Human Stupidity

I've been thinking about this ever since I read that story about the guy who smashed a grenade with a sledgehammer and died. What is the extent of our stupidity? Scientists say we only use 10% of our brains, at best. So does this mean we're more capable then we think? Or is that the maximum amount allowed naturally to us as humans? If we could somehow find a way to use that other 90%, do you think the way we would perceive our "reality" would change?

And if we don't do that, and we only use that 10% for the rest of the time the human race has, do you think that our desruction will be brought about by us? Since it is in our nature to be self destructive, can stupidity only increase the chances of this part of our nature overtaking everything else in it, and thus destroying ourselves? What are your thoughts about this?

That's a myth. Over a half of our braincells don't have the power of thought; and of the ones that do, we use most of them- even more when there is a problem.

..read "The point of a Vegan/Vegetarian?" for more info.

And; what you said is sort of impaired. The man certainly knew what he was thinking when he smashed it. He may be stupid; but he was certain of it.

Stupidity is lack of intelligence, not common sense.

Also; stupidity isn't going to bring the end to the world. In fact, stupidity is one of the least able reasons. Polotics, conflict, and territorial instinct go deeper.

We use all of our brain in refference to parts for intelligence. The dormant parts are redundancies left from a time when we ate raw meat and knew little beyond the art of sharp rock, long stick.

Yes. Stupidity will cause our ends. Either that, or greed.
We waste our resources to kill each other over what? Currency, land and more resources.

That kind of massive oversimplification from people who think they're already well learned is the worste kind of stupidity. ANYONE can point out problems especially on such a vague blanketed level, do you have any solutions? Then stop whining, dummy.

Two of those are wrong.

Animals naturally fight to gather food (resources) and to protect their land (Erm...land). The currency one is only partially correct too. Some people fight for power, not wealth. Wealth is just a bonus of being powerful.

I personally believe humans are capable of so much, but when you see the obvious stupidity that goes around... One is left to ponder at times. Stupidity is not to be passed off as curiosity, which would reffer to the man with the grenade and the sledgehammer, BUT curiosity should nary over step the bounds of common sense. We humans lack the mental fortitude to grow beyond our enviornment, thusly making us what we grow up around. That's not to say that someone who's grown up in a rough neighborhood is gonna be a big and bad gangsta who walks around with a tech 9. It's all a matter of perception. The mind percieves what it wants, it seems. If a person so desires to be stupid, they are just that; Stupid. People who tend to put themselves down, or are inadvertadly(sp?) depressive tend to fail at what they do.

I suppose what I'm saying is; People have the power to prgress beyond what they are, they're just too lazy, too stupid, too dispirited, too antsy, too impatient, etc etc.

I think I'm just rambling...

Or, in the case of this newest generation, too self important and too apathetic. It comes from lack of labor work, back in the day you were too busy to sit around in a glass case thinking they understood a stranger's predicament better than the stranger did. There's a generation of people who've become gods in their isolation, thinking they have the world figured out since their objectively displaced from everything(see, dont have a life) with nobody there to bring them down to earth(poor parenting, politically correct punishing, spoiling, etc.).

ROFLMFAO!!

I know too many people like that to be at peace with myself. And I couldn't agree more about the work. If this generation didn't have it so good, we wouldn't have the time to take the several luxuries most people take for granted. Hell, we'd be too busy to do miscellenious things like this.

It's all a matter of equallibrium, in my opinion. If parents had a better idea of where to live, if school districts knew where to lay the priorities, and if society knew when enough was enough, perhaps we wouldn't be so childish, selfish, apathetic, etc an so on. We really do need to get off our buts and start thinking outside of the box a little more.

Jim Carey kicks ass. That's just an act. There's too much stupidity. There's only a handfull of people in my grade that are smart enough to stay away from drugs....

...Wow, you missed the entire point of the topic.

Well of course stupidity will be the end of us. If we did figure out how to use our brains "fully" then our civilization would be a lot more advanced by now. I don't know if this would ever happen though.

I hope that you realize how hypocritical you're being.

Not at all. I work all day and have no delusions on my lot in life. Nobody owes me anything, you dont know me well enough to say what I am. You only wish that to be true because you have some kind of pathetic net grudge.

It's been scientifically proven that the human only uses up to 3% of his brain, not 10%.

I believe, if we used 10% of our brain, we could fly. The mind is such a great thing, how can you make it work to it's full potential?
