net grudge.

Wrong. You have deluded yourself to the point of being an egomaniac, and not a very well-educated one at that.

You rant that people will write pseudo intellectual pieces, almost pretending that they are "well learned", yet you ignore that you consistently write post after post of the very same content that you berate. Don't even make me bring up the embarrassment that you call your "knowledge" of evolution, or the fact that you refuse to accept that you are wrong no matter how many sources disagree with you.

You further rant that people think they understand others more than they really do, but what do most of your posts seem to do? That's right, they're filled with you doing this very thing. In the very post that you complain about people pretending to know more than they do about others, you go on to say:
There's a generation of people who've become gods in their isolation, thinking they have the world figured out since their objectively displaced from everything(see, dont have a life) with nobody there to bring them down to earth(poor parenting, politically correct punishing, spoiling, etc.).
Not only do you pretend to "understand their predicament" (as you put it), you go on to declare exactly what they are thinking, why they are the way they are and why they haven't changed.

Furthermore, you've done the exact thing that you berated a poster for earlier in the topic.
ANYONE can point out problems especially on such a vague blanketed level, do you have any solutions? Then stop whining, dummy.
Lo and behold, you have done exactly this. You made an incredibly blanketed statement pointing out "problems", yet offered no solution. If you don't see the hypocrisy here (and clearly, you haven't), you're turning a blind eye onto yourself (which often leads to the conceit that you regularly parade).

Later, you whine and say "you don't know me well enough to say what I am", and in the very next sentence declare to know exactly what I wish and exactly why I wish this. Uneducated and hypocritical - this is becoming a trend.

The fact of the matter is that you have become exactly what you whine about - you seem to think that you can speak for everyone else, denounce whatever you wish about them, write whatever you wish about whatever you please (whether you actually know what you're talking about or not), and receive absolutely no contention. And when this contention does arise, you throw a hissy fit.

This may very well be considered flaming, and I can understand if a moderater feels this way. I can also understand if they feel that this is off topic. However, you can not pretend that this is true for this post and not for others, so should a mod take action, I would think that they'd be fair in their action and repeat the same action for others who have clearly done the same.

Simply put, I've little toleration for the incredibly rude and uneducated ramblings of Ryan, and I felt that it was time someone pointed out his blatant hypocrisy (notice his reaction).

Uh... Lovely as your post is, I'd vastly appreciate it if you could SOMEHOW link this to the topic at hand. I mean, you're free to use each other as examples seeming as the topic IS about random stupidity, though I'd appreciate if you could keep it... Nice. (Hint: Nicer than that, unless we can prove that we don't take things personally)

It's been scientifically proven that the human only uses up to 3% of his brain, not 10%.

I believe, if we used 10% of our brain, we could fly. The mind is such a great thing, how can you make it work to it's full potential?

Also, I'm sorry but, what the hell are you talking about? How in the world would using 7% more of our brain magically give us the ability to fly? Would we be able to flap our arms 3,000 times faster? Or is being able to solve higher level math problems without a calculator the basis of flight? (If so, why are there not more math majors?)

LMAO!! I personally think this subject in no way, shape or form can have any clear bearing on anything. The world is scattered with random myths, knowledges and lies. Something like that could VERY possibly be true. We don't need physical essence to be able to levitate, now do we? Of course, that's just considering our minds would be that powerful. As you basically said, unless making us smart can make us fly, we're pretty much stuck on the ground ;P

I don't nessecarily think that this could be the case though. With the way there are so many things that happen, yet somehow are unbeknownst to us humans, I can't simply throw out the notion that technically we're all stupid =/

I completely agree. That was just one of those things that I had to say before I ASPLODE'd.

On a more related note, I believe that many of you are misinformed. It's not that humans only "use ten percent" of their brains (in fact, we use very nearly 100% at one time or another), rather the human brain only reaches ten percent of its potential. Basically, some neurologists took what they knew about the human brain and decided that it isn't being harnessed to its full capacity.

It makes sense, when you think about it. Most signals in the brain reach damn near the speed of light, yet even the simplest math problem can take upwards of several seconds. There is a severe drop off in potential/reality ratio here.

No one seems to be catching onto what I'm hinting at....

Who are we to judge how much of our brains we actually use? For a ll you know the parts of the brain that seldom or don't really see much activity could just be dormant neanderthaul parts that we don't need anymore. I could go on forever about how we don't know for sure, and we probably never will. Just because we can see what we can, doesn't mean that there isn't something else there we haven't discovered.

Don't any of you find it strange how we can go on about our feeble existance without collapsing in on ourselves emotionally? What part of the brain exactlt determines that sort of thing? And even so, we don't know how the brain EXACTLY determines these things yet. You could tell me it's a number of chemical reactions, but that's too generalized. Everything's(pretty much) a chemical reaction. I'd just like to know where some people get off passing some of these things off as fact...

They could say they know this stuff, but they can also say that they don't know exactly how this works. The mysteries of conciousness, the origin of life, why we sleep, etc etc. There's just too many things we don't know for me to simply take in what ANY scientist says as fact.

Sasame, give me an EEG, and I'll show you your brain at work. Then I'll give you different things to do, and show you different areas at work. It's pretty well known what portions of the brain do what. Just because science can't ever answer every question doesn't make everything that scientists say invalid.

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm just asking if they know HOW the different areas work. It's like a watch. We know what makes a watch go tick tock, but we don't entirely comprehend it yet. Also, with all the crazy things that past scientists have passed off as fact, I can't simply take it in as fact.

I'll give science this much, they pretty much know what they're doing in terms of what they currently know. We're definatly well on our way, at this rate. I just can't help but wonder if they're just wrong. I'm way too scepticle >.<

You are missing his point.

While I agree, the brain is complicted and we might not know it enough and think we do, you aren't giving good examples to support what you are saying. Neither am I, I'm just posting this as an oppinion tho.

Don't judge modern science by the crazy "theories" of the past. "Science" a mere 300 years ago was little more than a contest to see who could sell their ideas the best.

Science today uses true peer review, with a uniform set of guidelines and rules to cut out illogical bullshit. For the most part, you can trust what hard science tells us.

I love how this topic about human stupidity is absolutely choc full of idiotic assumptions, pseudo-science and general hipocracy  It's a real irony-fest

On the topic of science - the information that gets passed down to us in terms of the working of the brain is the bare basics - the basic functions of various areas and bodies within the brain, for instance. The really disputable stuff is what is built off of this foundation, trying to understand memory, perception, etc. The fundemental workings of the brain aren't exactly hard to work out if you have the right equipment - when this nerve trail on the front of the brain is damaged, proprioception is lost; when those nerve endings are stimulated, localised fast-pain is experienced.

Which is why I don't trust most of what anyone tells me >_>

I can't feel that someone of equal presence can tell me what's what if it's beyond my comprehension.

Well, aside all of my sceptisism, I do have common sense/logic. If it's within reason, I'll believe it. And if I care enough, I'll even research it. No particular reason why. I suppose I just like to know stuff.

what I've seen, it IS thoroughly within reason, but that's only the reason that we see before us. I'm sorry, but I can't simply pass of what we know as fact, considering how much less we do know.

Sometimes it's hard to fathom how idiotic people can be.

The odds of humans not wiping out themselves are the same odds as getting a royal flush in 5 card draw 20 times in a row while getting struck by lightning each time...
