@cadz

Glad your exams are over! And I sent you a PM, don't know if you got it though.

~Update~

The foundation of the game has finally been set! So far, the main portion of the town has been mapped, and the only thing left to add is the beach and the inners!

Heres a 1/8 view of the main town: 1/8 View - Radiant Valley

And, heres a little screenshot of giving a gift to Celia!

Since I'm beginning to add NPC's (starting with eligibles) I seriously need some writers to help me with this. If you're interested in helping, just send me a PM.

I know I shouldn't post my own screenshots in YOUR topic, but I just couldn't resist...
Hope you'll forgive me...  :smile:

I started mixing the graphics...
I'm currently using some Rune Factory icons, because unlike the HM ones they are 24x24, but I'll hopefully solve this as soon as my exams are over...
(I also haven't ripped the holding pose yet, but that's just a minor problem.)

I'd gladly help you with the writing, but unfortunately I suck at it...
The only things I'm good at are eventing and some scripting, but you can do these yourself...

Not june yet... This isn't necropost >< I guess so... I wanna help I've played:

Wonderful Life
Save The Homeland
Back To Nature aka Boy & Girl

@Maria1

Well, I don't mind TOO much, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

Btw, something tells me that we're both using the same message system. ^__^

@Kishi3133

Yeah, it's not necroposting. Its only been a day since the last post. o_o

And I sent you a PM, sooo, yeah. ^.^

No updates really, except the fact that a few heart events have been written by Cadz (who rox my sox ^^)!

This is looking great, but I'm not a fan of "old style graphics" but thats my opinion,
I will defieantly love to see this game when it's finished! Good Job and Good Luck!

Wouldn't it be better also to add some Original characters? for instance, add another person or small business completely left out of the official HM stories in past games? (Just one)
Following that, All you do all day in the game is harvest crops, which becomes easy later on and all the good events usually happen in one year, even in Rune Factory.  (I can marry 1 chick within one year of any HM game, Except for the DS Ver. Need 40 Harvest Sprites saved before that happens...) It would also be a good idea to add some mini adventures and side quests so the player or players won't be bored with the game after marriage, or after the year is through and inspection comes along.

For instance, a Havest Sprite is lost in a cave, and you have to go rescue the little guy. - reward, Fatigue & Strength Extension.

A tornado come through and wrecks the town, you can spend the whole week chopping wood and harvesting to bring the town back up on its feet
- Reward : Earn 40000g for your help & hard work.

ETC, ETC, ETC. so on and so forth.

Woah, its so amazing, Oh I wish I was as good as you guys, I mean this looks beautiful incredible even. I'm a giant fan of the harvest moon series, but frankly I rather play this version, I rather have the demo along with it, so I could add my own graphics, and such, and create my own game, sort of like an engine, but I know that  's not going to happen, but just to see this. I want to work just as hard on my game, but I don;t have a clue on how to do that artwork and such. I wish I could figure out how, this looks so amazing.

By the way, xBrokenSin, that's a SINGLE map that you posted in one of the previous posts?
Have you tried filling it with crops? I'm using the anti-event-lag script, so the size doesn't matter so much when walking around, but it would still probably take several minutes just to create all the events there. It's not much noticeable with smaller maps of 40x40 squares, but this one's really huge...

Or are you making the crops in a different way, not by normal events?

The problem is - if every farmland squre is an event, doesn't matter if there is something growing or not, the lag will be always terrible - whole screen full of events. On the other hand, if you save only the squares with something on them, the lag will be much smaller, but you'll have to create the events every time you enter the map and if it is too big, you'll have to wait for a long time...
Also, at the start of the game, or when you enter the map for the first time, you must put some random weeds and stones there, another time consuming task...

So, If you can tell me, how have you solved this? I'd really like to know...

oh god harvest moon wooteth! this game was so fun back then i wouldn't stop playing. if i dont see a finished product I'll.. well i don't know what I'll do...

Just posting to let everyone know that this project isn't dead and I'm still working on it. ^_^

@Outcast

Yeah, if I ever find an artist, new characters WILL be added, and I do plan on adding a quest system eventually. I know what you mean about the game becoming boring after marriage but I hope to remedy that with mine.

@Maria1

Yeap, I decided to make it one GIANT map because its so troublesome to have teleporting events, and it would be hard to have them move to a certain section of the map if you were on your farm and they're supposed to be walking toward the store or something.

About crops, weeds, stones, etc. I'm using a script so that when you use the hoe, it creates the event. So, before you use the hoe, their is nothing their, but when you DO use it, it creates an event. So, that lets me save time by not having to have events for all the tillable land.

But weeds, stones, etc, are another story. I haven't quite got around to them yet but I have an idea of what I'm going to do.

Hopes that answers your questions.

@Shadow

Yeah, that has been long since fixed. :P

Updates:

Well, their hasn't been much of an update... Still looking for those elusive writers to help out, so if you're interested, just let me know. Hopefully, the next time I post, there will be something major to show.

Yes, that's the same thing as I do, but just try to till half of it and then exit the map and enter again ( I suppose interiors will be separate maps, so you have to do it sometimes). If you don't have something I didn't think of there, you'll know what I'm talking about immediately.

Uhm... sorry to say this everyone, but all the progress I have made for this game has been lost.

You see, me and my father share the same computer. Anddd, he decided to reformat... and I'm sure you can guess what happened next. I didn't have any backups on a disk or anything, so... I am so out of luck.

Maybe one day I'll start this project up again, but until then, its on hold.

You have to believe him, too. Because I kind of know him personally and he wouldn't kid around like this XD. I told him if he posted this no one would beleive him. That's why I'm posting this XD.

Don't worry, Ted. It happens to me, too.

That sucks a hell lot...  I used to backup my daily workload to my other harddrive but recently stopped.  Guess I'll start doing it again in case of something like this. >,<

This also happened to me a while ago, although I only lost like a weeks worth of work but gained more knowledge of rpg maker.  Best thing we can do in these situations is accept the outcome as a lesson, or something like that.

You were doing very good with this game so don't give up on future projects because of this and good luck!

He said that he may redo it. I want to help him with the tilesets because... well... his weren't that good IMO, and I am well known for my tileset/chipset ripping.

But, no one give up hope!

That's really bad what happened...
But you still have all the ideas and you know how you did it before, so you won't be starting from nothing - don't give up!
I could lend you a hand too - I have no idea why we didn't cooperate from the start anyway.
I could send you the graphics I have - there aren't many of them, but most are usable even though they're from FoMT. And you could use my scripts as well, at least until you rewrite yours.
Just PM me if you want, I'd really like to help.

(this is directed at Maria, since Radiant Valley is cancelled)

But... if you do that won't you have to put in some kind of a limit to keep the player from trying to fill their entire field with crops ? (causing lag)

On my old game I could have a field large enough to hold 8 patches of crops with a space in between each row for walking and keep it at a steady 30fps (16 x 9 -- 144 events).  If I tried to add much more than that I would start to get lag.  (this is in addition to the other events on the farm map)  You might want to make the farm one map and make the rest of the world another.

Anyway, I hope that you two decide to work together.  I know of lots and lots of cancelled projects but very few that are still in progress.  :tongue:
