Not really, no. This track may be miniaturized, but the rest are not. (I believe the next thing I go over is actually a giant craps table) Thinking of the end of the world is closer to the reality. (And is related to the title. Although, most people don't know the real title, as the games were almost universally published with an abbreviation of the title instead of the title itself. In fact, I didn't learn the real title until I found the game on Wikipedia.)
The backstory behind the game is that it takes place on a planet that had been successfully colonized, and that had developed a thriving industry, powered by mining. Unfortunately, the mines uncovered something, a virus of sorts, and that something was accidentally shipped to the main settlement before being discovered. It subsequently began to destroy the settlement and the surrounding area, and the planet was evacuated as best as possible. The ones who either couldn't leave or chose not to leave took to building racecars from abandoned factory equipment, and racing around the streets and surrounding areas. Then, a ship was discovered, that could take one person offworld, and save them from the planet's ultimate destruction. The races became much more serious, as the winner of the tournament (which uses all default tracks in the game), would be given the ship, to make good their escape. The losers would be doomed to die with the planet.
I thought this was interesting because most racers either overload you with horrible attempts at story or have none whatsoever. This one only had story in a skippable video at startup, and one of two videos when you finish the tournament, depending on whether you won or lost.
